    Why does a rainbow color rotating circular shape show up on Macbook pro everytime i select a considerable amount of data(Photos). I used to do the same on my 2016 Windows i5 laptop and it used to work fine. Why is this happening with my 2020 ko Macbook Pro?

    Hi It's been about 4 years since I bought my iPhone 7. I noticed that when I copy/move data like media, it takes longer to copy/move the data than before. Does the iPhone 7 storage have a lifespan like SSD storages ?

    174GB backup size after installing Catalina?

    I just downloaded and installed Catalina for my MacBook Pro, from early 2015. I needed it to update Logic Pro X. I backed up the computer prior to the update, and now it's showing 174GB for the backup? I'm concerned about this, I was stuck in the "preparing backup..." phase for over 20 minutes until I gave up. Now I'm concerned that I won't be able to backup my files! Any and all help is greatly appreciated

    Best place to backup live photos? (Major storage issue and trying to get all photos off of laptop)

    Hi all! I am really hoping that this is the right place to be posting as I have been searching and searching for a subreddit that best suits my question. I have a Macbook Pro (Retina, 13 in., Mid 2014) with 256 GB and I have run into an extremely frustrating storage issue that has been an issue for quite some time, but lately has put a significant strain on my personal and professional life in trying to get work done. I have found that my photos take up the most storage on my Mac and I am desperate to get them off but a large portion of them are live photos and this is not something I want to disregard and back up to anything that doesn't accommodate live photos. I know Google Photos does accommodate live photos and it's been very helpful in storing my photos that I take on my iPhone. My issue is that I need to get my live photos off of my Macbook to Google Photos and I wasn't sure how to do that until I found one other post on another subreddit in which someone else was having the same issue but they fixed their issue by turning on iCloud, turning on "Optimize Mac Storage", their photos from their Mac syncing to their phone, and then they had the Google Photos app sync with their photos so everything went into Google Photos' system (which is what I do now with my phone photos). Well, I was excited to hear that this worked for them and began the process to do the same but bc I don't have enough iCloud storage and have used my free 5GB, it wouldn't sync any of my photos to my phone. Which makes sense but I'm just so frustrated I'm not sure what to do! It seems like my only solution is to just buy more iCloud storage in order for me to move on with the process to upload to Google Photos but if I buy more, then I wouldn't even have to upload to Google Photos!...right?!

    Maybe this is an easy fix and the solution is clear but I am just so frustrated and fed up with this storage issue and I really just want to get my photos off of my laptop and back up my live photos to a secure place and of course, free up some storage space on my laptop! I would truly appreciate any insight and help. Thank you so much and take care!

    Anyone deal with a device getting lost on the way back from mail in repair?

    This is kind of uncharted territory for me, and I know we're in the middle of a pandemic to make things more uncertain.

    Last month, my iPhone XR needed to get mailed out for warranty repair. I live about 2h from Apple's CA repair depot, for reference later. I packed up my phone, slotted my SIM into my iPhone 6 (oh no) and waited. Repair was done within a week of mailing it, it was due to arrive on the 4th of May.

    Except...it didn't. It got stuck at UPS' depot in Oakland, CA. Arrival scan, nothing more. Let it go an additional day. Still no activity. Poke UPS, they say nothing is guaranteed, you're just gonna have to wait and hope it comes in the next few days. Another day passes, this time I give Apple a call to get them in the loop on what's going on. They say they'll start an investigation on their end, expect to hear back in 10 business days. They send me an email stating they'll be in contact on the 18th.

    I poke UPS again on the 8th, they say they don't know where the package is, file a claim. They won't let me file one on my end, so I call Apple just to let them know what UPS said. They noted it, and at this point I just sit and chill until the 18th.

    18th rolls around, no contact from Apple at all.

    On the 19th I call in, not at all angry but just to see if they've made any headway on this and the advisor implies I'm being impatient and I didn't give them enough time. I said "well, I got an email saying they expect this to be resolved on the 18th. I'm not angry, but I just wanted to see if there was any progress." Got the "Don't call us, we'll call you" treatment. As of this writing, I've yet to hear a single thing from Apple.

    We're almost 3 weeks removed from when I was supposed to get my XR back (4 weeks total without the phone), and, well...now I'm getting a tad irate. It's not the end of the world (I ended up just saying screw it and buying an iPhone SE because I got a good deal on one via trade in), but I feel like I'm getting sort of screwed around and I'm not a fan of that. Wondering if anyone else has been in this boat and what they ended up having to do.

    Moving windows with second monitor switched off?

    I connected a monitor to my MacBook Air. Now with this monitor switched off yet staying connected, I cannot seem to access the windows anymore that were placed on this second screen, for example to move them back to my MacBook screen.

    Is the only way of accessing them by either unplugging the screen or by switching it on?

    Fixing spotlight when online directions don’t help

    Hi there,

    I've been trying to find something that will make spotlight work for my 2015 MacBook Pro iOS High Sierra.

    Re-indexing didn't work and neither did the First Aid part of Disk Utility.

    It's a phone recording in QuickTime that recorded me being scammed by a moving company that qualifies as a moving scam company by the government.

    So the necessity of that recording is high, but neither folder searches and spotlight work.

    MY (second-hand) iPod 5th generation went into iCloud activation mode over 2 years ago, and I can't fix it.

    So for one of my Christmas presents in 2015 or 2014, I got this blue iPod Touch, it was my life back then. My family couldn't afford a brand new one and had to get a second-hand one. One day, early 2017, my iPod just turned off and went into this white screen that said iCloud Activation. The email that is for the icloud starts with a and ends with (@)mail.com. There is a few things that are weird with that. First, it isnt that weird but is kind of good, my name starts with an a and all of my emails start with my name. The only problem with that, is that I have don't have, or know of, a email of mine that is (@)mail, my are either gmail or hotmail. It has been years and we dont have contact to the original owner, my theory is, it that he is a jerk and put it in that mode so I can't use it. Please, PLEASE, PLEASE say there is a way to bypass this.

    Used Mac Pro (2013) Help With Errors After Resetting it to Factory Settings

    I was given a used Mac Pro, and, after erasing and resetting the computer to its factory settings, I got past the screen where you select the language and the screen that has you accept its terms and conditions.

    After this it asked me to reinstall the OS, but, when trying to select the now greyed out Macintosh HD icon when trying to reinstall, an error message came up that said I needed to select "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)".

    I wasn't entirely sure what to do with this so I turned off the computer and then tried to turn it back on with the same commands (option+command+R) that reset it. This appears to have screwed it up, and now when turning on the computer I just get this screen:

    tldr: iCloud notes are not available in secondary iCloud accounts after iOS 13.5 'upgrade'.

    My wife and I have our own iCloud accounts, but we use a third iCloud account to share data for contacts, calendar, reminders, and notes. This has been working great for the last 1,000 years. After the iOS 13.5 update, iCloud now says that notes are only available with the main iCloud account.

    Why would you make this completely arbitrary change? How does it help you in any way! It certainly doesn't help the user. I get that the user is irrelevant next to your bottom line, but you don't make any money with notes. WTF, Apple!?

    Macbook flickers when trying to connect to a monitor (VGA-HDMI)

    I've been trying to connect my 2015 Macbook Pro to an external monitor, but I've had no luck. I did a lot of troubleshooting, but nothing worked. I have a VGA cable and I'm using a VGA to HDMI adapter to connect to the Mac. The Macbook's screen starts flickering like crazy when I connect it, and the monitor doesn't receive a signal at all. Is there anything I can do to make this work?

    earbuds problem (significant sound difference)

    i just recently began noticing a difference in the volume level of my earbuds. the left one is significantly lower than the right one. i've only had them for about two months. 6s iOS 13.4.1. is there anyway i can fix this

    MacBook charging problems; coffee damage

    Hi, the other day I spilled coffee all over my MacBook, I cleaned it up and turned it off for a little while. Afterwards it was working well, but it has some trouble with charging. That is to say, if I try to charge it just like that it won't work at all, but if I shut it down it will come back and charge, when it comes back half the time it charges perfectly and the other half it will only charger for 3-5 seconds and then briefly disconnect and charge again. This way it beeps a lot which is annoying but not a big problem.

    Today I was working and lost track of what pedant it was on and it shut down and now will not charge at all. I am a college student and would love to not have to get a new computer, so if there's any good advice on what I should do I would love to hear it.

    I purchased a MacBook Pro on May 5th and realized I didn't upgrade it like I was suppose to. I returned it and Apple received it on May 13th. They said they refunded my Barclay account that day and it still hasn't shown. I called both companies and Barclay said they haven't received it and Apple said the case is closed and that it was refunded. I don't know what to do, anyone have advice? I'm really annoyed. Thank you.
