2020 ipad pro stuck at 'It may take a few minutes to update'

    Posted: 05 Nov 2020 10:59 AM PST

So this is a fresh apple ID. I don't have an iphone. My ipad has been stuck at 'it may take a few minutes to set up your apple ID...'.

I tried restarting an no dice.

    Any ideas?

EDIT: I figured it out. Just log in without an apple ID and then do it in the settings. I'll leave this up because I had to dig for 10 extra minutes on google. Now it's on reddit!

Sync games data across iOS devices?

    Posted: 05 Nov 2020 11:14 AM PST

Hello, I'm going to get the new iPad Air soon, and I wanted to know if the game data will sync across my iPad and iPhone (I have 2TB iCloud). And if yes - when does it sync? Can I start playing on my iPhone and then go to my iPad ? Thanks in advance

Gaming on iPad Pro 12.9 (2020). Mainly Genshin Impact.

    Posted: 05 Nov 2020 10:58 AM PST

    Hey guys,

I'm wondering whether it is safe in the long run to game on the iPad Pro. I don't game much on it, but lately since Genshin Impact has been taking over the gaming world, I decided to try it out. Whenever I do play, the iPad gets VERY hot. I'm sure it shouldn't be a major issue, but am wondering if anyone had an issue with the iPad and gaming?

iPad 8th Generation App Icon Enlargement Options?

    Posted: 05 Nov 2020 07:48 AM PST

Hey guys, I just got my 94 year old grandmother an 8th generation Ipad for the main reason to Facetime with her great great grandchildren. But she also wants to text, search the web, read the news ... etc, or at least try. She has never used a computer before but has had an Android for about 2 months.

I've "dumbed" the iPad down the best I can with only the apps she will need, in hopes that she won't get to confused or open up something she doesn't need. I've already enlarged the font and made the icons bigger thru the settings. She currently has an Android phone and they have a 3rd party app that allowed me to enlarge the App icons grids to the point where 4 icons take up one page.

Like many elderly her vision isn't great so I was wondering if there were any 3rd party apps that could enlarge the icon grids she has on her homepage? I've tried searching but everything seems to point me only to the settings option that makes them bigger.

What features would you want in iPadOS 15?

    Posted: 05 Nov 2020 01:48 PM PST

This can be any feature you want, I'm curious what other users here would want. Personally, I'd like App Library and widgets on the Home Screen. I'd also love for some more wallpapers, maybe some iPad-specific wallpapers as well, and maybe the ability to run apps in windowed mode. Also, maybe multiple users, although realistically I doubt that'll ever happen. I know that not all of my ideas are very realistic, so I'd like to hear your ideas as well.

Mirror the iPad to Win PC without wifi?

    Posted: 05 Nov 2020 08:28 AM PST

I'm an artist and would like to stream the drawings I make in Procreate, so I'd like to mirror the iPad's (Pro 2018) screen to Win 10. Usually no problem, there's lots of Apps for Windows that you can sync with over wifi.

The wifi in my office is super unstable though, so I'd like to go for a cabled solution. I just can't find a way to do that. All apps I found only work through wifi or don't want to connect through USB. I also have a USB to DP cable, which allows me to mirror to a TV or a monitor, but not to my PC through graphics card.

    Anyone got an idea?

Podcasting with remote guest entirely on iPad?

    Posted: 05 Nov 2020 04:44 AM PST

    So here's the deal.

I'm trying to record calls with my guests so that I can use them for a podcast.

I want everything to be on iPad, but my friend will probably join from a PC/Mac.

So what I mean is that I connect on the call from my iPad, and I can record both voices on the iPad.

Zoom would be an example (cross platform), but I can't record from iPad, only from desktop. And I don't want to have my guests to have to record and send me the file each time.

    What options do I have?

    Display easy on the eyes?

    Posted: 05 Nov 2020 02:25 PM PST

I've always had problems with getting headaches/eye strains from using the earlier iPad models (1st gen Air).

Do you find eye strain less of a problem on any of the new models? And does True Tone and the anti-reflective coating make much of a difference?

What is the 8th gen iPad button like?

    Posted: 05 Nov 2020 12:05 AM PST

Hello, I'm wondering whether the new 8th generation iPad has a "real" button that you click (that physically gets into the iPad when you click it), or a capacitive button with haptic feedback (like on the iPhones 7 and 8)?

Sorry if this is a dumb question, I couldn't find anything related to the button on Apple's website.

iPad Pro 2nd gen 12.9 to 3rd gen 12.9, did not know battery is smaller

    Posted: 05 Nov 2020 08:57 AM PST

I have been using iPad Pro 2nd Gen 12.9 for 3 years. I have decided to switch to newer version. I sold mine with accessories $620 and got a used 3rd gen 12.9 without accessories for $760. I used coconut battery to check capacity and my old one and the new one has 88% by chance.

Anyway, I use it in the same way but my battery percentage dropped 13% more than the old one. I teach with ipad and airplay it for about 4 hours. Old one was dropping from 100% to 80% with that use but new one dropped to 63% with the same use. Than I checked the capacity of both and learned that 3rd gen had about 1100 mah smaller battery. I was thinking newer cpu consumes less energy but it seems that's not the case.

Do you think my 3rd gen has a bad battery or it is normal?

    iMac (2020) & iPad (2020) & Duet/Sidecar

    Posted: 05 Nov 2020 01:31 AM PST

Hi all, looking for a bit of advice

I work from home off a MacBook (2016) doing online teaching. I have a disability, so it is easier for me to actually write then it is to write on the screen with a mouse. My husband and I decided to buy an iPad (2020) earlier this year and I was able to download the app Duet onto both the MacBook & the iPad and use my Apple Pencil to write directly on the screen (which worked PERFECTLY). I was just using the free version, after the initial price of the app. However, a few weeks ago, the laptop stopped working and unfortunately could not be fixed, we upgraded to an iMac (2020). The iMac's sidecar feature is a little laggy sometimes, freezes sometimes and sometimes does not even show up on the computer as an option. So I downloaded Duet again and now I am unable to use the Apple Pencil or my finger when I am screen sharing, I can use the computer mouse but that is all.

Does anyone have any recommendations of other apps or easy fixes for these ones? - Am I doing something silly?

What are the advantages of annotating PDFs on PDF expert over GoodNotes?

Also, I'd like recommendations for other useful Apple Pencil apps, thanks!

Would anyone else love to see Blender or a similar 3D modeling tool on iPad?

Full Blender probably has too much going on, but a real 3D modeling tool would be awesome!

    Pencil 2 purchase… regrets?

    Posted: 04 Nov 2020 03:53 PM PST

Have any of you bought the Apple Pencil 2 and regretted it? Or, alternatively, have any of you bought it on a whim not expecting to like it, and now you can't imagine using the iPad without it?

This question is obviously not aimed at artists and students who need the Pencil… but people who bought it as a nonessential to try it out (and either loved it or regretted it).
