Posted: 05 Jun 2020 01:03 AM PDT I don't know if this is the right place to post this, but my lil cousin was being dumb and he downloaded some file from filehorse and now there have been a lot of changes in my browser (safari). It looks the same, but with very few changes. I think it's because of the file 'installer' with an MS word icon. I cannot seem to quit that or uninstall that. Someone please help me. 2020 MBA Struggles to AirPlay second display... Would MBP work better, or unrelated? Posted: 05 Jun 2020 12:17 AM PDT Appreciate any help to figure out if this is a problem related to the performance of my MBA, or an entirely different issue. I have a brand new, completely base 2020 MBA (i3). Also have an Apple TV 4K hooked up to a cheap brand 55" LED TV. Today I used the MBA to turn on AirPlay and use the TV as an extended monitor. I wanted to put a Zoom video call up on the TV, and use the MBP to take notes. Well, the extended monitor idea was brutal. Dragging the Zoom call over there completely choked it up. The mouse was struggling to move while I was on the external display, too laggy to even fiddle with making the Zoom call window bigger, no chance of getting it to run Full Screen. When I returned the mouse to my primary laptop display, it worked fine (no lagging) - so the lag was only on the AirPlay side of things. Gave up and turned it off. (Side note: When I set the AirPlay to mirroring mode, it works quite smoothly on the TV display, so it seems to be limited to the external monitor issue) Now I am unsure if this is related to my MBA not being powerful enough , or if its just a problem with my Apple TV, or AirPlay technology itself ---Would switching to a base model 2020 MBP solve? I am still within the return window... ---If its my MBA that's likely the issue -- then is it a RAM or a video card issue? The other problem I experience with my MBA is infinite-scrolling through Reddit pages with lots of in-browser videos (like r/instantkarma)... It struggles to keep up...but I would still consider this basic web-browsing, which a brand new computer should be able to do! Should I consider a MBP (or a higher-spec MBA)? [link] [comments]
Which MacBook? 2020 MBA i5 or 2020 MBP i5 (8th gen)? Posted: 04 Jun 2020 08:03 PM PDT As per the title! Trying to decide between the two. Is the 8th gen U series i5 better than a 10th gen y series i5? Would you guys say the better screen in the MBP is worth it? Thoughts on the touchbar? Thanks for the help! [link] [comments]
Recommendations for a backpack that fits MacBook Pro 16” and with space for books/notebooks Posted: 04 Jun 2020 05:58 PM PDT Just bought a MacBook Pro 16" and need a backpack to carry it and notebooks/books. Do you have any recommendations? I need something sturdy with padding and whatnot. This laptop cost me a lot and want to make sure it's properly protected as I carry it around. Any thoughts on what I should get? [link] [comments]

Can I replace A1278 Lcd with A1502? Posted: 04 Jun 2020 09:16 PM PDT Hey, it's a sad day for me as my MacBook Pro Early 2015 got slipped from my hand and got some cracks on LCD which is making it unable to use. I searched on OLX for some dead similar MacBook. Ended up with a guy selling LCD but it was extracted from Macbook 2012, same screen size 13". The only difference is modal. He got A1278 but what I have is A1502. So my question is can it be used with my MacBook? Should I purchase it or not. Please share your thoughts if you ever experienced the same thing. Thanks a lot. Have a nice day! [link] [comments]

Difficulty Picking Between 2013 MBP 13" Retina vs 2012 MBP 15" MBP Posted: 04 Jun 2020 12:00 PM PDT I'm picking out an older model for light music production and I'm between two options at the moment with a 2013 13" Retina and a 2012 15" Retina. For one, the specs on the 2012 are phenomenal compared to the 2013 with an i7 while the 2013 has an i5, but one of the main things I'm looking for in a laptop is portability. That is what is making my decision so difficult at the moment. I guess you can say that I favor the 2013 13" and I'm asking this community whether I would be missing much if I opted out for the 13" Retina instead of the 2012 15". What are your opinions? Imagine that they are the same price. I'm paying about the same for worse performance and smaller everything, I'm fully aware of that, but how much worse is it than the 2012 15"? Specs: 2012 - i7 - 3615QM 500 SSD Apparently has a "new battery" 2013 - i5 - 4258U 256 SSD Holds a 4.5 hour charge Has box ‼️‼️ [link] [comments]

Posted: 04 Jun 2020 05:04 PM PDT Goodnight everyone. I was deleting the files from the macbook trash, and there is a file (class: "unix executable") called launchd in the trash which is not removed in any way. I don't know if it is a virus or malware. Does someone have any idea of what it can be? If it is any malware, and how can you remove it? Thank you!! [link] [comments]

Posted: 04 Jun 2020 02:35 PM PDT So, I just got my new MacBook Pro 16" 2019! Yay! I have a LG 27UD88-W screen, and it has been working perfectly with my old MacBook Pro 13" (Late 2016). The LG 27UD88-W works as a screen and a charger through one single USB-C that I connect to my MacBook. When I plugged my new MacBook Pro 16" to the screen, it won't charge. It says it's charging, but it's stuck on the same percentage. I guess the charger isn't strong enough to power my new MacBook Pro? So the question is; can I plug my standard USB-C charger to the MacBook while it's connected to the screen? My guess is yes, and I absolutely hope it will work, because I hope I don't need to unplug my MacBook from the screen every time I need to charge it. I just want to make sure that this is safe so that I don't ruin my new baby. I was thinking it perhaps could damage the MacBook because it's charging from two different ports? Perhaps it's possible to turn off the charging function on my LG screen? I've tried to find this option in the settings, but I can't find anything. [link] [comments]

Posted: 04 Jun 2020 05:32 AM PDT So I purchased my 13" macbook air in December 2015 and I'd say around August of the next year it became a bit slow. It has been the same speed for around 4 years now. I think it might be malware or something? Sometimes I watch movies on putlocker and popups come and disappear on their own, or stuff downloads on its own. I usually delete them immediately and delete from the trash can too. What should I do to restore my macbook speed to how it originally was? Do I save my data on a USB then factory reset? Thoughts on picking up a 13” 2010 Macbook in 2020? Posted: 04 Jun 2020 06:20 AM PDT I'm not gonna do much on the laptop, the heaviest activity being light video editing. The laptop will have 128GB SSD and 4GB RAM. For the same price i could get an iPad Air but i prefer MacOS to iOS. Does anyone have experience with using the 2010 Macbook with similar specs recently? 2020 MBA (i3) vs 2020 MBP (i5 10th gen) Fan Noise Results Posted: 04 Jun 2020 05:55 AM PDT Since I had the ability to test both a 2020 MacBook Air base model vs the MacBook Pro i5 10th gen model ($1799) I figured I would post my findings. I used the app SPLnFFT in dB(A) mode and tested both individually as to not disrupt the rooms ambient noise level. I placed my phone flat on the same desk as the laptop where the top of the phone was pressed against the chassis in front of the trackpad. This allowed the speakers to face towards/closer to the user simulating what someone could hear while seated near the laptop. Both setups were completely identical software wise with only Intel Power Gadget running so I fired up Cinebench R20 and let it rip. Both laptops took awhile to reach their highest decibel level which was towards the end of the test but the MBA took a really long time to finish so the noise level lasted longer and after the run it sustained higher decibels for roughly a minute until cooled where the MBP took a few seconds before the fans realized what was going on. Both processors sustained 99°C temps as expected but never exceeded. Results: - Ambient Room Noise (34.7db) - Room temp (75F) - MBA (45.4db) - MBP (50.1db) Both db ranges fall into the quiet category but may creep into the comfortable range for a brief second. So there you go, an i3 MBA with one fan vs an i5 with dual fans and I'm pleasantly surprised by both results. Now depending on how you measure the db your results may vary but because this was a controlled environment if you stay consistent with your methods there shouldn't be much of a variance such as I observed.
