Posted: 25 Sep 2020 10:53 AM PDT So the necessary things that you need to know: Screen cracked, I got it replaced via 3rd party cuz from official Apple store would have made me broke. The red dot sensor (sorry I don't know the exact name) is working. Portrait mode isn't working either of selfie camera. Face ID starts the scan but cannot identify my face. Instead I get messages like "move iPhone higher/lower" etc. I do not get "Face ID is not available" message. Questions: What are my options? I heard updating to a newer ios version sometimes fixed face id. Is that true? Can FACE ID scanners even be replaced? I heard they are phone specific. Got a black ink spot from dropping the phone and it’s been growing steadily for the past 2 months. Posted: 25 Sep 2020 12:15 PM PDT So there i was jamming to The Weeknd in the shower and i bent over the sink to change the song and Bam, phone went to the side, dropped on it's right corner and left a black ink spot which since then is steadily growing. It's been 3+ months now and the spot has reached the top row of icons, covering the corner of the right most icon. Apart from feeling bad for the cosmetic damage, I don't really feel any functionality issues as iPhone has the life saving "swipe to drop down screen" function for the rare cases that i need to see the top right corner. I just want to know if any of you has experienced anything similar and how you managed it. I don't want to do a screen replacement on a 2+ year phone and neither can afford OEM parts. If i consider I'll mostly be going for a 3rd party replacement. ( which again has it's cons. I've been on this sub long enough to read all the horror stories of post 3rd party screen replacement ). Frozen back camera Posted: 25 Sep 2020 02:00 PM PDT The back camera on my iPhone is frozen and doesn't work on other apps like Instagram or Snapchat too. It occasionally works for a few seconds before freezing up. I can switch between different camera modes but the screen remains blank. The front camera works just fine, but takes time to open. When I try to use the back camera, a green dot on the right top corner keeps blinking (looks like a loading symbol). I haven't been able to find any solutions online.
