    I have chill tab.

    Posted: 05 Feb 2020 10:40 PM PST

I deleted all unnecessary/suspicious applications from my computer. I deleted all files in /users/shared. I have not downloaded any malicious application. But, sometimes while just doing my own thing, browsing youtube, safari unexpectedly opens itself and shows a chill-tab pop-up, it makes my mouse impossible to move anywhere else than the box in "press here to close this window" I need help deleting this from my computer.

What's the best way to sync and create a backup of your iCloud Drive?

    Posted: 05 Feb 2020 09:20 PM PST

Lets say if you used iCloud Drive to contain everything, what would you use to back it up?

I tried Chronosync but it doesn't work when it comes to backing up iCloud Drive, also not sure how you can overcome syncing files when iCloud Drive automatically offloads files.

Audio not working on Macbook Air (Tried NVRAM and SMC reset to no avail)

    Posted: 05 Feb 2020 11:48 AM PST

Hey guys, I was hoping some of you may be able to help me with this.

I've an early 2015 MacBook Air running macOS Mojave 10.14.6. This is the third time in the last 2 years the audio has stopped working for me. The last two times, it came back after I reset the NVRAM.

This time, however, I tried resetting the NVRAM and the SMC but the audio is not coming back.

Description:It started with a lag when I try to set the volume both with the volume keys and via the volume icon in the top right corner. Also, YouTube videos won't play on any of my browsers. So I restarted my machine. After the restart:- YouTube videos will play but without sound- The volume icon is faded and I can't adjust the slider- I see "No devices found" when I look into the System Preferences > Sounds- coreaudiod is still running in the Activity Monitor though; tried restarting it but it doesn't help either

    Edit:

Will doing a factory reset help?

I'm really trying to avoid having to go to an Apple store to get it fixed; the closest one to me is at least an 8 hour drive away from where I am.

    Thanks in advance!

After HD wipe, and MACOS resinstall Stuck on Apple Loading Screen

    Posted: 05 Feb 2020 11:30 AM PST

wanted to do a HD wipe. Deleted drive in dusk utility (after backup) and reinstalled MacOS. Everything appeared to work fine, but upon restart its gets to the black apple loading screen and freezes there. I've tried several startegies at this point: reset PRAM NVRAM....I am unable to boot into safe mode or regular recovery mode. The only thing I can boot into is Internet Recovery Mode....ive tried from there running disk utiility and first aid (no problems) and I am still faced with the same issue: freezes at apple loading screen......any initial thoughts?

    thanks guys!

I've been clicking "Update Now" for the 10.15.3 update many many times - Doesn't seem to do anything after downloading the update.

    Posted: 05 Feb 2020 02:58 PM PST

I've been clicking "Update Now" for the 10.15.3 update many many times - Doesn't seem to do anything after downloading the update.

Every time I click on "Update Now", the update downloads, and then it goes back to the same "Update Now" window. I've tried restarting, shutting down, nothing seems to solve this. Stuck in a download loop. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Is there a way to slow down an iMac

    Posted: 05 Feb 2020 02:04 PM PST

I know this is a weird request.

My work place is very territorial and low on resources. Due to this, when someone finds out your computer is faster than theirs they will take it in a heart beat. I'm going to be out of the office for a few days and someone is going to have to use my computer.

I'm wondering if there's a way to throttle my processor or something to ward off any chance of someone taking it before I get back?

Just started getting spinning pinwheel on Macbook Pro. Why?

    Posted: 05 Feb 2020 08:39 AM PST

    I'm on a 2017 Macbook Pro with 16GB RAM.

As of a week ago, I have been getting some stalling and brief occurances of the spinning pinwheel (perhaps for 2 to 3 seconds a time). Never had this before. It's happening when switching between programs/windows, and opening some files such as Word documents.

Turning off Genie effects, cleaning memory, resetting PRAM/SMC seems to have had no effect.

    Any ideas?

Can I reformat/wipe my old MBA and reinstall Mojave without a bootable installer?

    Posted: 05 Feb 2020 12:17 PM PST

Is there a way to use Recovery Mode & Disk Utility to wipe just the user-specific content on the drive and reinstall Mac OS X Mojave (currently installed) without having to do a full wipe and clean reinstall?

This is to do a clean wipe so I can give the old Mac to my brother.

I just don't have a USB key or drive and I am far too lazy to go buy one, I never use them.

What is the software 熊掌记 (1.7.8)?

    Posted: 05 Feb 2020 11:52 AM PST

    EtreCheck shows it was installed

    2020-01-27 熊掌记 (1.7.8)

And it shows up in a crash log from September of last year.

Literal translation is Bear's Paw. Sophos and MalwareBytes didn't flag anything.

I have no idea why it would be installed on my (English) macOS 10.15.3.

    Anyone know what it is?

    Can't turn off iCloud Photos

    Posted: 05 Feb 2020 06:44 AM PST

I recently got a new 2019 Macbook Pro and naturally let the iCloud Photos sync. Now as I've figured out other people ran into the same issue with the process 'photoanalysisd' hogging all the CPU power, so basically my patience has run out, and I figured I don't even need my iCloud photos on my Macbook, so I thought I'd turn it off. Problem is, whenever I try to, either from the iCloud settings or from the Photo App's settings, nothing really happens, the app freezes, the fan in my Macbook starts going crazy and I could probably sit here and grow grey hairs quicker. What do I do? I'm considering factory resetting the whole thing, as it's still new and I have yet to put any important files on it. What's my best course of action?

How to connect external EIDE HDD enclosure with Mini USB to USB-C on macbook pro?

    Posted: 05 Feb 2020 07:57 AM PST

Good morning, I've recently converted to mac with my 2017 MBP and have a few old laptop IDE HDD sitting around collecting dust. I'd like to use one of the larger ones as an external drive for my photography and have a 2.5in external enclosure with a Mini USB port and a y-cable with 2x USB A plugs.

I know the reason for the Y-cable was to get enough power to spin up the drive, but I'd prefer not to run 2x A to C adapters. Do I need to use both connectors or can USB-C deliver enough power to spin up the drive?

Upgrading a mid-2013 11" Macbook air from Mavericks

    Posted: 05 Feb 2020 07:46 AM PST

I got a used mid-2013 11" macbook air and I'd like to upgrade it (mostly because I have an iPhone and would like to use things like Airdrop and I know some MacOS versions still get security updates). I've also already backed up my macbook with Time Machine in case I want to downgrade to Mavericks later. Therefore I was wondering how you guys chose what version to upgrade your macbooks to.

Mac App Store program won’t open

    Posted: 05 Feb 2020 04:28 AM PST

I'm attempting to install iMovie on my MacBook Pro, but everytime I click on the Mac App Store program it gives me a black screen and the rainbow loading icon appears. Has anyone had this problem before, and have any suggestions how to fix it? I have a 2012 MacBook Pro with an SSD and 8GB ram. When I attempt to boot up the App Store program, the swirling rainbow sign appears on the screen and I have to restart my computer. It must be a bug, but does anyone know any fixes?
