What iPhones should I get my twins?

    Posted: 27 Aug 2020 02:02 PM PDT

English is not my first language so I apologize for grammar. So I have twins (13, M and F). Their current phones are pretty old (they both have the iPhone 7 32GB, but they got it 2018). Now me and my husband have saved up enough cash (around $1300) to buy them new phones because they are excellent children both academically and at home. Now what phones should I get my kids? I want to surprise them by next week. The only thing they said they want are the ones with facial recognition (which I only know the X has so I posted here), and that 64 GB is enough for them. Their absolute favorite colors are blue for the boy, and yellow for the girl if that helps. What phones should I get them that also fits our budget? Should I get them the iPhone X or another iPhone that I don't know about (comment it below)?

Edit : I use the iPhone X and my husband uses the iPhone 8 Plus

    XS screen replacement

    Posted: 27 Aug 2020 02:23 AM PDT

I naively thought that I had a protection on my screen of my iPhone XS but it had been a while since it was no longer in place ...

A short time ago I dropped it, followed a green line (which is now white) running the length of the screen.

After a few clicks on the net I only see one solution: to have it replaced .... I can use it in the meantime but with a big white line on the screen it's not great at all.

After a call, a visit to a repairman and researching the net I am confused.

A former apple technician told me that it was better to go to apple because the non-apple replacements are according to him of very poor quality, but now the iPhone XS is not worth enough for resale to allow a new original apple screen .

Then, I did a lot of research, the prices vary greatly so I ask myself questions: where should I have a new screen installed and at what price?

The cheapest price I found is € 160 (and he claims it's an OLED screen!) But I'm wondering about the quality obviously, I also found some for € 210.

There is also the possibility of replacing it with an OLED or LCD screen (OLED is of course preferable).

There is also the Ifixit site which offers to do the replacement yourself with their equipment and their tutorial.

    Ideas? advice?

    Thank you.
