I designed 81 Apple-style emojis I felt we could really use. Posted: 27 Dec 2020 02:58 PM PST The Very Necessary Emojis sticker pack was lovingly developed thanks to all the extra free time during quarantine. Special care was taken to match the signature Apple aesthetic, and much thought to which extra-subtle and especially-direct Emojis would make it into this collection. I hope you enjoy! And feel free to suggest some you might have always wanted. [link] [comments]

Do you like Sudoku? Our little puzzler has been featured repeatedly, and we'd still like more input! Posted: 27 Dec 2020 10:44 AM PST Hi everyone! First off, a massive thank you to everyone who downloaded our little game, gave us input, and took the time to say hi. Our aim from day one has been to create the perfect Apple-esque Sudoku puzzler, with as many customisation options as possible. We think we did an alright job, but obviously there's always room for improvement. If you'd like to check our game out, you can download it for free right here. The only IAP is to get rid of ads. Making this app has been a dream come true, and it has enabled us to start working on more puzzlers (coming in early 2021 to an i-device near you). We're not a massive studio, we're a husband and wife team trying to make simple apps even better. Here's what's already being worked on:
We'd love to hear some more suggestions / feedback. In the meantime, say hi to our CEO (Chief Executive Olive) EDIT

Posted: 27 Dec 2020 07:23 AM PST I am an indie developer passionate about self-tracking. So I built an app, Metrics, that I use to track all kinds of stuff from health and fitness data (most of it gathered automatically from Health data) or other personal data that I enter daily (e.g: time spend working, reading). The app offers iCloud sync, widgets, and some stats. I plan to extend it by adding a goals section. If you want to gather some stats about your 2020 steps, distance walked, heart rate, or other metrics that can read from the Health app, this is a great tool. Also, I find it very useful for daily tracking of stuff that is not automatically trackable and to build good habits, like reading, quit smoking, personal hygiene, and more. The app is free to download and it offers by default 21 metrics, many of them synced with health. You will need a Pro subscription ($1.99 / month or $19.99/year) for custom metrics, widgets, and charts. I always take privacy very seriously so I don't collect any of your data. The app doesn't store data in any external servers, I just track some stuff related to app interaction (screens visible, buttons tapped), without user tracking or identification. The data is kept local (Core Data) and it also can be synced on multiple devices via iCloud. I have no access to any health or other personal data and I don't use any external libraries that might track users. It will be really useful to hear your opinion, so if you want to take a look and leave me some honest feedback let me know in the comments and I will offer you a promo code for a 1-month subscription (available for the first 25 people) The app can be downloaded from here: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/metrics-build-great-habits/id1492356525. If you just want to see some screenshots and more details, check out this link: https://capps.tech/metrics Many thanks and happy holidays! 🎄 [link] [comments]
Simulation tools for macOS display sizes and resolutions? Posted: 27 Dec 2020 06:24 AM PST Are there any resources that can let me simulate or evaluate the experience of moving from a 15" non-Retina to a 13" Retina display? I'm currently rocking a 15" mid-2012 MBP as my everyday device. It's a testament to its quality that I still love it and use it regularly. However, with it not supporting Big Sur and a large part of my research taking place on the device, I'm forced to consider upgrades. I'm really intrigued by the M1 Macs but unsure of the move to a 13-inch display. The physical size is not my concern as much as workflows that are supported by the resolution, and I know that may be made up for by the increased density. On my 15" non-Retina display, I regularly work with two windows side by side: Safari and Outlook, Scrivener and Zotero, Microsoft Teams and Word, Atom and iTerm, etc. My question is basically: are any of these tools too unwieldy to shrink to half of a 13" display? Or would I notice no essential changes? Is there some kind of tool that lets me simulate what these layouts would look like? Or should I try to hold out for a 15" M1 model? Thanks for any input on this. [link] [comments]

Posted: 26 Dec 2020 10:21 PM PST My girlfriend and I were on a hike today. When we compared our Apple Health app data side by side, the data on our graphs (for today only) showed different info hour by hour for Walking + Running Distance and Flights Climbed. Does anyone know why two devices on two people side by side at the same exact times would show different info for these items? Thank you, Daniel [link] [comments]

Got a new M1 Mac for Christmas. Here's what I did with my first Charge. Posted: 27 Dec 2020 08:34 AM PST Apps:
Copyq was one of the first things I installed. It's nice to have clipboard storage right there at your fingertips. I set this up to activate the tray menu with Opt+C. I set up Logi Options not long after. I set up the Gestures in a pattern that I like. This lets me easily switch between desktops using my mouse, access my stored clipboard by swiping down, and refresh web pages by just pushing the gesture button. I installed Steam and Epic games launcher along with a couple of games.
Overall, I don't thing Gaming on M1 is quite there yet, but I am excited to see how it progresses. I think gaming on M1 holds a lot of promise. 3D printing is one of my hobbies, so naturally, I installed Fusion360 and Cura. Cura works without too many bugs. I did notice that some click and drag features, like rotating or moving objects didn't work at first, but somehow they started working later on and I haven't had a problem since. Fusion 360 installed and seems to be working fine. I haven't been able to fully test it out yet either. In addition to all these things, I streamed some video, video chatted for a couple of hours, browsed the web for a few hours, spent a couple of hours chatting with friends on Messenger, and listened to some music. The battery life is amazing! It took me two days to complete all the items listed above and I didn't have to charge throughout the full two days. Props to Apple and M1! What is the first thing you do with your new Mac? [link] [comments] |
