PSA: Apple has web apps for Apple Music and Apple TV Posted: 25 Feb 2020 05:04 PM PST My friends and I (some of them new to iOS and Apple) didn't know that Apple had standalone Web Apps for their 2 services. These Web Apps can be used by any web browser on any device with your Apple ID. The Apple Music one is in beta but works pretty dang well as I've been using it for the past months. Here's some links: I hope I made someone more productive at work! [link] [comments]
Posted: 25 Feb 2020 08:24 AM PST I'm fascinated by the design of Apple Stores. An employee I made friends with showed me some of the cool design secrets. Some of you may know about this, but for example one thing he said was "Notice anything strange about this table?" I said "No, not really?" then he said "Where are all the wires?" That blew my mind. To those that don't know they actually run the wires through the legs of the table to make everything look neat. I love this type of design and I'm trying to draw inspiration from them for my own home interior. One user on macrumors was actually able to recreate the Apple Store table design for their own home and I was hoping to do similar things. I love the way they are able to tuck unsightly items neatly out of sight. Another thing I found interesting was the display for phone cases are actually drawers that contain products, keeping everything unnecessary out of sight. So does anyone know anymore of these cool little tidbits? I find Apple's design ethos fascinating. [link] [comments]

HomePods listening capability is nuts Posted: 25 Feb 2020 07:14 AM PST I was wearing my headset while playing Xbox with my brother yesterday when he decided to call out to Siri at his house for something. My HomePods somehow managed to hear him say "Hey Siri" from across the room from my headset that was on my head. This isn't the first time I've been wow'd from its ability to hear me. Another time I was in the shower a room away and told Siri to change the song while it was playing a song at 80% volume. It's so different from the experience I have with my Google Home where occasionally it doesn't hear me even without any background noise. [link] [comments]

I redesigned the entire Apple Music app (UI UX Project/Case Study) Posted: 25 Feb 2020 11:28 AM PST Hi all! I'm an aspiring Product Designer and decided for my first ever case study/project I would attempt at redesigning the Apple Music app. I essentially took everything I would want in the app, paired that with all the users problems/requests I found on Reddit, forums, social media et al and rebuilt the app as if it got an iOS 13 upgrade along with the rest of the native Apple/system apps. A reimagining of the app as a music experience. Full interaction GIFs and mockups of every screen available in the links above. Let me know what you guys think. Any and all feedback is appreciated. Thank you! Jaymie. :) [link] [comments]

Things I learned opening my late 2015 27” iMac to put in an m2 PCIe SSD Posted: 25 Feb 2020 11:40 AM PST Use the iMac opening tool you will find on iFixit, Amazon, EBay, etc. It makes it so easy to cut the adhesive. You don't need the iMac wedge, just lay it down. Completely stable to work on. Pull the display up with large suction cups. Everything I found online were just small ones, so I went down to my local auto parts store and got a couple of 5" suction cups to pull dents out of cars. Screen came off so unbelievably easily. The iMac is incredibly easy to work on once you're inside, however the screws holding everything in are very hard loosen the first time. They're really tight. Use the Sintech M2 PCIe adapter so you can replace the Blade SSD. Depending on the PCIe SSD you put in, you may have to disable sleep. Not sure if this will get fixed at some later date. Boot Camp Assistant will not work if you have 2 internal drives, unless you turn them into a fusion drive. You likely won't get the display perfectly aligned when you put it back on. The adhesive is so strong that you won't be able to adjust it after without pulling the display up again and laying down new adhesive. [link] [comments] |
