Why did Apple remove all of the animations Posted: 08 Apr 2020 07:18 PM PDT So I know this isn't very recent, but taking a look back at some older macOS versions I noticed it a lot. It started when Mojave came out, where animations like checkboxes, opening Safari etc were removed, and they would just appear abruptly. I feel that without them it just seems more like Windows. I really want to know why they did it, because it seems like a waste of time just removing animations whereas Windows is now adding them. [link] [comments]

Read HFS standard file system on Catalina Posted: 09 Apr 2020 02:17 AM PDT Hello, I just wrote a feedback to Apple to ask the support back, anyways the funny thing is being able to mount FAT12 disks and not being able to mount much more modern Macintosh HFS ones, I'm not even asking about contemporary MFS disks... Well, trying to find a solution on my own I found this:
Is there any way I can mount old HFS disks that doesn't force me to use a virtual machine? I don't know anything about filesystem support on macOS but were they really forced to remove it? Thanks in advance. [link] [comments]
Does anyone else have issues with syspolicyd? Posted: 08 Apr 2020 08:08 PM PDT Around 10-20 times a day, my MBP 16-inch (2019) heats up to 80-90 degrees celsius for a few minutes. The reason is always the same one: syspolicyd! This is extremely annoying! I know what syspolicyd does but is this the expected behaviour? Is anyone else experiencing this or is there something wrong with my build? In case it is not the expected behaviour: Are there any fixes that don't require a reinstall? [link] [comments]
Posted: 09 Apr 2020 12:12 AM PDT Hello everyone! I have a macbook air 2019, and I was trying to clean some space up on my device. I followed a youtube video from snazzy labs, and installed omnidisksweeper. I cleaned several applications and cache files from my disk that were about 10 gigs in size. However, when I closed the application, I found logs in terminal saying (Operation not permitted), but I had given sudo access to the SSD. I can't find the deleted files anywhere, not even in the trash, and the space on the SSD has not increased even a little tiny bit. Where are my files?! Please help! [link] [comments]
Posted: 08 Apr 2020 11:57 PM PDT I'm running Mojave 10.14.5 and everything was fine until I enabled TRIM in the Chameleon SSD Optimizer app. Now every time I log in to the main account, it reboots after opening the apps that were opened previously before restart. How I can debug this and prevent the reboots/crashes? Options tried

Quicktime screen recording audio issue Posted: 08 Apr 2020 08:58 PM PDT Ever since I upgraded to Catalina, my Quicktime Screen recording audio has been randomly messing up. Sometimes the audio playback is very choppy and distorted. Never happened once in over five years of using Mojave, High Sierra etc. For reference I'm on the 16-inch Macbook Pro. This is a sample of the problem when I tried to record a screen recording of a sports montage from an online stream. Any insight would be much appreciated. [link] [comments]

At a loss and livid with the recent mac OS update (Catalina 10.15.4) Posted: 08 Apr 2020 09:53 AM PDT Please let me know if I've posted this in the incorrect subreddit--this seemed the best place. I'm running off a Mid-2012 MacbookPro (8GB RAM, 2.9 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i7) and since the update to 10.15.4 multiple programs (Firefox, Clip Studio Paint, Google Chrome, Pages) have been locking up and becoming unresponsive for no reason. I'm at a loss of what to do and am wondering should I wait for the next update (which, to be honest, I don't keep my eye on release dates when it comes to OS unless it's a big jump) or should I try and go back to an earlier OS? If the downgrade, should I just go back a single version or leave Catalina completely? I work off my computer and what little money I make doesn't cover simply getting a new machine. I need to access these programs to even access online/cloud based applications. Any direction would be much appreciated. [link] [comments]
What happens if I keep iTunes (Mojave) in one mac and Music (Catalina) in another mac? Posted: 08 Apr 2020 08:44 AM PDT Basically what the title says. I just upgraded my super old non-retina MacBook Pro 13 inch with an SSD and max RAM. I installed Catalina because the software that the repair shop installed in the computer was El Capitan. Should I expect any issues if I open Music in the Catalina machine, and also keep using iTunes in the other mac that still runs Mojave? [link] [comments]

[MBP] Can’t use external monitor after data wipe Posted: 08 Apr 2020 12:53 PM PDT I have a semi-broken 2018 touchbar MBP which has a cracked unusable screen. I've been using it as a Mac mini over the past few days by having it plugged into an external monitor and duplicating my screen. I wanted to Re-install Catalina and wipe all the data so I went into recovery mode and did a data wipe. I wasn't able to get back to the recovery menu from disk utility so I restarted the computer and pressed the standard key combination to get back into recovery mode. After the wipe, when recovery mode opens up (I can't tell if it does), my external monitor doesn't start duplicating Mac's screen so I can't reinstall Catalina. If I don't go into recovery mode, I'm not sure what happens because I can't see what's on the display either. Can anyone help me get out of this situation? [link] [comments]
What are your highest hopes for macOS 10.16? Posted: 08 Apr 2020 05:13 AM PDT I'm wondering what y'all think, since the unveiling is in under 2 months Does anyone also wish they drop the 10.x version number scheme? It's getting a little dated [link] [comments]
Tiny blue squares with question marks inside while using Safari (MacOS Catalina) Posted: 08 Apr 2020 12:39 PM PDT How to fix this problem? Factory reset and reinstall to sell Posted: 08 Apr 2020 12:34 PM PDT I'm currently trying to factory reset my iMac and Reinstall the OS so I can sell it. But when I hold Command + R, it does nothing. It just sits on a blank screen. Please help. 🙏🏾 [link] [comments]
Getting media control bottons to work on RDP computer Posted: 08 Apr 2020 11:54 AM PDT Hey guys. I've had my MacBook for a little while now. Since I started working from home, I've been using the MacBook as an RDP client to a Windows machine. I want to use the media controls (play, pause etc) on the Mac to control the Windows machine. Is this possible? [link] [comments]
How do I stop the dock from moving to external monitor? Posted: 08 Apr 2020 11:42 AM PDT I have a larger monitor connected to my 13" MacBook Pro. Whenever I accidentally hover by the bottom of the external monitor, the dock disappears from the MacBook screen and pops up on the monitor. This is really annoying and I want to turn this feature off. What's even more bothersome is that when I try to get the dock to return to the MacBook monitor by hovering at the bottom of the screen (as prescribed by various online sources), it doesn't work. The only way to make the dock return to its original spot is to open up system preferences, change the dock position to left, and then back to bottom. That is tedious and unnecessary. I have separate spaces checked, so that's not the problem. Is there any way to fix this? [link] [comments]
Mac Mail stopped pasting Hyperlinks. Posted: 08 Apr 2020 11:27 AM PDT Hey all. This issue happened to me a year ago and I can't remember how I solved it. Generally when u paste a website link in Mac Mail while sending a message, it usually is hyperlinked. Suddenly it stopped. Doesn't matter that my Email format is Rich Text, or I selected "Smart Links" in Substitutions. I am on Catalina. A restart also didn't solve this. Anyone encountered this before? Any help? Thanks, EDIT: Hyperlinks are still working in other apps, such as Notes, or Powerpoint, etc. [link] [comments] |
