    How do you guys protect your extremely thin (6.1mm) iPads such as Air and Pro from bending easily? Do cases actually protect that from happening?

    Apple Pencil Gen.1 activates itself while attached to my case and drains battery. Anyone else experience the same?

    Long story short.

    Charged my pencil to 100%, wake up in the morning to it at around 35%.

    Now, at first I thought it might be defective, but what I realised is that the pen, while attached to my iPads case, automatically connects with the iPad the second I move my device in its case.

    Is this a known "issue"? If so, what could you recommend me? Simply not have the Pen attached to my iPads case? That would kinda defeat the cases purpose though, I specifically got it because it had an attachment for my Apple Pencil. :/

    Or should I rather just have bluetooth turned off whenever not in use?

    However then I'd need to manually pair the pencil all the time, which would suck as well.

    So, how has your experience been and what solution would you recommend me?

    GeForce Now on IOS!

    GeForce Now is now a thing for iOS and iPadOS. Instead of an app, it uses a web app that you can then just add to your home screen. It supports gamepads like the Xbox One S controller (what I use). Once you link your steam account, you can play any games you own on steam that are supported, (I think most are..?). I don't have the premium version, just the free one you can use for an hour a day. There is a bit of latency, but at least it's a thing now. Enjoy!

    Engraving Ideas & Google Sheet Tool

    I'm looking at buying an iPad and like many others I came here wondering if people have any engraving ideas. I wanted to maximize the amount of information I could cram on to the engraving. It wasn't hard to figure out the limit is 34 characters per line.

    I made this simple tool in Google Sheets that lets you play around with 34 characters per line. Basically the idea is to cram as much as of whatever you want on there and use "spaces" or other characters to format the info as you see fit. There are conditionally formatted icons with counters for both rows that lets you know when you are close or over the 34 characters per line limit.

    I'm sure people could get pretty creative in how they optimize the 34 + 34 characters. You can use alphanumeric and most of the regular special characters (!@#$%) It looks like you can't use: * --<> or any other special characters. Outside of those exclusions, I think it lines up with basic ASCII. Here's what I did:

    I owned this case for over a year now. After 6 months of buying it, somehow air started to enter to the case like this:

    I contacted Logitech to process warranty and they sent me another case. To my surprise this case is starting to have the same problem.

    Anyone knows what is happening? Should I contact Logitech again?

    Signature on Outlook 365 - picture not possible?

    Hey!

    So i know that the the office suite on iPad isn't the most perfect product. But i cant add a signature with a picture for emails in the outlook app. Is this just something that i didn't see or is the functionality in the app just bad? I mean the desktop version is already much better but thats such a basic function and it doesn't seem to work by just copying it. I saw something that you should save the picture locally as file in the files app but nothing happens when im inserting it. Can somebody help or is that just not possible?

    Volume limit

    My kid watches youtube and plays games with the volume to the max. No matter how much I ask him to lower the volume it will be raised to the max a minute after.

    There are many guides out there such as this https://www.howtogeek.com/224491/how-to-volume-limit-your-iphone-ipod-and-other-apple-devices-and-save-your-kids-hearing/

    But the 'volume limit' setting shown in the link above does not exist on the latest ipad OS version.

    Has this option been moved elsewhere or was it simply removed? I really want to get a solution for this other than covering the external speakers with cardboard.

    Best app to keep book clippings?

    What's a good app where I can keep photos of the paragraphs I find interesting from the dead-tree books I'm reading? What I'm hoping for:

    - Easy scanning of parts of book pages (take a photo, crop/adjust size, angle, and fix colors to make it readable)

    - A way to organize the clippings

    - OCR, so I can find them back.

    I've tried Evernote: it has OCR, and the companion app Scannable is pretty good — but when sending to Evernote it considers all pieces of text business cards, and there's no way to tell it otherwise. It's also quite slow.

    I've also tried a Japanese "BookClip" app, which does more or less what I'm after, but it's very unstable, crashes and loses all data.

    Is there anything out there that I can use? Thanks

    Why are photos not shared between the Photos app and the Files app?

    It might seem pretty basic but I still don't understand the reasoning. In android I can click a photo, save from a webpage, or get though message and it will appear both in the gallery as well as in the File explorer. I can change folder, reorganize and it'll show accordingly in the gallery. Why does iOS still adamant about sand boxing photos?

    Screw the Files app, I want the Finder on my iPad.

    Seeing how they adapted the Finder on MacOS Big Sur to be a little more touch friendly, I don't see why they can't put the damn Finder on my iPad.

    Saving files and exporting or doing anything on the app shouldn't be complicated. I shouldn't have to scroll TF on my share sheet tryna to look where the hell is the option to "Save to Files", only to find out the developer decided it doesn't deserve to have that option!! (Looking at you Google Docs).

    The swipe from the right side is always reserved for SlideOver. You can't summon SlideOver from the left, so I hope in the future Apple can integrate a Mac-like menu bar from the left side so they can finally build a Finder app and THROW that crappy Files app to the trash!

    Is there a way to get a split keyboard back on iPad?

    I recently moved from an iPad Air 3rd gen to an iPad Air 4th gen (2020), and I discovered the split keyboard is not an option anymore. I used the split keyboard quite a lot, I found it to be the best layout for me, I can type faster on a split keyboard than the floating one. Apparently this has been going on already for iPad Pro users.

    Does anyone know a way to get a split keyboard back? I've tried a few alternative ones like gboard and Microsoft's swiftkey, but they don't seem to support it either, at least I didn't see how. Now I'm wondering if this is something that has to be supported at the OS level.

    MagSafe charging from iPad Pro

    I attempted to charge my iPhone 12 using the MagSafe puck attached to my iPad Pro's usb-c port but nothing happened. No indicators on the iPhone or anything. Works fine if I plug the puck into a "traditional outlet" based plug.

    Has anyone else experienced this?

    Is there any app that allows rewind and forwarding in PiP mode on iOS for locally saved videos? I’m currently using documents (since I need the folder and file based storage to sort videos unlike many other video apps which randomly store the video files)

    Setting up iPad Pro as second monitor

    I was teaching virtually from home for about a month, and was able to use my iPad by connecting to Teams and sharing screen. A couple of times a day there were disconnections, but I was able to quickly join meetings again.

    However, since returning to school I have not been able to use my iPad because it disconnects from meeting due to school's wifi connectivity issues. And connecting back takes so long!

    I learned about setting up iPad as second monitor from another teacher on Facebook using the Duet app. I googled free alternatives though because I don't want to spend anymore $. I'm attempting to make Space Desk work, but I'm only seeing one display in laptop settings. How do I set it up as two separate displays? Also, can I use Apple Pencil with Space Desk? I mostly want to annotate my PDF presentations, and use a whiteboard app. If I could figure out how to make classroom smartboard work, I would. I'm having problems with everything it seems.

    This is what I have: Personal MBP 2015 (unfortunately not sidecar compatible)

    Work HP Windows 10 laptop

    The leaks kind of stopped after Apple's releasing of the next gen air and regular iPad. I want to get the mini 5 myself but I won't do it if a new Mini comes out next year.. what do you guys think will there be a next gen Mini next year?
