Discussion around Apple going AMD for their high-end devices? Posted: 03 Apr 2020 11:49 AM PDT Mods If this isn't allowed please delete! TLDR: Just interested in people's thoughts and looking to have a conversation. I wanted to have a conversation around this, especially now that laptops are being released (today actually, I believe) with a desktop 3950X, that's a 65w 16 Core, 32 Thread chip, in a laptop. The main reason they can pull this off seems to be that 65W TDP. A 16" MacBook Pro with anything close to that, the 4900 that recently released for example, would be a big step up from the intel chips currently in/slated to be in the MacBook Pro. With regards to the Mac Pro, Threadripper is an obvious choice, it beats out the competing Xeons by a significant margin while using less power. I can see a world in which Apples lower power devices are using their A series ARM chips, and their higher end "pro" devices are AMD perhaps with an ARM coprocessor for some tasks, similar to the current T2 but perhaps with a larger presence. What are people's thoughts on the topic? [link] [comments]
Can’t believe this thing still works Posted: 03 Apr 2020 09:31 AM PDT My father in law bought this beats pill a few years ago to use around his ranch. All was fine until last year when he lost it. He found it ~2 months later in the middle of a pasture, it had been ran over by his Utv, surely stepped on by his cattle and left in the rain, heat, etc. I just found it left over night in the Mules cup holder, rained on and left in 16 deg windchill. I turned it on and of course it still works. I'm sure when this thing finally does die he'll buy another beats speaker. https://i.imgur.com/Z5QSrMm.jpg https://i.imgur.com/rVfubKd.jpg https://i.imgur.com/HTmiv7Z.jpg [link] [comments]
