AirPods losing signal?

Have any of you had this problem? My AirPods are working fine if I'm listening to something, but if I'm on the phone why keep losing Bluetooth signal. It is not their batteries. It happen every couple minutes if I'm talking on the phone. They are first generation AirPods so they are about 2 years old, but I really don't want to buy new ones if I can help it. Apple support basically recommend that I replace them with pros.... However, they said it could be beta related? Anyone having this problem?

Background Refresh Not Working?

Ever since updating to iOS 13 it seems background app refresh doesn't actually work. Emails don't show until I pull down in the app, podcasts don't download each day like they used to. Has anyone else seen this? I'm on 13.6 now, and it's done this since 13.0.

Basically if I am in another app and I receive a FaceTime call it will show my camera and then freeze. Has anyone else run into this? A reboot does generally fix it for a bit
