Oh no, Pluto.tv just “YouTubed” it’s Apple TV app Posted: 22 Feb 2020 04:45 PM PST It looks like Pluto.tv just pushed out an update, completely overhauling it's Apple TV app. They've done what YouTube did to itself a few years ago... completely throwing away the old interface and replaced it with something else that does not effectively use the track pad. If you bring up the guide you can only advance one channel at a time. There's no way to quickly scroll through the channels. They're not using the Apple feature anymore. There's a category menu to the left that speeds things up a bit, but there's no fast scrolling with it either. These common Java apps or whatever they are are making the platform unusable. Has Apple ever publicly commented on it? [link] [comments]

Color space issues with latest Apple TV 4K. Posted: 23 Feb 2020 01:57 AM PST Hi guys, Equipment that I have: 1) Latest Apple TV 4K with all updates 2) JVC NX7 projector set to HDR10 mode I have a weird issue. When I set the "match content" setting to "On", the following happens: 1) I play 4K HDR Content (The Witcher) on Netflix. The screen flickers for a bit and it looks perfect. 2) I then play some HD/SD content (Big bang theory). The screen flickers for a bit and it looks reddish and choppy. HOWEVER, when I set the match content setting to off, every type of content (be it 4K, HD, SD) plays perfectly without the screen needing to flicker also! I thought the opposite was supposed to happen with this setting. Any idea why this is happening? P.S. My native setting on the Apple TV is 4:2:2 4K 60 Hz. [link] [comments]
Does the current Apple TV 4k support the use of an external hard drive to play movies and music? Posted: 22 Feb 2020 09:10 PM PST Sorry, I tried googling but found only very convoluted discussions. I want to be able to plug a USB external hard drive (full of movies - mkv and music - mp3) into the Apple TV and play the media? Possible or not? I'm close to pulling the trigger on purchasing, but this would be a deal breaker. [link] [comments]
Dolby Vision/HDR10 issues with ATV and Sony XBR-X900f. Posted: 22 Feb 2020 08:13 AM PST As the title describes, I am having some issues with an AppleTV 4K and a Sony X900F. The issue is that when an HDR format is used, the picture gets really dim and looks worse than SDR picture. Initially I thought it was a cable bandwidth issue as the HDMI cable was old, but that was replaced and the picture is still the same. After lots of research and playing with settings, I cannot get the AppleTV and the Sony TV to play well together. When using the built-in AndroidTV apps, HDR and Dolby Vision look as expected. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. Edit: forgot to add that the ATV is on HDMI input 2 and tried in input 3. [link] [comments]
Posted: 22 Feb 2020 05:22 PM PST I purchased Westworld Season 1-2 boxset on iTunes. During Season 1 Episode 9, playback stops with error message 'problem loading content'. My internet works fine and this error doesn't occur with other movies or episodes on iTunes. I've tied restarting my Apple TV 4K, force closing the app and removing the episode from recently played but they haven't work. For some reason this issue only happens during one scene in the episode, if I skip ahead the episode plays fine. Does anyone else have a similar issue and know how to fix it? [link] [comments]
Posted: 22 Feb 2020 05:17 PM PST When I start a video from say, Netflix or Amazon Prime, I get no audio for a few seconds, then it comes in. This also happens when I pause then resume something. I have a TCL 5 series TV, 2019 model, and a Soundcore Infini Pro soundbar. The Apple TV 4K is connected directly to the TV via HDMI. The soundbar is connected to the TV via the ARC output. The soundbar supports Atmos so I have the Apple TV set to take advantage of that. When I use the TV's built-in Roku I don't see this audio problem. [link] [comments]

Why doesn’t iTunes stream Atmos for all movies that have Atmos available? Posted: 22 Feb 2020 09:54 AM PST Sorry if this is the wrong sub. I just don't understand why iTunes only has Atmos for certain movies. For example - Disney+ has all of the Star Wars movies streaming with Atmos. On iTunes however the best I'm getting is 7.1. What gives? [link] [comments]
Posted: 22 Feb 2020 11:37 AM PST ATV 4K and Vizio E70-E3. HDMI cables are recently installed Monoprice DynamicView Ultra 8K 48 GBPs. I recently had to reset the TV, and have the TV configuration settings restored to previous. The ATV saw the Vizio as a new device after the reset, so I'm redoing my ATV settings. I have Match Content Range and Frame Rate set to On, and the format is 4K SDR 60Hz. Check HDMI Connection passes. When I attempt to enable HDR, the display goes black and eventually says "no input". The ATV doesn't come back to life. If I set it to 4K HDR 60Hz, it says it cannot set it and reverts to 4K SDR. Similar results when attempting to set the chroma to 4:4:4, the display goes blank and ATV doesn't come back. HDR was working prior to resetting the Vizio. I haven't changed any cabling. There are no settings on the Vizio relating to HDR or the HDMI input. I'm using HDMI 1 on the Vizio. There is a Marantz AVR between the ATV and the Vizio. I have unplugged both the Vizio and the ATV from power. Any ideas on what's happened to HDR video? [link] [comments]
Is there a way to access the director’s cut of movies you own through the Apple TV app? Posted: 22 Feb 2020 02:47 PM PST Recently got an Amazon Fire Stick 4K for my bedroom tv, but I can't figure out how to watch the director's cut of movies. You can easily choose between cuts on the Apple TV device, but can't choose on the app for a different device. [link] [comments] |
