How can I clean my screen without damaging it? Posted: 11 Jun 2020 11:27 PM PDT If I try to clean it with anything, it lefts some weird stamps on it, what can I do? [link] [comments]
Posted: 11 Jun 2020 11:40 PM PDT This macbook is 5yrs old so the battery is probably old but aside from the problems mentioned, it runs perfectly fine so I'm not really trying to spend money on a new one Anybody have any quick fixes? [link] [comments]

Getting better performance on games? Posted: 11 Jun 2020 07:22 PM PDT Just wondering if there were any easier ways to get better performance on MacBook rather than spending £300 on an egpu. I already have windows installed for games. [link] [comments]
Posted: 11 Jun 2020 03:31 PM PDT So I am planning to drop my Macbook off at an authorized repair replace and wanted to get your opinion on what I need to do before I drop it off. So can I disable my password so he can get access without needing it or should I just give him my password then change it afterwards? Thanks [link] [comments]

Posted: 11 Jun 2020 06:50 PM PDT Hi! I bought a 13" MacBook Pro for my younger sister around this time last year, but sadly she passed away unexpectedly shortly after I gave it to her. I've been procastinating with this for way too long because of many reasons, at first I wasn't going to sell it since it was hers, but no matter what decision I come to it is wrong in some way. It makes me super sad thinking about it, but I'm just going to try to get it over with and move on. The price I bought it for was ~$3015 after tax. The specs and specifications are; - 2,4 GHz quad-core intel i5 (with Turbo Boost up to 4,1 GHz?) - Retina display with True Tone - Touch Bar and Touch ID - Intel Iris Plus Graphics 655 - 16 GB 2133 MHz lpddr3-memory - 512 GB ssd-storage - Four Thunderbolt 3-ports - Backlit keyboard - Accessories It has been used a maximum of a hundred hours. I really have no clue what to sell it for but I'd be super thankful for any help or guidance with this. Thank you! [link] [comments]
Posted: 11 Jun 2020 06:28 PM PDT And if we want to keep cycle count low because apparently that is better for the battery, do we just leave our computer on sleep when we are not using it? [link] [comments]
MacBook Education Discount or Employee 15% Posted: 11 Jun 2020 06:08 PM PDT Hey guys! I'm on the market for a new MacBook Air with the 512GB SSD i5 with 16GB RAM. I was originally contemplating grabbing it with the current education discount which is $1379. The original price is $1500. I was offered an employee discount of 15% off the original price (non Education) which brings the price down to $1275. This brings me to this question: should I grab the MacBook Air now with the employee discount? Or should I wait until Back-to-School season and see if I can save a bit more? Any insight is appreciated! [link] [comments]
Posted: 11 Jun 2020 06:08 PM PDT I've been playing Mario Kart on my Macbook using the Dolphin emulator. It's fun, but I would prefer a game / emulator that lets me use a Bluetooth game pad. Any recommendations for racing games on the Mac that can use a controller, USB or Bluetooth, either native Mac or with an emulator? [link] [comments]
Posted: 11 Jun 2020 04:27 PM PDT The MacBook screens seem to be getting a lot of fingerprints and they are extremely difficult to remove, I can't get them off with just my t-shirt. Would a tempered glass screen protector for the macbook pro help prevent staingate or would it just make it more likely to occur. This is the screen protector I was thinking: https://www.amazon.com/Spigen-Tempered-Protector-Designed-MacBook/dp/B07V9P9CF2/ref=sr_1_7?dchild=1&keywords=MacBook+Pro+13%22+screen+protector&qid=1591917898&sr=8-7 Or this one since it is a lot cheaper, but not tempered glass: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N68HI9S/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=MacBook+Pro+13%22+screen+protector&qid=1591917898&sr=8-5 Would this make it more likely to develop staingate or protect against it? Apple MacBook Pro 2016+ with Touchbar 15” Flexgate/Stage Light lawsuit Posted: 11 Jun 2020 04:13 PM PDT Hello! I'm posting here to make light of the flexgate and stage light issues on the 15" 2016+ MacBook Pro's. I found an article with a lawsuit(again) but this one actually includes the 15" Pros! I've called the Parris Law Firm to confirm the information and have decided to be apart of it. It does not cost either. They asked questions like when did the problem start, did I buy the item new, did I purchase apple care, the amount Apple wants to fix it, OR have I fixed it. They are trying to help find a solution and fix similar to the 13" and also recuperating the loses of people who paid almost 1k to fix it. For the people that don't know, this problem was fixed in the 2018+ models. They added a longer cord so it's less stress with opening it. Apple care has now needed on the 2016 models and will be ending for the 2017 models this year- the only fix is a $795 repair and a 90 day warranty after that on a laptop that is VERY expensive. I've attached the link to the lawsuit and they've gotten people from about 10 states and want more people to speak up. Please speak up if this has happened to you. I know everyone's situation is different especially financially but these products are premium and very expensive. Just like they fixed the keyboard, they need to fix this screen. Especially if they addressed it In the 13" and they use the same connector. [link] [comments]

Macbook Air 2012 battery service / replacement Posted: 11 Jun 2020 09:11 AM PDT Hi all, Has anyone gotten battery service or replacement for macbook air? How long would it normally take? I need my computer on a fairly daily basis, and works fine besides a poor battery (but it is a 2012 model!). Wondering if it is something they could do in a day if I brought it in, or if it would take longer? Thanks! [link] [comments]

Computer refuses to start up after bootcamp Posted: 11 Jun 2020 01:12 PM PDT Last night I set up a Bootcamp partition and used it most of the night. When I went to sleep I just closed the lid on the laptop. Woke up this morning and opened it back up and it was booting back up into windows even though I never shut off the computer. I held the power button so I could restart into MacOS but after the computer shut off I haven't been able to turn it back on. Spoke to Apple support, tried a few key combinations including resetting SMC and holding for ten seconds and then pressing. Have had it plugged into power for hours now and nothing at all. It's a 2016 MBP on Catalina. I made an appt at my local Apple store but it's a week from now and I need my computer so if you're willing to offer some solutions I'd be so grateful. Computer shows NO signs of power Thanks. [link] [comments]
Posted: 11 Jun 2020 12:48 PM PDT I've got a core 2 duo late 2007 black MacBook that I want to upgrade the hard drive in. I just use it for music making, image editing, and listening to iTunes with. I don't use it for any web browsing and leave the WiFi off. I've got a time machine backup on an external hard drive and I have a copy of snow leopard. Do I simply need to remove the old drive, insert the new one and then power on and put the disc of snow leopard in? And once that's in just backup from time machine on the external drive? Will that take me back to 10.6.8 Are there any specific key commands I need to do on start-up etc, or anything else I should know? Any pointers would be much appreciated, I'm a bit unsure of the whole thing. Also, are there any specific requirements for the SSD (I haven't purchased it yet)? Oh, I only use it plugged in as it doesn't have a battery, the slot is empty. [link] [comments]
Posted: 11 Jun 2020 12:34 PM PDT Would love to get more integrated within the ecosystem, Laptop is the next step imo. I would love to get a MBP; however, I want to actually USE the laptop if I were to purchase one. not just a Netflix/Reddit/Youtube machine. Thats my iPad after school already... I want a new hobby/thing I can get into on the side as well. So I was wondering what does everyone use their powerful MBP for to justify getting that much computer? [link] [comments]
Can someone who has the knowledge and effort make a new "Which Macbook" Masterpost Posted: 11 Jun 2020 11:33 AM PDT Literally every second post on the subreddit is "which macbook should I buy" and honestly? Just look at the specs and buy the one you want, or search your question, because I guarantee 100 people have asked it before. [link] [comments]

Will the 2020 MBP be ok for me? Posted: 11 Jun 2020 10:19 AM PDT Hi so I'm thinking of getting the base model 2020 MBP (i5,8gb dam, 265gb SSD) and I was thinking of getting a WD passport with 1TB of storage do you think this will be fine for a 3 year (biology based) degree where I'll mostly be using Microsoft office programmes, Netflix, YouTube, sims 4 and Minecraft? I was thinking of getting the 2020 MBA with more storage but I've heard the cooling system is really bad. [link] [comments]
