Fake positive reviews from european macbook refurbisher Biomac Posted: 21 Feb 2020 11:13 AM PST Good evening everyone (it is the evening here in Europe ;) ) I just wanted to warn you about a French macbook refurbisher that sell their macbooks on Backmarket. I've found fake positive reviews on their Google business page (they go by the name "Tfb international"). If you sort their Google reviews by date it should be pretty obvious that their 12 last reviews are all fake (twelve 5 starts reviews in 2 days, while they usually get 1 or 2 reviews every month). You can also follow this link to their fake reviews. It's all french reviews, but google should auto-translate them for you, and you do not even need to read the reviews to notice the fake-looking pattern. I do not know how widespread the issue is, but be careful if you plan buying a refurbished macbook, do not blindly trust the average rating refurbishers/resellers have. I wish you all a good day/night, and be careful not to get scammed ;) [link] [comments]
Best OS for 2010 13" Macbook Air Posted: 21 Feb 2020 11:01 AM PST Hello everyone, i just ordered a used 13" macbook air from 2010. I got it for 94 euro's shipped. The model i ordered is the 1.86GHz model with 4GB of ram. I will be browsing the web and listening to music on it, and a lot of office work. I got it for college as my current ASUS laptop died because of my own mistake. Now, ive read that high sierra isn't very fast anymore on these laptops. So i was wondering, what version of MacOS would run the best on it, that is still quite modern? I did think of potentially upgrading it to catalina with dosdude1's patcher, but i don't think it'd run that well. [link] [comments]
Posted: 21 Feb 2020 09:09 PM PST I got my MacBook in high school where having a portable computer was more important than having a desktop..Now that I'm an adult and I work from home, it's starting to have it's drawbacks. I notice I hunch over a lot to look at my screen which has lead to neck and back pain. I'm going to buy a laptop stand and a Magic Mouse soon. Although the only snag in my plan is the keyboard. The Magic Keyboard hurts my wrists after a while. I've tried doing my research on Mac compatible keyboards and I've just gotten more confused. I'd like a mechanical one purely for the rubbery sounds they make and how fun it is to press down on the keys. Although I don't know what I'm looking for or where to start. I think I'm overcomplicating this for myself. I've tried the Keyboard subreddit, but I keep getting intimidated by the vocabulary and numbers. Is this brand worth it? Are brown switches the kind that make that rubbery silicone sound? Do you guys have any recommendations? I'd like to spend less than $100 on this..but I understand good keyboards can be expensive so I'd go up to $130 if need be. Thanks in advance for any help or advice :) [link] [comments]
Posted: 21 Feb 2020 05:35 PM PST So I bought a MacBook pro on Craigslist and I thought it was a fully upgraded mid 2015 when I looked at it I think it must have been hacked or something because that is what it shows when I look at the about this Mac screen but when I look at system info it shows only a 2012 MBP. About 15 sec after using the screen went black (it worked for about 15 min when I was talking to him). It still connects to a monitor or TV and I can use that but the laptop screen does not turn on. http://imgur.com/gallery/Dw0tFd4 Is there a way unhack it or tell what's on the inside without opening it up? (Apple wouldn't look at it and a repair shop wanted $100 just to open or diagnose it.) Things I have tried so far are resetting the pram, the smc, and booting up in safe mode. So far no luck Honestly I am super down about the whole issue and any advice on what to do would be great and would be great. I was wanting a computer for video editing and now all my money was spent on a scam. What I am thinking is that I might need to figure out how to repair it some how and resell so I can negate some of my loss. [link] [comments]

Posted: 21 Feb 2020 02:26 PM PST Most recently, my brother had used my MacBook to play a game and ended up raging and smashing my keyboard. Now I have a popped off key. Can anyone tell me how to pop it back on? [link] [comments]
Advice on purchasing a MacBook for music production Posted: 21 Feb 2020 01:59 PM PST I've found both a 2013 and 2014 macbook pro both with 16gb ram, 512gbssd and i7 processor. I've read on several subreddits that this would be sufficient for beginners and whatnit. I only plan on using it for garageband and perhaps ableton or fl studio. And of course surfing web, write essays for school etc. Does the difference in years really matter for something like this or can I save some money by just getting the 2013 MacBook? Help! Is the 2017 MacBook Air worth buying? Posted: 21 Feb 2020 08:04 AM PST Hi guys!! So rn I'm a high school student (gr.11) and I'm choosing between two MacBooks to use throughout high school AND college. I'm most likely going to be in the social sciences field for college so no video or photo editing just a lot of document use. Option 1: MacBook Air 13.3" - Silver (Intel Core i7 2.2GHz / 128GB SSD / 8GB RAM) - EM (2017 Model) - Refurbished (price incl tax: CAD 1073$) OR Option 2: Apple MacBook Air 13.3" w/ Retina - Silver (Intel Core i5 1.6GHz / 256GB SSD / 8GB RAM) - English (2018 Model) - Refurbished (price incl tax: CAD 1254$) For option 2 I still have to save a couple more hundred dollars through my minimum wage job lmao so i don't know if it's worth it. Let me know what you think, thanks! [link] [comments]
Mac to Mac large data transfer via wi-fi Posted: 21 Feb 2020 08:02 AM PST Anyone know how long it would take to transfer 700GB of data over WiFi? [link] [comments]
Posted: 21 Feb 2020 08:01 AM PST Any ideas? What I'm trying now is downloading Ubuntu and try to see if the issue persists there (won't install it, just boot it as Live CD and hopefully the HDMI audio drivers will load, Linux is notorious for good Intel chipset support) But perhaps this Macbook model is not even supposed to support HDMI audio out? Couldn't find anything online to back this up though Edit : Weirdly enough, HDMI audio started working after I booted Ubuntu, even on Mac OS [link] [comments]
Macbook Air 2019 for Film School? Posted: 21 Feb 2020 03:11 AM PST Hi I'm an incoming freshman this SY 2020 - 2021 in a Communications / Film course and my parents offered me to purchase the 2019 Macbook Air for college. Currently I have been using my Acer Aspire E15 with intel i5 and NVIDIA GeForce MX150 and 12 GB of RAM for the past two years for school and video editing. Should I ditch the old Acer and get the Macbook Air? Will it handle video editing as well as my Acer? The specs of the current Air confuses me with its underpowered memory, however I do understand that MacOS optimizes the specs very well and lasts a decade of support or so. [link] [comments]
2 questions, one about air/retina and the other about games Posted: 21 Feb 2020 04:14 AM PST MACBOOK CHOICE QUESTION: Okay so I've wanted a MacBook for quite a number of years now and I finally have the money to actually afford one, I was originally planing on getting the MacBook Air but then I saw the retina one. Now I'm not the smartest cookie in the world (Im also to lazy to search this myself) but my question is, what are the differences between the two? Like is the retina worth it? Only asking because it's more expensive so I just wanted to know how different it is to the Mac. MacBook Air; https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/apple-macbook-air-13-inch-128gb MacBook Retina; https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/apple-macbook-air-13-inch-with-retina-display-128gb-space-grey-2019 (MacBooks I was referencing above ) GAMING QUESTION: Now I'm fully aware that Macs aren't made for gaming, but I just wanted to ask how it holds up with games like... - Terraria - Stardew valley - Minecraft - The binding of Isaac rebirth (with afterbirth) - Prison Architect Also if some of these games don't actually work on Mac, sorry... as I said before I was too lazy to check :P I know these type of questions have been asked a lot but I thought I would make my own post just for so the info I read/get is up to date. (Also feel free to link me to another post if this has already been answered) Thanks in advance lads/lasses :) [link] [comments] |
