[request] speed limit on carplay without destination

    Posted: 11 Jun 2020 02:50 PM PDT

Unless you have your destination loaded into maps, carplay will not display the speed limit of the road you are on. Could someone make it always appear (where it is available) without inputting the destination?

[Discussion] Balancing processor throttling for better performance and battery life on an iPhone

    Posted: 11 Jun 2020 02:52 PM PDT

It appears that Apple's processor setup is similar to Ryzen. If one undervolts, or in the case of IOS throttles the CPU and GPU via the PackageLowPowerTarget (PLPT) setting found under powersaveparams in the thermal monitor bundle, one observes a boost in performance for Geekbench 5 benchmarks.

Interestingly the cost to battery life is observed despite the fact that the CPU is throttled.

First the performance. It seems if one goes lower on the PLPT, Geekbench CPU benchmark performance improve each step. In an iPhone XR (13.5) the default target setting is 3000. Testing with 2800, 2600, 2400, 2200, 2000, 1700, and 1500, Geekbench scores when compared to default start going up from 2800. They reach the peak at 2000 with CPU single core score at 1115 and multi core score at 2763. The variance with default numbers is +7 for single core and +189 for multi-core on the benchmark. However there appears to be a battery penalty from 2800 till 2200; although surprisingly not in the 2000 value as indicated via BeGreen13 discharge rates.

The theory could be that the throttling of the PLPT promotes more boosting behaviour (thus my Ryzen analogy in dealing with multi cores) which improves performance but causes battery loss. The 2000 score cpu and battery performance is the outlier.

To test the reverse, the PLPT was raised to 3200 from 3000. While the benchmark scores were lower a tiny bit when compared to default, the battery drain was relatively less.

This is not an experiment one should replicate if one does not know their way around the iPhone's internal settings or to safely back things up in case things go wrong.

It is just the start of a discussion which could lead to interesting consequences considering the wealth of settings found in the thermalbundle for experts in the group who know these intimately.

There's always Powercuff or CPUTool for those who should not tread in this unknown jungle of forbidden fruits. But they did inspire me to take a little closer look at this walled garden of Eden.

[Tutorial] Use this shortcut to install Installer if your Cydia crashes and you don’t have Filza

    Posted: 11 Jun 2020 02:05 PM PDT

Hi! I convinced my friend to jailbreak yesterday and he's been telling me non-stop he doesn't know how he was living without jailbreak till now and he's loving it! One mistake from my part was that I forgot to tell him to install Filza/Terminal and today his Cydia started crashing. I found a shortcut to delete Cydia's metadata file but weirdly it didn't work for him. So I wrote a shortcut to install Installer. I thought I'd share it 'cause it might help some people possibly facing this problem.

Close Cydia from app switcher before running the shortcut.

    Shortcut Link

The Script might take some time to run so be patient.

Just in case: If you have changed the default root password you'll have to edit the password in the shortcut's settings.

[Request] Replace the 'Arcade' tab in the App Store with the old 'Updates' tab in iOS 13

    Posted: 11 Jun 2020 08:17 AM PDT

Apple buried updates behind several tabs and/or haptic touching the App Store icon in favor of trying to push their new 'Arcade'. I never play games on my phone so that tab is completely worthless to me. Would be nice to get the updates tab back if possible.

[Free Release] AirPods 1/2 Preset for EQE

    Posted: 11 Jun 2020 09:54 PM PDT

Alright, so a while back I made this post about a preset for [[EQE]] for AirPods Pro's. After looking at some comments and others from other preset posts, there's always someone who asks for presets for AirPods 1/2... so I got a hold of a friends pair and made an eq for them.

I toned down the bass just a bit and then bumped up the mids and high highs a good amount to get rid of the muffled hazy sound. This preset was made while listening to alternative/R&B music with plenty of bass in some (The Weekend, Glass Animals, Tame Impala). Over all just tuned it to what sounded good to me and what my Dt 990 pro's sound like.

Here is the file (Note: it's tuned for BOTH AirPods 1 AND 2, they have the same drivers)

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Z83OqsnOTQTGlabCLqlOYzlVvDDATiOf/view?usp=drivesdk

How to add it to EQE:

    Video: https://imgur.com/gallery/fj3sc32

To add the preset, download it, then open the files app and share it with [[Filza File Manager]], then copy it in Filza and navigate to the presets folder under /Library/Application Support/com.r333d.eqe/db/ and paste it there... and that's it! Just go into EQE and select it!

Hope you enjoy, I think they sounds loads better than before, but feel free to change it to your liking!

[Tutorial] Quickly Change your Youtube Splash Screen to Dark Mode.

    Posted: 11 Jun 2020 03:51 PM PDT

Make your Youtube app splash screen look like this I saw this requested many times before, And there's a kinda slow way to do it, so that's why i made this tutorial. * First of all you should Install OpenSSH Tweak, it's in Bingner source, so it should be added by default to your Sources. * Enable it in your Control Centre Settings * Head over to the tweak settings * Enable the first 3 actions in the tweak settings * Your port should be 22 On Unc0ver or any other jailbreak that's not Checkra1n * For Checkra1n Users Use 44 port. * If both of these ports didn't work for u, use 3333 port. * Enable SSH Toggle from your Control Centre Now * Install this shortcut to enable it.
