A solution for excessive battery drain in iOS and watchOS Posted: 22 Feb 2020 11:18 AM PST This issue has been bothering me for the last couple of weeks, in which both my iPhone X, SE and Series 4 Apple Watch had been experiencing excessive battery drain. My X used to end the day with about 30-40% left and my watch with around 65%. After the 13.3.1 and 6.1.2 respective updates, those numbers fell to 10 and 15% respectively, without any changes in apps or usage patterns. Disabling background refresh, turning off cellular data, dimming the screens, nothing seemed to fix it. This is until I found a thread in Apple Communities from a user that found it in a blog post and subsequently in another thread in MacRumors. It turns out the culprit for the battery drain problem is an issue with iCloud Keychain. Catalina introduced a TrustedPeersHelper process that keeps track of the database in charge of keeping the trust between all your devices signed on to your iCloud account. This database is located in This process was utilising a lot of CPU resources on my Mac, sometimes hovering at 40% for long periods of time. I assume this process is also present in iOS 13 and watchOS 6, because it was causing highly elevated CPU time on those devices as well. Checking the Diagnostics logs on my Apple Watch, I discovered a log file regarding TrustedPeersHelpers. In it, I found the evidence: That event lasted for quite a few hours, during several days. It was obviously draining the watches battery as well as the iPhone's, since they both communicate constantly over Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. So, the solution was to reset the keychain db files:
After performing this procedure, the TrustedPeerHelper process on my Mac is utilising 0% CPU, the diagnostic log for it is no longer being generated on my watch and the battery life has been restored to normal on all my devices. I took both the iPhone and watch off their chargers this morning at 9 AM and they are both at 83% at 4 PM. I even tracked a few workouts with the watch. Sorry for the long post, I hope this will helps other with similar problems. [link] [comments]
Why is Siri refusing to play from my Music Library. Posted: 22 Feb 2020 10:54 PM PST For the past week or so, any request to Siri to play a song, artist, album or playlist from my music library, just fails. She recognises the artist or track name because it gets capitalised but then she says "Sorry, I'm having trouble with the connection. Please try again." I've tried a settings reset, I even switched to a new phone but this is still failing on iOS 13.3.1 Anyone have a similar experience or any idea how I can fix this? [link] [comments]

Books App I hate you: want my PDFs back Posted: 23 Feb 2020 06:21 AM PST Just noticed that almost all of my carefully curated PDFs, eBooks (sorted into Collections) are missing on my iPad Pro (11'', newest iOS). I normally do not use iCloud for storage/syncing, as I store PDFs, eBooks temporarily on OneDrive and import them directly into the Books App. I tried enabling/disabling iCloud syncing for the Books App and iCloud Drive, which helped to at least a certain degree. But I'm still missing most of my documents. Is there a possibility to access my "lost" documents? [link] [comments]
Puffin accelerated browsing alternatives? Posted: 23 Feb 2020 06:08 AM PST I miss my Puffin browser. Even with images blocked and javascript turned off, Safari eats up way more data. Opera Mini on Android is the only other option Ive been able to find, but nothing for ios. Anybody? Before Puffin was banned, I could actually make use of AT&T's horrific deprioritized data speeds. Ive considered switching to an Android handset just so I can use that app again...but then cone to my senses :-/ [link] [comments]
[Question] Procam pricing difference in US & Europe Posted: 23 Feb 2020 05:42 AM PST Hello everyone, this question isn't specifically linked to ios, but it's about an app thats available in apple store. Procam app. Why there is a difference in price between US and France/Europe? 5.99 USD & 6.99 EUR. When it comes to phone/tablet/macbook i can understand because of the tax etc, but why there is similar thing seen for apps? is there any particular tax applicable for selling apps outside US too? This is kinda making me curious to understand. If someone can shed light on this topic would be appreciated :) [link] [comments]

Safari feature „select all“ deleted with newer ios versions? Posted: 23 Feb 2020 04:26 AM PST Hello, Is this crucial function to me still missing or have that added it somehow? Is it hidden somewhere? It was there in the ios versions before. How can I get it so I can select all text when pressing down on a word? Best regards [link] [comments]

Finally decided to fully switch to IOS from only using Android before Posted: 22 Feb 2020 02:19 PM PST Hello, I know these posts Android vs IOS are really tiring. But just really wanted to share my great experience I've had with Iphone so far: So I was very enthusiastic Android user on earlier days Using Nexus 5 (I used this thing for 3 years and loved it a lot), it was good old days in Android when you could customize it as much as you wanted and the way you wanted, great custom roms developers support, great custom themes, freedom and excitement for new Android updates which used to bring some major changes/features. When Lollipop released it pretty much ruined my great Android experience as it had pretty famous memory leak bug which was pretty much fixed for me after 6 months. Then I switched to Oneplus 6 which was nice phone but not great because Android got worse and worse, ram management was pretty bad for me (my phone had 8GB of Ram), constant lag spikes on scrolling, updates got boring and unexciting as it didn't bring any major changes or features any more, also Android got more locked down as there wasn't that much customization as in Nexus 5 days, lack of support when you had to wait for months to get bug fixes. After getting fed up of Android I decided to give IOS a try (I know a lot of people had mixed feelings towards it, some loved it, some hated it), so I didn't want to spend a lot of money and in last year September decided to buy Iphone 7 Plus which costed me 300 dollars. I fell in love with its constancy and UI, it's clean and simple. But it's not the one thing which surprised me, I was really surprised by its performance how can this old phone work even better than my (with much better specs) Oneplus 6 phone? When IOS 13 rolled out I had some performance issues and poor ram management which was fixed in weeks, instead of months as in Android case which also surprised me how good Apple support is. When these issues were fixed my Ram management got better than my Oneplus 6 phone which really surprised me again. I was stuck in between these phones because I liked Android freedom (you can download emulators, any app you want on it), of course in price of security as you can download malware, even Google Play Store was full of malware which shouldn't be a thing as Play Store is official Google Store. Later I decided I don't need this thing (I never used emulators anyways and didn't really care of cracked Android apps, except Youtube Vanced), I found some amazing apps on IOS. At the end I decided to sell my Oneplus 6, and fully switch to IOS as it's giving me much better experience than Android (nothing against it but in my experience IOS is just better) [link] [comments]

What are the best 3rd party apps that sync with iCloud? Posted: 22 Feb 2020 11:04 PM PST I hope this doesn't get an auto take down from the mods. I have been an Apple user for a long time now, but still swapped and changed here and there. So generally only ever really went half in on any eco system I was using. But I've been Apple only since 2016 now, and came to a cross roads when getting a new phone. Eventually I decided that I'd stay with an iPhone as Apple seems to care a bit more about Privacy than the others. So now I'm looking for the best 3rd party apps that sync with iCloud. I know of quite a few already, but I'm sure I am missing some (I don't own them all, some I'll never need). Writing/ Note Apps
To do list Apps
Habit Trackers
Finance
Health/Food
Quite a lot of note taking apps, none of which I usually have any use for, Apple Notes ticks the boxes I need. But past that there doesn't seem to be as many Apps, at least that I have managed to find. I understand Devs don't want to lock themselves into just one platform, and people do seem to prefer web apps these days. Any good ones I am missing? [link] [comments]
I have transfered my mp3 to my i phone. Ho can I do it reverse? Posted: 22 Feb 2020 11:01 PM PST I can't see iTunes functiom that take my mp3 out of iPhone. Is it normal? [link] [comments]
IOS wrecking good work of the past, with hopeless upgrades. Posted: 22 Feb 2020 06:06 PM PST It's happening more and more. One example - "Reminders", was upgraded in IOS 13. But in a practical way it's now worse than it was -
There are also various useful things they could have very easily introduced, but didn't - It's still impossible to set individual alert sounds to each reminder, for example. An obviously needed thing. This makes the customers like myself looking for alternatives. They really are losing the plot aren't they [link] [comments]
