[Meta] Changes coming to the subreddit re: Self Promo Saturday Posted: 30 Sep 2020 12:07 PM PDT I guess this will be rappleOS 20.9.1? We heard loud and clear the concerns you all shared last Monday/Tuesday. We didn't get to live-discuss what we were planning in the previous thread, but as a team, we decided to meet both sides in the middle. Here are the changes coming to Self Promo Saturday (SPS):
Since Apple news/discussion are scarce on weekends, SPS threads tend to stick around for more time compared to other threads. This effectively will prevent the promo threads from dominating the subreddit's front page for 2+ days as Monday threads will push the SPS posts down.
This is something that we already do, but we don't have it listed on our rules/wiki. Just putting it here (and officially in the rules) so that developers have a warning. We want to give devs the opportunity to get their apps in as many devices as possible, but we also don't want the subreddit to become an ad board for them. These cases will be handled in a case-by-case basis and all discussions about this (per dev/account) should be discussed in modmail/private messages
We've seen an uptick of new accounts sharing their apps on the subreddit. Those accounts often have no history and just use the sub as their ad board. If you have a new Reddit account, contribute in the subreddit (and other subreddits) before making a SPS thread
We want devs to at least put in some effort to promote their apps (in turn preventing a lot of hit and run promo posts). Use this space to your liking (share your personal/app's background, share any future ideas you have, etc.). You should always put in the price of your app (upfront, or any IAPs) and the link to your app (I mean...).
This was the case before we announced the previous changes. SPS is only reserved for developers. Notes:
See you guys on the next one. Peace ✌️ Wear a mask. Be safe. [link] [comments]

Posted: 30 Sep 2020 05:24 AM PDT I know the feature was available before but was removed after the official release of iOS14. After yesterday's update, I am again able to watch some videos in 4K. For example, this video has the 2160p option in the app. Screenshot: https://i.imgur.com/uwN8TCU.jpg [link] [comments]
