App Store nearly doubles Google's Play Store revenue in Q3 despite boom in Android app installs

New iOS 14 widget: stickies/memos and photos on the home screen with a nearly invisible widget label (i.e. no "Widget" text under the widget).

    Posted: 04 Oct 2020 01:36 AM PDT

We developed a new iOS 14 home screen widget creator app called –•–. Why this name? Because not many people would like every single photo or sticky note to be labeled with the name of the app that was used to create it. Screenshot:

    https://imgur.com/a/UcsjHLj

Apple reviewed and accepted our app and you can get it on the App Store:

    https://apps.apple.com/app/id1533706044

All widget sizes are supported. Long-press the widget on the home screen to select a different widget type. What other types of widgets other than pictures and sticky notes would you add to our app?

Tangerine: your guide to daily self-care (and App Store’s official Twitter account tweeted about us yesterday!!)

    Posted: 03 Oct 2020 11:41 PM PDT

Tangerine is an app that allows you to form habits, track your mood and journal. All in one app. That means you won't need 3 different apps (and subs) on your iPhone when it comes to taking good care of yourself anymore ☺️

You can check it out here:

Another really cool and exciting thing that I wanted to share with you is that yesterday the official App Store's Twitter account tweeted about us: https://twitter.com/appstore/status/1312414603725471745?s=12. I am in awe because a few months ago I've set account notifications for their Twitter account hoping that one day I'd see them tweet about our app. That finally happened yesterday. It's amazing to see what perseverance and hard work can get you.

We've also been heavily promoted on the App Store since the iOS 14 launch, leading to about 90k downloads since September 16th.

I'd love to hear your thoughts and feedback on it 🙏🏻

    ‎CPU8

    Posted: 03 Oct 2020 11:12 PM PDT

Several years ago Ben Eater published a series of videos illustrating how to build a breadboard 8-bit CPU. These have spawned a great deal of enthusiasm around the world for the topic. This basic CPU provides a clear view of how a CPU works internally and the relationship between the CPU instructions, the behind the scenes microcode and how this all relates to software written by people.

I have developed a couple of iOS apps to reflect this work geared toward high school students who have interest in computers. As it turns out, lots of computer programmers have found the apps to be interesting as well. To this end the apps have a common brief history of computing to augment the learning experience.

CPU8 and CPU8+ provide a CPU simulator and instruction assembler plus background documentation and a programming manual.

They differ in that CPU8 is the rock standard breadboard simulator that includes an 8-bit bus and registers but only has 4-bit addressing (limiting programs to a tiny address space of 16 bytes. Each instruction takes 1 byte of address space. The programs are therefore very limited. It adheres to the SAP-1 specifications and is Touring complete.

CPU8+ is extended from the base and provides the same 8-bit bus and registers but also provides 8-bit address space (1K address space) and each instruction takes up either a single byte or more commonly 2 bytes.

I'd love to hear any feedback you have from this work on how to improve it in future releases. Both apps are in the App Store and are free.

    Please check out:

    CPU8 — https://apple.co/36kDLPh

    CPU8+ — https://apple.co/3n70l3C

I am also working on a CPU PRO version that will incorporate full SAP-3 design that is basically a clone of the Intel 8008 which was part of the 8080/8086 processor line that was used in the original IBM PC.

[Self Promo Sunday] I made an app you can only ever use once! The pressure is on!

    Posted: 03 Oct 2020 04:51 PM PDT

Hello! I have just released my latest app, "1 Chance" Initially built as a way of me learning how to improve my programming skills during Lockdown I turned it into a full app! It is a collection of 14 mini games which will test your speed, dexterity and logic, but there is a twist. You can only play it once so the pressure is on!

    https://apps.apple.com/us/app/id1529736678

    *14 mini games

    *Global Leaderboards

    *Secret games

*Free App (IAP are included but only if you would like to tip! No paywalls!)

A game that has no retention after a play-through is completely unheard of and I wanted to do something a little different, After doing tons of research I couldn't find a game that was anything like "1 Chance"

I hope you have a much fun playing and aiming for the the top spot of the global leaderboards as I had making the app!

Any questions etc, please feel free to ask!

The First Anniversary of My App Qoin - Minimalistic Budget Tracker

    Posted: 04 Oct 2020 02:13 AM PDT

    Hello!
I'm Dmitriy Vinnichuk, senior product designer and founder of Qoin - Expenses and Incomes app. It's been a very interesting and challenging year, since I submitted my app on the App Store.

Long story short. I used to count my finances for a long time and couldn't found the app, that would fit my needs, due to a design, user experience or speed. That's why I decided to solve this problem and provide people a beautiful, simple, useful and fast product.

As you can see from my specialization and app itself, I created a minimalistic and clean design, so users can focus on things that matter, interact a way faster and save their time.

Create unlimited budgets, custom categories, add new entries in just 2 actions, auto dark and light modes, money transfer between budgets, simplified stats, handy widget and more.

For now, app has 40k+ downloads, 1k+ of active users daily, and it's a big inspiration and pleasure for me to see from feedbacks, how my product helps people. It's been a nice year with ups and downs and I have a big roadmap for Qoin's improvement.

Here's a short list of upcoming updates and future plans:

    1) iOS 14 widgets - next week.
    2) Calculator, while adding new entry - next week.
    3) Changeable app icon - next week.
    4) iCloud synchronization - November 2020.
    5) Currency exchange in Transfer - November 2020.
    6) 4 new localizations - November 2020.
    7) Apple Watch app - December 2020.
    8) Redesigned Stats and Categories control - December 2020.
    9) Recurring entries - December 2020.
... and much more in 2021.

Due to the celebration of the first anniversary, I prepared a special offer, that will be available for a limited time. Also, later today in this thread, I will share 10 promo codes, so don't miss your chance!

Let me know what you think about Qoin or share your experience of using it. Every feedback matters. Let's improve it together!
