Posted: 26 Sep 2020 01:41 PM PDT Seeing as this is the third major update, and knowing Apple's history with iOS updates and battery life, I was just wondering what's the iPhone X's battery life on iOS 14. Especially compared to previous iOS versions. If you can, share a screenshot of the past 10 days section. That would be helpful. PD: This is a little long, read if you're interested: I am going to elaborate a little on "Apple's history with iOS updates". As everyone knows, regardless of battery health, battery life tends to be impacted by iOS updates, on every single device so far. Historically speaking, the first major update does close to nothing, maintaining the original version's battery life. The second update affects it, people start to notice it, and it tends to be severe enough to make a dent (maybe 20-30%? More or less?). The third update tends to be pretty terrible, drastically affecting battery life (again, regardless of battery health), and causing devices to not last the day whereas earlier they would do so, and comfortably. For the sake of clarity, Apple forced my 9.7 iPad Pro out of iOS 9 to iOS 12 last year (forced, you say? How? Well, the iPad basically restarted on its own and deactivated. Kind of like the activation lock but not quite, because it wouldn't ask for an Apple ID. After trying to reactivate it, it would display a message basically saying "update to continue". It was a widespread issue with the iOS 9 activation servers, look it up if interested) and that resulted in my iPad going from a pretty decent 12-13 hours of battery life with light use, to barely scraping 9-11 with light use. From one day to the other, a 20-30% drop. This is why I ask, the third update tends to be critical. [link] [comments] | ||
