EasyMQTT - MQTT client to connect your home automation setup to Siri Shortcuts Posted: 04 Oct 2020 11:07 AM PDT Name: EasyMQTT Price: Free with $1.99 in-app purchase I felt like iOS (or mobile in general) lacked a simple and easy to use MQTT client. I decided to build my own, definitely aware that this would be a completely niche app. It started off with very limited features, but over time while using it with my own setup I kept adding new functionality. The most interesting feature is Siri Shortcuts support. It allows you to connect actions on your phone to your existing MQTT and Home Automation setup. With the new automation triggers in iOS 14, this opens up a lot of possibilities for automating things. It's also possible to trigger sending MQTT messages over Siri or manually run shortcuts over the Shortcuts widget. The app supports both iPhones as well as iPads (iOS 13+) with all the fancy things like split screen and Slide Over. I feel like the app has a lot of potential and I already have some ideas for new features I'd like to add. Some things I'm considering are adding a Watch app, adding macOS support and I'd also like to check out the possibility of adding widgets for iOS 14. As for pricing, I was considering making this a paid app but decided to make it free with an option to unlock more features via in-app purchase. Would love to get some feedback as well as ideas for some new features! [link] [comments]
Take Animated 3D photos with 140mm Posted: 04 Oct 2020 09:46 AM PDT Hi everyone, I'm the developer of 140mm, and I'm bringing to you the newest way to capture and share 3D photos. It's a free app without a subscription, and a lifetime IAP to unlock some pro editing features. You can download it here. I'll be hosting an AMA down below where I'll be happy to talk about the computer vision and ML behind the app, and pretty much whatever questions you guys have. There's nothing too proprietary with my algorithms, and I'm a firm believer in education, so I'll be happy to get in the weeds. Why should I download? The problem with a lot of 3D photos is that they still feel 2 dimensional. You still are only working with a single photograph, and as such, you're limited on what you can see in 3D space. If I take a traditional 3D photo of a dog, the depth dimension only allows me to add effects that were available to me in 2D space, such as bokeh. With 140mm, I take multiple exposures from different viewpoints, and stitch them all together to create a very sparse depth map. When animating these exposures together you get a much wider field of view, and you capture a moment of time with a much greater perspective. It's sort of like a Live Photo, except it captures perspective instead of time. But both create a much richer viewing experience. Why did you build this? I got really into retro photography a few years ago, and found this camera called the Nishika n8000. It was truly ahead of its time, and shot 4 simultaneous exposures from different viewpoints. The camera was a failed product, which is why most of us have never heard of it, but it's been brought back to life with the advent of the GIF. Right now the process of creating wigglegrams is quite difficult. I shoot on 35mm film, get that developed, open it up in photoshop, align my images and then export. I wanted to bring this magic to your phone, and here we are! Monetization strategy I'm using the lifetime value technique to generate sales. Right now my IAP is $1.99 and is a lifetime pass. This is certainly going to go up over time as more features get added, so if you want to unlock all the pro features now and in the future, this is the time to do it. [link] [comments]

Posted: 04 Oct 2020 09:40 AM PDT For example here I have a widget with date, the next upcoming birthday, the time and my steps. Fully custom built. A lot of information in just a small widget: https://i.imgur.com/avT6QGF.jpg I started to build this app directly after WWDC this year. So it's not just a me-too widget app. And we all know there's a lot of them currently after they saw the success of Widgetsmith. Here you can see some of the watch styles: https://i.imgur.com/lAmt4Ge.jpg And currently I'm building a new type of calendar block which is a list of your upcoming events and shows as many as there's room for it. And the cool thing is when you add a second block of this type the list just continues there. (This will probably be in the next update 1.0.8) https://i.imgur.com/usrDqjg.jpg Oh and it's free to try, no subscription stuff. Just a one time purchase to unlock if you like it. Here's the appstore link: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/id1531359008 I also started a subreddit where I post dev updates etc and maybe we also can start to share widget creations there /r/Widgeridoo Thanks for reading this far! Live countdown to important events on your Home Screen Posted: 04 Oct 2020 05:32 AM PDT There's been an influx of apps that add Home Screen widgets for iOS 14. However, I couldn't find a clean, free, and private option to simply add my own events (e.g. important birthdays, exams, etc. ) to my Home Screen. So my friend and I built one. The app does one thing: keep track, down to the second, of any event you want. Of course, it's completely free and private as apps should be. Get it now: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/78years/id1533535854 [link] [comments]
Posted: 04 Oct 2020 08:17 AM PDT Hi all, It's been a heck of a year for fires in CA, and I got tired of waiting for purple air to load when I wanted an up-to-date AQI - I so I made Paku, a dead-simple widget that shows you the AQI from the nearest outdoor Purple Air sensor. Here's a link: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/paku-aqi-widget/id1534130193 I was inspired by http://aqi.wtf, and kept it pretty simple at first. There's definitely a few smaller features I want to follow up with though, and maybe some bigger ones if I have time. Enjoy! [link] [comments]
Posted: 04 Oct 2020 05:35 AM PDT We are three software engineering students, who got interested in the scientific background of breathing. We tried various breathing techniques, including Wim Hof, and got most excited about the Heart Rate Variability & Breathwork training to improve focus and lowering stress and anxiety - mainly because of its scientific evidence. We found out about it through this episode of Tim Ferris Show. We based our approach on a medical protocol done in expensive clinics - Tim uses the same approach. Heart Rate Variability training addresses the autonomous nervous system and helps you ideally strengthen it by finding the optimal breathing frequency individual for you. We've been working on it for the last year and are planning to launch our beta soon, now we are looking for beta testers. [link] [comments]
Elytra - Simple & Private Feed Reader Posted: 04 Oct 2020 05:42 AM PDT Name: Elytra Pricing: 14-day free trial (no credit card required) and then $1/month subscription (or $11/year). Trial expiry does not start your paid subscription. App Store: https://apps.apple.com/in/app/elytra/id1433266971 Website: elytra.app Hi r/Apple, I recently released v2 of my app, Elytra. It's a Feed Reader with a native article rendering engine (first of its kind):
The app does not support other aggregation services like Feedly, Feedbin, etc. Its also completely private. The app does not collect any personally identifiable information from you. All metrics are anonymous and only used to generate a rudimentary recommendations feed to make finding feeds easier for you and everyone else. The macOS App will be releasing around the release of macOS Big Sur. [link] [comments]
WatchFeed - Feedly, finally on your wrist Posted: 04 Oct 2020 08:21 AM PDT Hi guys, I recently made an Apple Watch app that allows you to read Feedly feeds on the Watch: WatchFeed. WatchFeed has many features that the official Feedly iOS app provides, like the 'All' feed, read later and saving to boards. If you use Feedly a lot, it would be awesome if you checked it out! I found out Substack doesn’t have an app, so I made one Posted: 04 Oct 2020 06:16 AM PDT I was surprised to find out Substack doesn't have an app. If you want to write from your iPad, you have to do it in a browser tab. Like an animal. I was inspired and built Compose for Substack, a clean, beautiful, native Substack editor for iOS and iPadOS (macOS version coming with Big Sur).
Pricing You can publish or schedule up to three posts for free. After that, Compose requires a Pro Subscription for $5/month, the price of a Patreon. Subscriptions fund ongoing work to keep Compose compatible with Substack and to add cool new features. Cool tech stuff The app is built in almost all SwiftUI 2.0. It does wrap UIKit for the text editor, which has live syntax highlighting so Free stuff If you are interested, please PM me for promo codes for 3 months free. I'm a former journalist, so I'm also running a special so if you are a working or aspiring journalist, I'd be happy to give you codes for 6 months free. [link] [comments] |
