Apple needs to be transparent with updates to AirPods and resort back to older firmware if a newer firmware is pulled back

Back in December, firmware 2C54 was released for AirPods Pro. Soon after this was released, it was reported that Apple pulled this update back. Unfortunately, those that got the update still have it. Soon after, I started seeing headlines about noise cancellation being worse after this update. At first I didn't believe it, but lately I've been noticing this a lot more.

I describe noise cancellation that AirPods Pro has to others interested by stating that I never feel like the outside noise is impacting what I'm listening to. Sure, you can here some things, but it's never intrusive to me at least. However, I feel that with this recent update I can hear way more than I used to. I can hear cars and transit going by, understandable, but I hear things like small conversations next to me at normal volume or just light keyboard taps.

I really feel that Apple needs to be transparent about what they're doing to AirPods updates like all other products. Especially if there's an update that causes certain issues, they need to be transparent on what the issue was and give users the opportunity to revert back while issues are being addressed. The only reason I can think of for reducing noise cancellation performance is to save battery, but I would rather have better noise cancellation compared to battery life.

How do you choose when to leave the Apple ecosystem for certain things? What do you use?

    Posted: 05 Feb 2020 05:13 PM PST

We all love Apple products. There's benefits to having everything in one place, for sure.

How do you decide when to use products outside the Apple ecosystem? For example, I use Spotify instead of Apple Music, Kindle instead of Books, and Audible instead of Books. I also use Spotify for Podcasts in lieu of the podcasts app.

At this point, my reasons are financial and historical more than anything — Spotify combines Hulu, I have an unlimited plan with Audible which Apple doesn't seem to offer, I have a physical kindle device, etc.

    Curious to know people'a thoughts.

Future Request-Password protected-Encrypted "Hidden Photos" category.

    Posted: 05 Feb 2020 02:21 AM PST

Apple is talking about PRIVACY. When will we get password protected "Hidden Photos" album? Android has it, why ios STILL! DOES NOT?! There is no point calling Hidden photos "Hidden" if they don't protect your photos and can be accessed super easily. It just ends up being another useless album. Each one of us have some personal photos that want to keep hidden and secret , why not give us that option? Other options (such as putting photo in notes and lock it or 3rd party apps) are not safe-not privacy friendly, can be bypassed and don't have a quick access compared to Photos Hidden Album.

Let's start sending emails, future ios feedback to apple to make this change happen! https://www.apple.com/feedback/

P.S: It would be great if we could choose among Face ID,Fingerprint or password to lock-unlock the Hidden Photos album. Password is and will always! be the safest and most secure way. Face ID and Fingerprint are on the other hand faster to access but they can very easily be obtained-bypassed, thus not secure for protection of Hidden Photos.
