Purchased Apple TV (4th Gen), should I have gotten the 4K? Posted: 11 Apr 2018 04:00 PM PDT Hey /r/appletv, i need some validation or some something... I recently bought a 4th gen apple tv mainly to stream MLB.TV, but i didn't look up the specs between the 4th v. 5th. I don't have a 4k TV and don't plan on it (never?) maybe, but probably not any time soon. Is the A10x vs the A8 really that big of a difference? I'm not an AV enthusiast, so sound quality, 4k vs. 1080p vs 720p, I guess I don't really know (or see) the difference. I feel on the fence to return the 4th gen and get a 4k, need input and I need to put this doubt to bed. I love the apple tv, best stream top i've ever had, but this nagging feeling between the two (re: the specs) is bothering me. TL;DR: I got a 4th gen, love it, but will i regret not having the specs of the 5th gen if I don't get a 4k TV? [link] [comments]
Any reason *not* to buy refurbished? Posted: 11 Apr 2018 05:51 AM PDT About to get an Apple TV 4K. It's £30 cheaper to buy refurbished from Apple. Is there any reason why I would want a brand new model versus a refurb? I can't think of anything besides the slightly different box it comes in. [link] [comments]
Posted: 11 Apr 2018 04:25 PM PDT I can't scrub through any media I'm streaming. It's been this way for months, what's the deal? Sometimes Netflix/Amazon loses my position in what I'm watching and I can't fast forward at all, to get back to where I was. Videos load fine, I have a great connection and download speeds, videos never buffer so it's not like it hasn't preloaded the video to skip ahead. It's unbelievably frustrating, anyone have any ideas on a fix? [link] [comments]
Organize purchased iTunes movies into folders? Posted: 11 Apr 2018 05:05 AM PDT In my ideal world I would have a folder on the home page, which would only contain the movies I've purchased for my kids. Makes it easy for them to browse their collection, and keeps the grown up films out of view. On the flip side, I would love a folder for "my movies". Today, it seems like purchased movies are only available through the Movies app, which defaults you to the store and then you have to navigate to purchased items and scroll through genres to find the kids films (some are in kids genre, some are in musicals, etc). I've submitted feedback to Apple on their feedback site, but am not optimistic that they will support this, as they probably want my kids to see the store of new movies every time they want to watch a film. However, I'm curious if anyone knows of a solution? For example 3rd party app? I'm envisioning a "My Movies" app, which supports folders and organizing of iTunes purchased movies, and simply links to the existing films & native player. I would prefer not lose access to the iTunes Extra functionality, which happens if you use MoviesAnywhere/Vudu (and those apps also don't support folders) Thoughts? [link] [comments]
Posted: 11 Apr 2018 12:47 PM PDT The TV icon button takes me to a screen that shows News (with 6 choices). then Comedy, etc. One of the 6 news choices is not news and I want it deleted from that menu, or substituted with a news station. Is there any way to do this? Or was this a paid placement? [link] [comments]
Posted: 11 Apr 2018 06:03 AM PDT I have a collection of Blu-ray rips in MKV form that I understand Infuse 5 will churn through nicely, either pointing it at the media or my plex server, but I also have a large amount of lossless CD rips in iTunes. Is there a way to direct the atv's music app at my local .alac files without using homesharing? [link] [comments]
What kind of Apple TV 4K did I just receive? (Sealed white box and components, no warranty) Posted: 11 Apr 2018 10:59 AM PDT It came in in a completely white box. Same size box as other Apple TV 4K's. It had a single sticker on it: https://imgur.com/a/tlBej The box what cleanly sealed like Apple products normally are. The components were brand new. Sealed too, everything wrapped. I am absolutely sure everything is new. And yet, when I put in the serial number to check the warranty it says "Service Coverage Expired": https://imgur.com/a/CFTqy Anyone know what this is? Sealed white box, components sealed and brand new yet no warranty? The 4P7P2LL/A number is weird. It should be MQD22LL/A as far as I know. [link] [comments] |
