How do I prevent macOS from starting apps after crash? Posted: 08 Sep 2020 12:52 AM PDT So my Macbook (Pro 2020, macOS 10.15.6) just rebooted after waking it up from sleep-mode. I find it inconvenient that all apps start again after doing so. My workaround is to wait another at least 5mins after rebooting, to let the system show all popups and „recovery-file" menus and THEN go through them all… How do I prevent the system from doing so? If it starts new I want a „clean" start and not the same mess I left it with (which made it crash obviously). Not to mention, that some apps only show the file recovery menus when being restarted entirely as I just noticed... [link] [comments]

iTunes (or Music) app stops playing songs in between the track Posted: 08 Sep 2020 12:47 AM PDT Hi! I'm currently on macOS Catalina (10.15.6) and the music app on my MacBook Pro tends to stop playing manually added tracks (mp3 Giles) in random places in between. However, this doesn't happen to the songs I've added before. This bug only seems to be effecting the new tracks I add manually. I've seen some similar posts online about similar bugs related to the crossfade option, however disabling crossfade doesn't seem to solve the issue. Can someone please provide a solution? First time formating a mac and I think I might have messed up Posted: 07 Sep 2020 11:46 PM PDT Hi, I have a mackbook air 2018 and i should be sending it for repair soon, ive had some issues with it and one of them was the fact that I accidentaly errased a couple of gb from my ssd on my windows partition, my mac is a 128gb model so I thought I might as well do a clean install before giving my system to tech support but now Im having problems reinstalling the os, the installation has failed twice so far and Im kinda panicking here. Ive reinstalled windows over 30 times in the past but this is my first time on mac and im not sure what to do, I thought about installing it from a bootable drive but I no longer have acces to mac os so idk how to create a bootable drive without the app store. Last error I got said that an error ocurred while loading the installer resources. Im sorry that im asking this way, but im genuenly panicking here, thanks. [link] [comments]

Clock won't update automatically? MacOS Big Sur Public Beta. Posted: 07 Sep 2020 10:45 PM PDT I've noticed my location services and my clock don't work on the Beta. Terminal command for silent trackpad Posted: 07 Sep 2020 10:32 PM PDT I've posted here before about the "Silent Clicking" feature of the trackpad not working. Until now, I've reinstalled (clean) MacOS for more than 10 times, each along with SCM and NVRAM reset, but still haven't solved the problem. I'm desperately finding a way to get around it. I found several posts about the chime sound can be turned off by using terminal command. So is there a command to disable the sound for trackpad? Anything would help, thanks a lot. Posted: 07 Sep 2020 12:41 PM PDT So my safari is in dark mode, every website I use that is available in dark mode is in it. The only one I can't put in dark mode is the google search engine. Is there a way to turn it in dark mode? I don't want any 3th party apps like chrome or an app that makes the engine dark mode. Just a way to make the page dark mode out of google itself (like in chrome). [link] [comments]

MacOS - Possible To Mount Cloud Drives Not Sync (Google Drive, DropBox, etc.) Posted: 07 Sep 2020 01:08 PM PDT Hello Everyone, I am looking to see if there is a free way to mount (not Sync!) some of my cloud drives on MacOS Catalina. Specifically Google Drive and Dropbox if possible. I see there are some paid applications out there (CloudMounter), but coming from a Linux background, I feel like there should be some open-source way to achieve the same thing in MacOS? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance to everyone for your time and help! [link] [comments]

Volume creates again when deleting. Posted: 07 Sep 2020 05:30 PM PDT When I'm trying to delete a volume on my MacBook Air, it simply deletes it and creates one with the same name again. I've had this issue for a long time now, does anyone have a solution for this? Thanks! [link] [comments]

Help playing old quicktime videos. Posted: 07 Sep 2020 07:33 AM PDT Hi everyone, unfortunately, I've had a death in my family and as such I have been trying to revive some old family videos. I believe the videos were created in 2005 on iMovie and could be played using Quicktime 7. I understand that this is no longer an option if running Catalina. I am able to watch the original media clips which make up the movie but not the edited movie. I came across this super helpful mac forum post (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/250492807), where a person was having the exact same issue as me. They successfully used MPEG streamclip to convert the file into something that could be played. Unfortunately this isn't an option in Catalina as the app has not been updated. I have tried VLC without success( error- Codec not supported VLC could not decode the format "dvau" (DV Audio)), I have tried IINA where the run time of the file is shown but can't be played. I've tried converting the file using FFmpeg and ff.works (conversion failed) but so far can't figure it out. The files are saved as shown here https://imgur.com/a/wiZQjYc and have the following info Format : QuickTime Format/Info : Original Apple specifications File size : 380 MiB Duration : 14 min 35 s Overall bit rate : 3 636 kb/s Encoded date : UTC 2005-08-17 10:45:09 Tagged date : UTC 2005-08-17 10:45:09 Writing library : Apple QuickTime. Any help in viewing this movie would be greatly appreciated. [link] [comments]
Posted: 07 Sep 2020 03:00 PM PDT Hello, I have a macbook pro late 2016 model running 10.12.6 at the moment, I haven't upgraded the operating system in a while as my last macbook pro (2012) seemed to struggle more and more with each update. I'm wondering if it is likely that performance will be the same/better/worse with the upgrade? [link] [comments]

What's eating my storage gradually until I restart? Posted: 07 Sep 2020 02:40 AM PDT So I'm on Catalina 10.15.4 on a 13" MacBook Pro (Late 2015) and I have a 128GB SSD. When I restart, my available disk space is around 13GB, I've been trying to keep it around there so I can update. But the longer my MacBook is on, the less storage I have. Eventually it gets down to like 1GB and I get the "Your disk is full" message. I've cleaned up folders, caches and the like with Daisy Disk but it keeps happening. If I want the space back, all I have to do is restart. Is it a memory cache? Is it iCloud? [link] [comments] |
