iOS 14 has destroyed my iphone Posted: 25 Sep 2020 08:26 PM PDT iOS 14 help me!! I might be being dramatic but I have the iPhone XS and Apple Watch series 3 and updated both to the newest updates. Since then on my iPhone I have experienced these issues:
I tried hard resetting, I tried unpairing and repairing my Apple Watch. Is anyone having similar issues? I'm getting very frustrated. [link] [comments] |

Switching AppleID for app store purchases Posted: 25 Sep 2020 05:06 PM PDT We've been iPhone users for longer than Family Sharing has been around. I used to have my wife's phone configured to use her AppleID for the phone, and MY AppleID for iTunes and App Store. That way she had access to all the apps I purchased. Obviously, this is no longer an issue, since Family Sharing is here. But now, it's 2020 and her phone is still set up this way. And it's an issue now, because we have an Apple Music family subscription. So, I want to set up her iTunes/App Store password to now be her AppleID. In theory, because Family Sharing exists, I would assume that everything should all just work and life will move on. But since the apps were installed using MY ID, I am concerned all sorts of stuff is going to break. Has anyone done this on one of their phones? How did it go? [link] [comments] |
iOS 14 Apple Watch not Pairing to iPhone Music Posted: 25 Sep 2020 06:40 PM PDT I just recently updated my iPhone SE 2 to iOS 14, which is paired to my Apple Watch 5th Gen. After updating both my watch and phone, I realized that when playing music on my phone, my watch won't give me the option of changing the volume or song. Along with that, it simply doesn't show that any song is playing on both the music app and the now playing app on my watch. Before I was able to go on my watch and start playing music off of my phone, now it will only give me the option to start playing music on connected bluetooth devices (and not my phone). I can't even look through my iPhones music library. Is this some sort of bug? [link] [comments] |

App settings keep getting lost Posted: 25 Sep 2020 09:04 PM PDT I have a 2012 MacBook Pro with latest MacOS before Big Sur, with a 1tb aftermarket SSD. Recently apps have started to lose settings. Calendar acts like it is being run for first time (though, calendars are all there) and all the unchecked ones are instead selected. aText and Bartender forget they have been registered. I'm sure there are other examples as well. I think this has happened twice this week at least. Not all apps are losing their registration though. What is causing this? How can i stop it? Mac Book accessories/additional monitor hookup/etc please Posted: 25 Sep 2020 08:52 PM PDT Hello all! I apologize if this isnt the right spot, but I've got a few questions I'm hoping to get some information on. I'll start by saying I do not know much of anything regarding apple products. Lol. So my wife has a Mac Book from 2012. She is currently doing online teaching to students only using the laptop. I have a vga monitor we are hoping we could hook up to help out with teaching. So this would be the start of my questions.
Thank you all so much for any information you may be able to provide! [link] [comments] |

Posted: 25 Sep 2020 07:42 PM PDT Anyone know of an easy(ish) and reliable way to move photos from one iPhone to a new iPhone? WITHOUT iCloud photos and without transferring data via backups. I have about 20k (photos + vids total) I know I could airdrop, but obviously that would be difficult. I would really just like to preserve the photos on my new device, which is why I don't really want to restore everything from my old phone. [link] [comments] |
My iPhone XR is possessed by the devil Posted: 25 Sep 2020 06:34 PM PDT It began when I dropped it full on the concrete a few days ago (Yes, very dumb, I know); fortunately, it was wearing a screen protector, or so I thought. However, a few days later it starts swiping towards and opening random apps, typing random letters, it's even come close to sending an email with random letters (think 'bbbbbb' 'mmmb', etc..) It's gotten to the point I can't even use this properly anymore, and this is incredibly distressing as unfortunately my phone is an incredibly important part of my life right now. Is there anything I can to resolve this quickly? [link] [comments] |
Time Machine backup over the internet? (short term) Posted: 25 Sep 2020 06:19 PM PDT My Dad has a Mac Mini and no real technical ability. I'm looking to use an external drive at my house to back up his machine using a time machine backup. It would be maybe 2-3 weeks tops. Is this possible? [link] [comments] |
Drop down when entering To field in Messages App Posted: 25 Sep 2020 06:13 PM PDT Hi, in the Messages App for Mac, I type "Mom" and it always shows my Mom's email address vs. her phone number. I always change to the phone number to send the text, but it never "learns" to show the phone number instead of the email address first. Other numbers show the phone number correctly. Is there a way to force the app to show the phone number first? [link] [comments] |
SSD not showing up in disk util or terminal Posted: 25 Sep 2020 06:04 PM PDT Hey y'all I'm trying to replace the current 250 gb Samsung SSD in my 2011 MacBook pro with a new 1Tb crucial ssd because the current one has failed. I have backed up my files with time machine, but I cannot get the ssd to show up anywhere to partition and clone. I've spent hours reading information but I cannot find anything to fix the issue. If anyone has anyone suggestions I would love to hear them. Thanks in advance [link] [comments] |

Any Mac users have experience with (awful) security suite known as Sentinnel One? Posted: 25 Sep 2020 05:59 PM PDT I just want to see if there are any Mac business users / BYOD users who have been forced to have this piece of crap installed on their systems. It is a performance hog, causing constant overheating and resource use. they seem like a legit company and may have a great Windows product but know little about how to write Mac software. I was helping a friend with their 2019 MBA today. She was required to have it installed because she does consulting work and her main client is making all employees / contractors with sensitive data have this installed. The company even claims to be Catalina friendly (MBA was on 10.15.6). Wondering if you know anything about this AV suite? If you do see them - run the other way. [link] [comments] |
Replacement AirPods die after a hour. Posted: 25 Sep 2020 05:59 PM PDT I had Apple AirPods replaced about a year ago after one stopped working. I never used the AirPods for long periods of time (30-45 mins) and now because of COVID I've had free time and have used them for longer periods of time and right of the bat I realized the AirPods died after 1 hour 30 mins of use. That's not at all the battery life it's supposed to have and I haven't realized until now since I've never used them for longer than 45 mins. My warranty is over and I don't know what to do. Which of these MacBook options is more powerful? Posted: 25 Sep 2020 05:45 PM PDT I have a choice at work between two laptops as my main laptop to use: Option 1: MBP 13inch 2019 2.4GHz QuadCore i5 8GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3 Option 2 MBP 15inch Mid 2015 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 16GB 1600 MHz DDR3 Putting aside the fact that the newer one is much lighter, and that the older one has all the ports and a big screen, I'd like to know which one, today, is a more powerful computer. Given the age of the 15inch, would it mean it's more likely to be slower, even with more RAM? I'm genuinely clueless when it comes to this, but I will be editing and animating so need to choose the more powerful one. So would appreciate any support. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Sep 2020 05:22 PM PDT Will updating my iPhone 8 to iOS 14 slow it down? I am excited about the new home screen but I want to make sure it won't slow down. Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Sep 2020 05:21 PM PDT So I keep my MacBook in a case with grids at the bottom. But this has unfortunately caused the grids to imprint on the back of the laptop. I've tried to wipe it but the gridlines remain. Any suggestions? [link] [comments] |
Anyone else having problems with activity data syncing, iOS 14.0.1 and Watch OS 7.0.1 Posted: 25 Sep 2020 01:19 PM PDT For details, this was working before the update. I've restored my phone twice and un-paired my watch twice after various combinations of disabling wifi, bluetooth, and handoff then rebooting each device and turning everything back on again. Long sentence, I know. There is something broken with data sync between these devices now. Have you had this issue? The frustrating part is only some data doesn't sync. For instance, one out of four workouts won't get uploaded, and so it gets lost. [link] [comments] |
