How to stop downloads downloading onto other users? Posted: 09 Nov 2020 12:19 AM PST As title says. Whenever I download a program or whatever it automatically downloads onto my brothers user account. Is there anyway I can stop this so it only downloads onto mine. [link] [comments] |

2009 Macbook Pro with no hard drive Posted: 08 Nov 2020 09:21 AM PST I received 2009 macbook pro with no hard drive and no ac adapter. I pressed the battery indicator button and it seems like the battery is mostly has a full charge (minus 1 green led) but nothing happens then I try to power it on. I'm wondering can the macbook post without a hard drive, or could there be something else wrong with it. Is it possible to just install windows/linux on it? From little I've researched, it seems impossible it's impossible to do anything without macos installed first. So right now, I'm in the process of cleaning it up and don't know if I want to drop money on upgrading (ssd, more ram, dvd to sata adapter for an extra hdd/ssd, ac adapter) before I know how usable this is going to be. Also, what kinds of issues/problems does 2009 macbook pros have/I should know about. -edit- Regarding the price/value, this is how much I think it would cost:
100$ for a spare computer, or perhaps I can give to parents since all they do is stream/facebook/web browse etc -edit 2- I found an old ssd in the closet and put it in. Still doesn't power on. Also tried reseating ram, swapping ram slots, putting in another set of ram. Tried resetting SMC (disconnected battery connector, held power for 30 secs, reconnected and pressed power). Tried various button combos + power button, still nothing. I took another look at the motherboard, I don't see any physical damage or burn ins, and everything seems to be connected. I think I've tried everything minus plugging in ac adapter since I don't have one. Battery indicator still says full charge when I press it, but I can't rule something is up with the power delivery without plugging into wall. Anything else I should/can try? Is this something I can just take to the apple store and have it checked (without paying?, and not the initial owner of the device?) [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Nov 2020 12:09 PM PST I recently bought a MacBook Air and I know it's not a gaming computer but I've been using it a little for among us, it's getting very hot though while using it for that. Should I stop using it for that? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Nov 2020 04:25 PM PST I am wondering whether I bring or not my Macbook inside of a cover, just because I want to make that process quick. I am actually bringing 2 laptops with me and I don't want to remove both of their covers every time I go through the security screening. Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Nov 2020 02:44 PM PST Hey Guys, considering that my keyboard replacement program is expiring in 1 year (last for 4 years), i'm starting to be concerned about my keyboard. I have seen a LOT of people having problem with their butterfly keyboard, however I don't think I ever had it.. yet. I use this machine daily for work and i type a lot. But I don't like to type with sticky hands and I never eat at my computer table. Also if i'm working from home I use an extra magic keyboard too. Probably that's why the keyboard is not breaking yet. I feel like this keyboard will be a time bomb somewhere around the future though, is there any way I can use that keyboard replacement program somehow before its expiring? Considering that its just fine. Are there anyone in this sub that never replace their butterfly keyboard and it still goes fine? [link] [comments] |
USB Mouse and Keyboard randomly stops working on Macbook Pro 2020 Posted: 08 Nov 2020 06:17 PM PST Specs: Macbook Pro 13-inch 2020 Catalina 10.15.5 Mouse: Redragon M607 Keyboard: HyperX Alloy Core RGB Has anyone had issues with their USB mouse and/or keyboard cutting out randomly? Mine seems to cut out every 3-5 hours and won't stop working until a hard restart is done. I do not believe it is my USB-C docking station/adapters, because I have had this problem on two separate ones. [link] [comments] |
Does outlet adapter affect charging speed? Posted: 08 Nov 2020 12:09 PM PST I live in Europe and thinking of picking up an American MBP 13 2020 because they are considerably cheaper at my local retailer. The charging brick worries me... if i'll end up always using adapter, will it slow down the charging speed? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Nov 2020 03:19 PM PST Hello. I have little money and would like to buy a MacBook that would be good for iMovie, Unity3D and general productivity. Can anyone point me in the right direction of if and where I can buy a MacBook with decent power for under £300. [link] [comments] |
Monitor speaker not recognized after long disconnect but video signal works Posted: 08 Nov 2020 05:49 AM PST I have a MBP 13' 2020 4xTB3 and the LG Ultrafine 5k current generation and whenever I connect the MBP after a longer time (e.g. a couple hours), the monitor speaker are not recognized (and also the LG Monitor Manager doesn't "see" the monitor) and I have to restart my Mac to fix the problem. I currently connect with the upper left TB3 port. I also have a 2017 MBP 13' and there the issue is not presenting. Any idea? I checked the MIDI setup and restarted coreaudiod as suggested at other places. Should I contact Apple or LG about this issue? [link] [comments] |
My MBA 2017 trackpad freaks out Posted: 08 Nov 2020 12:33 AM PST When there is something below it, for example a table, it starts jumping around and doesn't register my inputs. When I pick it up and use it that way, it's fine. This is also not constant, it was happening a minute ago but now it's fine. This has repeated several times over a couple of weeks. What can I do? MacBook Pro fan spinning when uploading YouTube video Posted: 08 Nov 2020 01:57 AM PST Hi, I've recently started to upload videos on YouTube and I noticed that while they are being uploaded, the fans in my MacBook start spinning like crazy. I suppose this is due to the airport card since I also noticed its temperature rises noticeably. But why does this only happen when uploading files and not when downloading large files too? Did you also experience this issue? [link] [comments] |
