iPhone 12 Pro owners coming from iPhone X, do you notice a big difference in daily use? Posted: 05 Nov 2020 01:38 PM PST I'm still debating whether I should upgrade or not, kinda feel like there's something missing to fully convince me to spend a 1000 bucks [link] [comments]
Posted: 05 Nov 2020 02:59 PM PST Does anyone else have a feeling that iPhone X became snappier and more responsive after updating to iOS 14.2? [link] [comments]
Water damaged battery replacement Posted: 05 Nov 2020 02:44 PM PST I went to Best Buy today to replace my battery on my X that's at 78% capacity and they said they would have to send it off to Apple for at most 2 weeks because the indicator was tripped. They can't/aren't allowed to work on them. The guy said I could go to an Apple Store and they would be able to fix it in store because they have "specialized training" to replace the batteries with water damage or they would send it off and give me a loaner for the meantime. Is it even worth it to travel a few hours to an Apple store to try to get them to replace the battery? Would they even touch it? [link] [comments]
Water damaged iPhone X, got it working again. Probably just super lucky. Posted: 05 Nov 2020 01:41 PM PST In January of this year, celebrating the new year in the snowy mountains of Colorado while soaking in the hot tub, I repeatedly used my iPhone X in said hot tub and then set it on the side in the snow to dry off. Not the brightest move I know, but my judgement was skewed due to a questionable amount of tequila and white claw being consumed. We decided to call it a night, and my phone was unresponsive. In my intoxicated stupor, I set my phone down and forgot about it until the next morning. I woke up remembering my poor decisions with expensive technology, and immediately got to work in trying to dry my phone out. No, I did not use rice. I just left it on the heated floor in hopes that it would help the water evaporate. Well, the phone still did not turn on after two days, although I was having recurring dreams that it turned on and worked perfectly fine. My little brother said to use a hair dryer on it, and so i did, for like 4 hours at a safe distance so that it wouldn't burn up. Guess what! The combination of my sleepy premonitions, and my brothers sound advice, led to this beautiful $1000 device turning on again. Now, 10 months later, it is still working perfectly. Not sure if this was a fluke, some colorado mountain magic, or what, but here we are! (Upgrading to 12 Pro soon) [link] [comments]
Screen won’t respond and now FaceID won’t unlock phone. Can’t do a backup. Posted: 04 Nov 2020 06:14 PM PST My husband is on his 3rd iPhoneX. He had the first for 2 years, replaced through Asurion in August when the screen stopped responding to touch but the SIM reader wouldn't work properly so Asurion sent a second replacement. Now his screen stopped responding again yesterday. We were hoping to back up and then upgrade his phone through our carrier since he doesn't want a refurbished one again, but his FaceID won't work so he can't even unlock the phone to back it up. Any suggestions? We have the backup from August but he's done a lot on his phone since then and we were hoping someone has a solution to help us! [link] [comments]
Recommendations for Protective but minimalist case Posted: 04 Nov 2020 08:00 PM PST Hello, I have a tendency to drop my phone as I am a bit of a spas, and I need to get a new case as the one that I have is several years old and is falling apart. I would like one that will do its best to protect my phone, be minimalist (not doubling the size of my phone, and has a non-textured back side so I can attach my Pop Wallet. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! [link] [comments]
Face ID not working, True Tone missing, Battery draining Posted: 04 Nov 2020 06:57 PM PST Hey! I have an iPhone XS for 2 years now and the battery has degraded to 83%. Yesterday, my Face ID decided to stop working randomly. Literally it just happened. Every time I try to open my phone it gives me "Face ID will be available when iPhone cools down" message. I tried to set up a new Face ID - no luck, the same message appeared. I noticed that my screen had a blue hue when I have always had my True Tone turned on. When I went over settings and checked True Tone, the option was gone. My iPhone would get hot at the top part where the front cam, speakers & sensors are. I tried standing by the a/c to cool down my phone and Face ID actually worked when cooled! I still couldn't find True Tone tho. I was wondering what makes it overheat on light work? Like literally just chatting without anything running on the background and no other task open. It's so weird! I have never had a repair on my phone. No screen replacement, no battery replacement. I also did not drop it recently, or have it in contact with water. I am currently on iOS 14.1 but the issue happened prior to updating (I was on iOS 14, I guess.) I also have tried all the reset, force shut down, DFU recovery mode and fully restored my iPhone. Still no luck! [link] [comments] |
