Does anyone else find the multi-task mode on Apple TV 4K unworkable? Posted: 01 Feb 2020 04:02 AM PST When you double click the TV you can flick through your open apps, but I find it really unreliable. The touch pad doesn't work well here. You flick one way and it'll stall or go the other way. And it's really tricky to flick apps away like you would on an iPhone or iPad. It's like it's got a very low frame rate or something. I don't have many apps installed let alone open. It is the 32GB version but everything I read before I bought it made it seem there were no drawbacks with this unless you download a load of games. After all that's storage not RAM. Any thoughts? [link] [comments]

Match Dynamic Range works on SDR Monitor? Posted: 31 Jan 2020 11:38 PM PST I have a regular Monitor. I was wondering why when I turned On "Match Dynamic Range" in settings, The setting does apply to some movies and tv shows in netflix and prime video. I know it's applied because my screen goes black for a second. And it does the same thing for "Match Frame Rate" aswell. For eg: some content I watch is in 50hz. So my monitor changes to that which I can check in settings. My qs is, why am I able to see a difference in picture quality and colours when I enable this option on few movies and tv shows? Shouldn't it always be off cos I only have a SDR 8bit Monitor. So that means even I enable "Match Dynamic Range" it shouldn't change anything, which it doesn't for the vast majority. But just confused as to why it affects few movies/tv shows for eg like the Into the Spider Verse movie on prime video. Please explain!! [link] [comments]
Why is the old Apple TV [A1469 (3G)]'s RC controlling the old 2012 13.3" MBP? Posted: 31 Jan 2020 09:27 PM PST Like audio volumes and even loaded up iTunes to play music in updated mac OS Mojave v10.14.6. What the heck? I checked settings like AirPlay, Home Sharing (was on, and I turned it off), rebooting, etc. Even if I am facing Apple TV with MBP behind me with its RC. What is going on? Thank you for reading and hopefully answering soon. :) [link] [comments]

Anyone experience the apple TV signal not activating? Posted: 31 Jan 2020 05:05 PM PST My apple tv is plugged in to power. Hdmi to the tv. The tv port is always on the apple tv. Turn on my tv and the signal wont go through. Press the apple tv remote and the light blinks but nothing happens. (signal doesn't go through). Only luck i've had was replugging the power and the signal finally activates on the tv. I have three apple tvs in my home, happens atleast once a week in one bedroom and once a month in the living room. [link] [comments]
Questions about 5.1 and Mono audio with Airplay 2 Posted: 31 Jan 2020 04:54 PM PST I have a simple question about multi-room audio with Airplay 2. I have a 5.1 system in my living room and a Symfonisk Airplay 2 speaker in my kitchen. My question is, if Airplay is enabled in both rooms, am I getting 5.1 in my living room and mono in my kitchen or are the streams both downgraded? [link] [comments]

Apple TV 4k on HDMI, TV’s system settings Posted: 31 Jan 2020 03:31 PM PST Bravia W905A series with Sony operating system prior to Android however firmware of latest version released by vendor in use. Apple TV 4k with OS version 13.3.1 connects to Bravia via HDMI. Internet radio app running on that Apple TV renders radio station to hdmi, Bravia input set to one of its HDMI inputs in order to continue listening to radio station - however Apple TV device captures commands send from Bravia RC to Bravia. So it is not possible to enter Bravia's system settings to switch off Bravia's screen for energy saving. How to fix / workaround this? [link] [comments]
Best way to stream video from Macbook other than airplay? Posted: 31 Jan 2020 02:44 PM PST So I have some video files on my macbook that i want to play through my apple tv however when i use airplay the video is slightly choppy. What success have people had with stream video files from there macs to apple using different methods? [link] [comments]
Posted: 31 Jan 2020 02:44 PM PST It will connect thru my phone and show that it's playing but in the TV screen a small grey box appears in the right corner saying what I am trying to play- "play CBS news" etc. But there's nothing to click? Thanks in advance [link] [comments]
Different Apps == Different volume levels on AppleTV 4k Posted: 31 Jan 2020 02:43 PM PST Netflix, iTunes, Youtube, and Hulu all play at about the same volume. When we use HBO or Disney+ we have to turn the volume waaay higher just to hear the dialogue. Doesn't matter if its a 4k Dolby Vision movie or Curb Your Enthusiasm episode. Apple TV is routed through a Denon AVR and has gone through its Audyssey setup. Never had this problem until I got the ATV4k Is there a fix or is this just because there aren't really standards out there? [link] [comments]
iOS Control Center Remote not working after update to 13.3.1 Posted: 31 Jan 2020 06:56 AM PST This might get confusing since there is a AppleTV Remote (physical), iOS Remote App (accessed via a normal app icon), and the iOS Control Center Remote pane, which I'll refer to as CC Remote from now on. I tested this on 2 iOS devices, an iPhone 6S Plus, and a iPad Pro 9.7". Everything was working fine with 13.3. After upgrading to iOS 13.3.1 on my AppleTV4K and on the iPad Pro and iPhone 6S+, the iPhone 6S+ CC Remote stopped working. I rebooted both the iPhone 6S+ and AppleTV4K but it didn't help. Every time I tried to use the CC Remote it complains that it "Can't connect to Apple TV, make sure that XX is turned on and connected to the same WiFi Network" I unpaired the iPhone 6S+, and repaired it by entering the 4 digit code on my iPhone 6S+. If I use the Remote App, I can control the AppleTV4K without any problem. From the iPhone 6S+ I can AirPlay to the AppleTV4K, so it is not a problem with the network. However the CC Remote still doesn't work despite being able to Airplay it to the TV! This issue does not occur on the iPad Pro 9.7" Both the Remote App and the CC Remote work fine. Ditto for the physical Remote. I don't understand why the iOS Remote App works fine on the iPhone 6S+ while the CC Remote does not connect. It is really weird. Does anyone have any suggestions? Posted: 31 Jan 2020 06:16 AM PST Hey, I just got a new samsung tv and i saw that it had the apple tv app on it already (i dont have the box). So i tried the app to watch some movies from my computer (projected to tv), and for some reason the picture was very choppy. Not all the time but 95% of the time it was like that. I really want to be able to stream from my computer to my tv but the picture is just too choppy and not smooth. Would buying the Apple TV fix the connection issues between computer and TV? There is no issue with my internet, download speed is 90Mbps and upload speed is 110Mbps. [link] [comments]
