| Apple Server blocked by university’s network admin Posted: 03 Apr 2020 08:48 AM PDT Hi guys. I have a macbook pro 2015 and uses 100mbps ethernet via thunderbolt 2. When connected to university's local ethernet, i constantly have problems signing in to my Apple ID with errors "There was a error connecting to Apple ID Server". When I use my own internet hotspot, theres no problem whatsoever. This occurs to Apple ID sign in on System Preferences, Mac App Store and even Apple TV. To make things worse, i cant even stream or download any shows from Apple TV :( So could there be any solution for this? And if i were to contact the network admin, what should i request in? | Audio lag with MacBook and AirPods Posted: 04 Apr 2020 12:10 AM PDT I just bought a 2019 MacBook Air today and have been using my first gen AirPods to watch Netflix/YouTube and am finding them practically unusable because the latency is so bad, everything is out of sync. I've previously had a 2017 MacBook Pro and used it with the same AirPods and never had any issues with latency. Is there any fix for this? I've searched everywhere online and have found similar problems, but nothing recent and nothing actually helpful Edit: Now my AirPods are connecting/disconnecting all the time. | Late 2015 iMac only boots in Windows 10 Posted: 03 Apr 2020 03:31 PM PDT I have a 2015 iMac that has Windows 10 and it loads perfectly fine, I can watch 4K videos play games etc. So whenever I want to boot in OS X the progress bar fills but doesn't load into OS X. I tried loading OS X from an external SSD and it's the same thing. Thinking maybe the partition is corrupted. I tried resetting the P-RAM, internet recovery. Should I just swap the Internal HDD with an SSD? I don't mind losing data. I ordered a thunderbolt to FireWire 800 adapter to see if target disk mode works since I have a working 2009 MacBook Pro. | Trackpad Clicks Not Working after Switch to Catalina Posted: 03 Apr 2020 07:55 AM PDT Sorry if this has been answered before, I searched but couldn't find anything specific here.I was pretty late to switching from Mojave to Catalina because I heard of a lot of issues, but recently made the switch. Since I've switched, I noticed some annoying issues with my trackpad, essentially not registering ever other physical click I make (not taps, those are fine). This is plenty annoying for my job where I have to copy & paste a lot of things, and I reached out to a iOS coder friend for some guidance. He told me this was 100% related to Catalina and not a physical issue with my 5 year old Macbook. My Mac is in great condition & these issues did not exist the day before I switched from Mojave. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this, if they were able to fix it in Catalina or if they had to downgrade? Appreciate any guidance here, thank you in advance! (Extra: Noticing some issue with keyboard keys not registering also, but not a specific key. Every time i go to a website, the website reloads and says that there is a problem. I have cleared the cache and the history, deleted the Cache.db file from the Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari folder. | 2018 MacBook Pro on Catalina shuts down without warning when battery around 20% Posted: 03 Apr 2020 07:42 AM PDT Over the last couple of months my MacBook Pro has been shutting down when the battery gets low with no warning at all. I'll be working and all of a sudden the screen will go black and the machine stops responding. At first I didn't know what was causing it so tried plugging the power in. The odd thing is I hear the power charge indicator tone as if the computer is still awake, but the screen stays black and the computer is unresponsive for a while, up to half an hour and then eventually after several attempts to reboot it it will come back on. My son has a 2015 MacBook Pro and it seems to be doing a very similar thing. Anyone else having this? Anyone have a solution? I fear Apple has gone downhill, especially in the last couple of years. | Help needed to work with single user mode Posted: 03 Apr 2020 09:50 AM PDT iMac mid-2011 running macOS 10.13.6, I believe. I can only boot to single-user mode and would like to do a few things. 1- After plugging in the external drive, list the mounted disks and their properties (including file system format). I foolishly tried just using diskutil list but single user ain't having it. 2- Format the external drive to APFS (or whatever my internal drive's format is). 3- Create a complete backup of the internal drive that I will be able to recover from later, on a PC that isn't a text screen. I have done dumb amounts of googling and have at least 20 tabs open that may be of help to me, but I'm not knowledgeable enough to be sure. I've also gone through Apple Support (many times) but even though they could help, they can't guide me through single user mode on the phone and the nearest Apple service provider that's open is 150+ klicks away (yay COVID).
