Fried iphone xs due to water?

    Posted: 04 Jun 2020 11:01 PM PDT

Yesterday i came home and wanted to clean my iphone xs, i used some alcohol on the screen and case, which I guess could've entered the charging ports and other holes. I also rinsed it under water for around 10 secs.

After this the phone died due to battery, and because I didn't realize charging with wet ports was bad i plugged it in, and it started charging because it was dead. I also charged it over night and now it wont start, i tried charging it and restarting it until i realized that could make it worse. What has likely happened and is there any fix? The phone is now resting in a dry towel.

    iPhone 6s iMessage issues

    Posted: 05 Jun 2020 12:28 AM PDT

So I got a second hand iPhone 6 yesterday and put all my photos and apps etc on it and I sent a message to a friend and he says it showed up as my icloud email, not my contact/number. I tried going to iMessage to remove my email from it and whenever I try to re-enable iMessage, it says "Activation unsuccessful. Turn on iMessage to try again."

I tried enabling it and signing in with my apple id, then I tried to change from my email to my number in the "Send and receive" section but whenever I tap on my phone number, it greys out instead of selecting it.

How can I make iMessage work with my number instead of my email? I need to send messages for work so some help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

Broke my iPhone XS, bought iPhone 11, and I’m having problems setting it up

    Posted: 04 Jun 2020 08:10 PM PDT

My old phone (iPhone XS) is water damaged and stuck in a bootloop. I've tried basically everything to get it to turn on, including restoring it, but nothing has worked. I accepted defeat and purchased a new phone with Verizon, however I am having troubles setting up my phone because my old one can not turn on. I get to the Apple ID log in but I have two factor verification on. because my old phone won't turn on, I can not receive text messages to it to go through with the process. I started the account recovery for my Apple ID, waited 24 hours and now it's saying it will take 5 days. I'm not really sure what to do or how I can activate my phone line onto this new phone with the old phone being a goner. Surely they must have something in place for when people lose their phones and have to set up a new one without having the old one? Getting very frustrated as this has been an issue since Tuesday.

Any and all advice would be appreciated. Thanks, guys.

iPhone privacy settings you should not ignore

    Posted: 04 Jun 2020 10:39 PM PDT

I've been looking for some kind of article or guide or anything about how to make my phone more privacy-friendly and I finally came across a blog post of a vpn I use and it is quite in-depth, I thought I'd share it with someone. If you ever wondered about things like this here it is. If not well then just ignore this

Importing all my photos to Windows used to be so Easy! Help!

    Posted: 04 Jun 2020 03:57 PM PDT

I used to be able to plug my iPhoneX into my windows laptop with the lightening cable. Then go into the folder and copy and paste my photos and videos to a folder on my Windows laptop. Why can I no longer do this? How do I manually keep my cherished memories without relying on a cloud? I am too young to be this confused and overwhelmed by unnecessary tech changes.

Have I been hacked? Odd occurrences in Messenger. I’m running iOS 13.3 on an iPhone8.

    Posted: 04 Jun 2020 09:23 PM PDT

The other day I was composing a lengthy text within the Messaging app and I noticed that the banner where it displays the recipients name flashes. It happens maybe twice. Today, same thing. Turns out the original two messages I sent were never received. I'm not sure what happened. Says sent on my end. The recipient uses Google Voice to receive my messages. I believe it is on an iPhone as well but can't verify.

Is this I sign that I have been hacked or is it some other glitch? I took it for a glitch initially but that the other person didn't receive the has me wondering. I even checked if maybe the contact's number was changed by a hacker. Any insight is appreciated.

    iPhone XS Max

    Posted: 04 Jun 2020 06:53 PM PDT

So my gf's iPhone XS Max with 65 gigs phone was a replacement phone from about a year ago. From Apple care program. Well today she woke up. Tried to call her mom and it wouldn't let her call her. She tried again and a few times. Then the phone turned off and now it's stuck at the Apple logo boot up screen. I tried soft reset and did the restore update and it fail. She doesn't wanna do a full restore as it will make her lose all the photos she has in it.

Does anyone know a way to save the files? Or like fix the phone without losing the stuff on it. The phone isn't damage in a way. I think it's some code failure of the operating system.

    Thanks.

Can I see WiFi passwords that were previously saved?

    Posted: 04 Jun 2020 12:31 PM PDT

I was trying to connect to parents WiFi on my laptop but they lost the paper where they wrote down the password (they're old and don't know a lot about technology). I'm connected to their WiFi on my phone and was wondering if there's a way I can see the password on my phone? I looked it up and it gives me directions to turn on keychain and look at the password on a Mac, and I don't have one. Any other way?

iPhone Screen is Unresponsive. Tried everything. Still no luck.

    Posted: 04 Jun 2020 01:42 PM PDT

So as the title says, two days ago, my iPhone XS screen just froze and wouldn't respond to any touch. So I force restarted a couple of times, no luck. So I connected the device to iTunes PC, and tried restore through iTunes, didn't work. Then I tried DFU recovery to fix the problem. Still no luck. Finally I download the 13.5 ipsw file and tried to revert to previous version through DFU recovery using ipsw file in iTunes. But still the screen wouldn't respond. It just stays in the "Hello" screen.

Is there anything I can try to fix this problem by myself ?

P.S. There's no physical damage on the phone. I bought it February of 2019. Sadly there's no apple store in my country so that's not an option.

Iphone 7 "cellular update failed" bug - 2 different phones?

    Posted: 04 Jun 2020 04:28 PM PDT

    Hi There, post addresses:

-Iphone 7, 128gig, running IOS 13.5 (up to date)

    - purchased 1 week ago via Amazon in the U.S.

First I should address I am aware of the bug causing the "cellular update failed" on some iPhone 7's specifically. Makes the phone think it has no service etc. I know you can (or could?) return to Apple for a fix.

My original iPhone 7 (which I had for many years) NEVER had this problem. I just had dropped it, broken the camera, drained the battery, etc and it was time to replace. I'm broke AF at the moment and wanted to go for a cheaper refurb option. So I got the same iPhone 7 with the same specs but refurbished from BestBuy. One day in had this problem. Returned it - bought another one from Amazon. Again, it had this problem but except this time on and off sometimes for days at a time.

THE QUESTION IS: is there any world where two separate model# iPhone 7's have this issue - or could this be a problem with my AT&T account or my sim card (the only common denominator between the 3 phones). I know a refurb is a sketchy option but I just don't want to spend the cash on a new phone - especially if this can be fixed. Again, the original iPhone7 with the same sim card NEVER had this problem.

    Thoughts? Thanks!

Pics on broken iPhone, need some assistance

    Posted: 04 Jun 2020 04:18 PM PDT

I have a broken iPhone 5, and there are still pics on it I am unable to retrieve.

The screen is broken, so I can't see if it turns on or whatever.

Does anyone know how I can retrieve them directly without paid programs or icloud and itunes backups?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Is this possible?

    Posted: 04 Jun 2020 03:17 PM PDT

Hey guys! I have an app on my iphone 7 that came available for a short amount of time, it's an app that can cache you tube vids and songs/play vids in the backround etc.. It's like an 'itube' app.. its amazing.. but not available anymore AS you can imagine. I think i downloaded it in 2017.

Basically i cached THOUSANDS of videos on there, made LOTS of playlists of helpful videos for my studies/research/life/ business etc which i love reflecting back on when need be. It's like my pocket dictionary so it's basically REALLY important that i keep all the content on there in the format that it's all in.

Now my iphone 7 is currently facing possible software issues and apple have told me i need to a hard reset of the phone and this will mean i will lose this app and there is no way to download it again..

Now for the tech gurus, Is there anyway i can get the contents on that app and the app itself OFF my iphone 7 and onto my laptop or something? Or a way to save and be able to retrieve the app and it's content in the same way i left it after hard resetting my phone?

Move pictures from iphone to mac with usb cable.

    Posted: 04 Jun 2020 10:27 AM PDT

    I have an iPhone 7.

I'm trying to move ALL my pictures in my photo library to iPhotos on my Mac over USB.

I clicked "import" but some pictures/albums are missing.

Why isn't everything being imported? How can I fix this?

    – I can't use iCloud because I have no Wi-Fi and it would take too long over cellular network (thousands of images).

    Posted: 04 Jun 2020 09:53 AM PDT

Just as the title says every time I delete a voicemail my recent calls list is blank or froze. This requires me to restart my phone every time I delete a voicemail. Is there a fix for this? Couldn't find anything on google. Thanks in advanced

Missed call banners don’t go away?

    Posted: 04 Jun 2020 09:04 AM PDT

Anyone noticed an issue where the missed call banner doesn't disappear from the active screen since iOS 13.5.1? I'm surfing via Safari or using WhatsApp for example and a missed call banner on the top of the screen just stays there indefinitely.

    Data Recovery

    Posted: 04 Jun 2020 07:04 AM PDT

So my phone completely crashed yesterday and apple support said my only option was to factory reset the phone via itunes. I have done this and lost everything because I didn't have it backed up, and it wouldn't back up while it was broken. I have 3 years worth of text messages from my boyfriend who passed away last year that I would really like to get back. I've tried a couple of third party apps with no luck but hoping someone on here has used one that's worked. Any help would be much appreciated, thank you!

    Invisible Data?

    Posted: 04 Jun 2020 02:09 AM PDT

    Hey!

    (iPhone 6s)

So recently I deleted about 5000 photos from my camera roll. I tried to delete them from my recently deleted folder but it didn't work.

After that I decided to update to IOS13 and I saw that the 5000 photos had disappeared from my recently deleted folder. However when I checked I saw that the storage stayed the same, so I think that I have around 10gb of photos stored somewhere but I just don't know how to delete them...

When I connect my iPhone to iTunes it does show me that I have 10gb of free storage, but it then quickly changes to show me that I have no free storage left...

Would really appreciate if someone could help me with this matter!

    Thanks in advance!

    "New" iPhone X Won't Activate

    Posted: 04 Jun 2020 01:03 AM PDT

My brother gave me his old iPhone today as a graduation present. It's an iPhone X, and the one I currently use is an iPhone 7. I've been trying all night to set up and activate the new phone, but it won't work. I connected it to my computer, but it kept telling me to connect to a computer even though I already was, or it would say that I am indeed connected to a computer, but do nothing else.

Many, many times it had me enter in my Apple ID and password, load for a bit, and not do anything. On my computer, in the iTunes app, I located the device on there because it was plugged into the computer, and it also kept having me enter in my Apple ID login info over and over again. I would type my password, it would load, and then take me right back to the login screen. A couple times, it's said that an unexpected response or something like that occurred in the device, but I didn't do anything on it.

What's super weird to me is that my iCloud info, everything from my old phone, etc is on the new phone, but only when the SIM card isn't in. When I put the SIM card in, it stays on a screen that says "update is complete." When I click on continue, it tells me to connect to a computer when I'm already connected, or just that I'm connected but nothing else. I have absolutely no idea what to do. It has my background, apps, old texts, contacts, photos, etc. but only when the SIM card isn't in it. I have no idea what to do, and I don't even really know how to describe this issue. Sorry if this doesn't make any sense. Thank you for your help though!
