How long do you keep your iPhones?

    Posted: 18 Apr 2020 09:44 PM PDT

My dad has had his 6 for 5 years. I've never kept a phone longer than 2 years, but I've never had a brand new iPhone until the 11 Pro.

I'm just curious how long my fellow Redditors keep theirs.

Any suggestions for a rugged case for an Iphone 11 pro max?

    Posted: 18 Apr 2020 01:09 PM PDT

I use a samsung note 8 and i just ordered an Iphone 11 pro max because i have never used an iphone and i love large screens because i tend to read, game and stream on my phone, that being said, i can be occasionally careless and my phone drops a lot, because of this i tend to go for rugged cases, for my note 8(i used it for 2 years) i got an Iblason case case and it worked really well, the issue however is that it leaves scratches on the side of my phone and it starts to come apart after about a year, i had to get another one in November and already broke at the top right, i would appreciate any suggestions on a very good fall resistant case.

    {THESIS} Apple and planned obsolescence

    Posted: 19 Apr 2020 09:16 AM PDT

    Hello everyone,

I have to write a thesis about the place of Apple in planned obsolescence.

Except the slowing down battery scandal with IOS 12, do you have any ideas I could develop in my paper?

I was thinking about writing on the change from 30pin connector to lightning in 2012 or the fact that there is no headphone jack on the iPhone since the 7.

Do you have sources I could use?

Thanks a lot for your help!

    Greetings from Germany

What happened to the Otterbox Commuter series?

    Posted: 18 Apr 2020 03:10 PM PDT

I don't see any on the Otterbox website, and the Amazon offerings are pretty sparse. It was their best case imo. Please tell me it didn't get discontinued? Specifically asking about a case for the 2020 SE (or 7, or 8), but I don't see it for any? If not the commuter (defender too big for me, symmetry not enough) then what?
