Apps that have a big impact on your routines. Posted: 08 Oct 2020 05:25 PM PDT TL;DR - What apps, stock or not, made a notable improvement to how you went about your normal routines? (Especially if you went from Android to iPhone.) TL - Longtime Android user, finally bought a refurb iPhone 7 to test the Apple waters after years of avoiding the brand. My sim card is still in my Note 9 for the moment but, after tinkering with this iPhone for a bit, I get it. I suspect my bank account is going to hate me once cyber Monday rolls around, depending on what deals pop up. One thing that struck me is, even without the sim card, I'm using the iPhone a lot more for basic tasks. I used to love the freedom I had on Android to tweak things - that became especially true after getting into custom ROM's - but that turned into a cycle of perpetual dissatisfaction with my setup. I was using my phones constantly, but I wasn't doing a whole lot with them because I felt like I could always do a bit more to make it "perfect." New ROM, new launcher, new magisk module, etc.As much as I dislike OneUI on the Note 9, at least the threat of losing proper S-Pen support forced me to stay on that ROM. (I also use Linux. Those familiar with that are probably wincing right now, after everything I've said.) I set up the iPhone and I just...started doing things. A quick runthrough of the settings and a bit of home customizing, and I was done. (Mostly. There's still a bit to do, but nothing major.) Obviously I got into using my Android phones for certain things, but a lot of basic tasks fell to the side. The iPhone feels like a tool rather than a project, and I feel more inclined to do stuff with it rather than to it. Hence this post. I know the question is a bit nebulous, but that's the point; I'm looking for those apps which, when you started using them, made you think, "Wow. This makes things a lot easier." Lowest iPhone brightness setting still too high? You can get it even lower via accessibility. Posted: 08 Oct 2020 03:13 PM PDT I originally posted this on r/LPT but thought it would also be useful here! - Sometimes laying in bed at night, that lowest brightness setting on iPhones is still brighter than the sun. Step 1) Go to settings > accessibility > zoom > zoom filter > activate 'Low Light'. Step 2) Go to settings > accessibility > accessibility shortcut (all the way down) > select zoom. Now when you triple tap the lock button, the brightness will go lower than the lowest setting! Enjoy your eyes! Ps, you can also set up the 'triple back tap' to activate low light.
