Any way to get the timer back on the Lock Screen in iOS 14.1? Posted: 05 Nov 2020 07:44 PM PST Hi all. I use the timer a lot throughout the day, and in the past if I looked at the Lock Screen, eventually the date would disappear and the time left on the timer would appear instead in an alternating fashion. This feature seems to have inactivated with the new update and I couldn't find any relevant settings to deactivate it. Are you aware of any way to get this back? It was convenient not having to unlock my phone to see how much time is remaining. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |
Curious: why do landlines support Caller ID better than iPhone/iOS? Posted: 05 Nov 2020 07:41 AM PST My landline IDs local businesses, national organizations, etc. while my iPhone doesn't. Why? Also, iPhone sometimes IDs call origination as 'United States', but later gets more specific under Recents call list. Why isn't it instantaneous the first time? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 Nov 2020 08:17 PM PST I need some help with setting up parental controls and can't seem to find answers to my specific question. We bit the bullet and got our kid an iPhone. I set up screen time so we could turn off purchasing and set up bedtime and stuff like that. I turned off Face ID for the App Store because my credit card is tied to the account but it won't even allow him to download free apps without the password which he doesn't have for obvious reasons. Is there another way to set everything up so that he can download free apps without having to come to me to type in the password but not allow him to buy anything? I know on his iPad we have it set up so that it just downloads the free apps without asking for a password but I can't find that setting on the iPhone. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 Nov 2020 08:55 PM PST Just curious but when you take out the screen to put pin a new replacement or to fix something is it completely necessary to put new adhesive on? Just wondering I have an iPhone X.. [link] [comments] |

[discussion]Uhh, my computer does a loop of detecting an apple device then not detecting it Posted: 05 Nov 2020 07:59 PM PST My computer detects and undetects apple devices, and idk what happens. (This Happens More Commonly On MacOS, not in windows) [link] [comments] |
Attempted to Update iPad Air 2 to iPadOS 14.2, and I think it's bricked Posted: 05 Nov 2020 07:52 PM PST I have an iPad Air 2 and I was running iPadOS 14.1. I saw that 14.2 was available so I attempted an over the air update today. The update process seemed pretty typical until the progress bar got to 100% and just got stuck there.
Sometimes the error is 4013, other times it's 4010. I've tried 3 different lightning cables and 3 different USB ports on my computer and it fails each time. iTunes is completely up to date on my computer. I don't have another computer to attempt to restore. The nearest Apple Store is an 8 hour drive. Any ideas how to fix it? [link] [comments] |
Macbook Pro 13" 2013 keyboard not working after login Posted: 05 Nov 2020 05:39 PM PST Hi, My Macbook Pro 2013's keyboard seem not to function properly after login. It works fine at login but when i'm in, it does not press some keys anymore. Any ideas why? Thank you! Edit: Solved!!!!!! Reinstall OS worked. [link] [comments] |
Switching to new iPhone issues with quick setup Posted: 05 Nov 2020 02:45 PM PST I'm upgrading my mums 7 to a newer one and it says on her 7 she's used 46gb and on the 11 it says that there's not enough storage to quick setup. Is this because it's doing the setup with a backup where there was more than 64gb of stuff or something else. [link] [comments] |
How do I clear “Other” data from iPhone 6 storage? Posted: 05 Nov 2020 07:05 PM PST I've tried a few methods from different websites but with no luck. Does anyone have a sure fire method? It's taking up over 50% of my storage. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 05 Nov 2020 04:06 PM PST Hi everyone! I've noticed that since updating, or at least since updating, to the Ios 14 (newest software model) my iPhone x screen goes either completely black and I have to hard restart the phone or it shuts down completely. This usually happens when I am in mid-use, either messaging, texting, or surfing apps. Then boom, all of a sudden my phone is completely black and unresponsive. I've had to change the screen 2xs due to the x touchscreen manufacture error. I just got a new replacement screen a week or so after Apple wouldn't fix my screen a third time since warranty expired. Anyone experiencing this glitch and/or know how to resolve? thanks! [link] [comments] |

Posted: 05 Nov 2020 09:49 PM PST Upgraded to iOS 14.2 this morning, and noticed this afternoon that my Series 6 showed as disconnected from my phone. When I launch the Watch App in iOS it loads for a few seconds and then crashes. I've power cycled both the watch and the phone with the same result. What's also odd is that the S6 shows as connected in Settings -> Bluetooth. Anyone else experiencing this? I recently restored my phone from scratch (fresh start!) which required I reset the watch as well, so hoping I don't need to go through that process again on both devices again. [link] [comments] |
Water on MagSafe 60watt DC supply Posted: 05 Nov 2020 09:27 PM PST I spilt water on the power supply and the power bar was off so it wasn't powered while wet. I don't know if any water got in the PSU. Now It's been in a bag of salt for 7 hours. Is it safe to try and power my MacBook? [link] [comments] |

I am going insane trying to figure out why my Mac crashes periodically Posted: 05 Nov 2020 02:47 PM PST For the past few weeks, my MacBook Pro (Retina 15in, 2014, running 10.15.7) has been crashing on average a few times a day. These appear to be kernel panics but I don't know how to look at the logs for more detailed information. I try to look at the "Previous shutdown cause", and I get very many rows with -128, which seems to mean very little. Can someone help me figure out what I must do to debug this? So far, I have: - Turned my computer on and off again (many times)- Reset my PRAM- Reset SMC- Turned on and off bluetooth- Run/not run heavy apps like virtual machines- Installed a third party app to force the discrete GPU to see if that crashes it (it doesn't) Independently, I have also had the battery recently replaced on this Mac. This problem existed before and continues to after this battery change. [link] [comments] |
This is kind of a complicated question but here we go Posted: 05 Nov 2020 08:44 PM PST So i have a currently running subscription to Apple Music. I have an external hard drive with a couple of tracks i made myself (like remixes of stuff) that don't exist on the service. Is it possible to have those tracks downloaded on my iPhone independent of the Apple Music service? Just a point that the reason i ask is because i know about the auto updating of the Apple Music library when you add new songs, i'm just wondering if using the old school sync function for my tracks is gonna fuck with Apple Music's stuff at all Hope this mess makes sense. Thanks in advance [link] [comments] |
How to sort songs within a playlist in Apple Music Posted: 05 Nov 2020 08:33 PM PST I use apple music for the Galaxy S8 and iTunes for Windows 10. There's no option for me to sort songs in a playlist by artist, title, genre etc. Edit: 1.) click on the playlist to sync the sorted playlist across Windows and Android, right click the playlist on the sidebar or anywhere on screen then select "Copy to Play Order". after the devices are done syncing, they should be in the same order :) [link] [comments] |
MacBook Pro 15 screen replacement Posted: 05 Nov 2020 08:33 PM PST I have a friend that has a 2015 MacBook Pro 15 model A1398 and I was wondering the best place to pick up a screen for it. I googled it to see what I could find and I found out that it's a unibody screen and that it's fairly easy to replace. When looking up a screen for the replacement, all I could find are very expensive eBay posts. One was very damaged at around $200 and the other was almost new at around $650. I was wondering where you guys would get a screen for a decent price that wasn't damaged. All tips help and I would love to hear feedback on what to do with the situation. [link] [comments] |
How to erase late 2013 MacBook Pro Retina when disk drive strangely does not appear? Posted: 05 Nov 2020 08:19 PM PST Hey all, The short version of this story is: laptop is in mint condition, and one September evening, I had about 8-10 SD cards that I wanted to open in Disk Utility and erase them. I don't know what happened, but clearly I fucked up somewhere and my 500GB drive suddenly got partitioned. Comp worked fine, but I started to notice strange things, such as Logic Pro X not responding more than usual. Two weeks ago, turn it on and get the flashing folder of death. I panicked, shut it off, and upon trying to turn on again, it booted up fine. A week later, folder of death again. Wouldn't work all week, brought it to my friend's tonight and sure enough, it worked AGAIN fine. We opened First Aid on both partitioned drives and all seemed to work. Comp is fully backed up, all I want to do is RESET TO FACTORY SETTINGS but I knew as soon as we turned it off, the drives would disappear. Sure enough, turn on holding CMD + R and upon Internet Recovery, it won't show any of my drives, therefore I cannot do anything. I'm almost positive my drive is corrupted, but not ruined or crashed. It's also not a logic board problem as it works fine. It's as if something I did in Disk Utility fucked it up and all I want is to delete everything and start from scratch. SOMEONE HELP (for real though, I would appreciate it more than you know) Cheers x [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 Nov 2020 04:31 PM PST Today when I tried to open my messages on my Macbook Pro 13", my messages app wasn't opening. So I force quit it thinking that would help but that didn't. I then restarted my computer, not fixed. Updated my computer, not fixed. I think that I've done everything, I even scanned my computer with malware bytes and nothing malicous came up. Posted: 05 Nov 2020 07:43 PM PST So I've noticed my airpods pro only played in one ear, and when trying to turn on the noise cancellation it said I had to have both airpods in my ears even though I already had. Anyone can help me with this? [link] [comments] |
