    I've been using Android File Transfer and Ive just about reached my limit of patience with it - it keeps failing, it doesn't read devices, it crashes, it's slow and generally problematic.

    Basically I need an alternative - found many, many online but which ones are not known to be malware and are reliable?

    My MacBook Air is running Mojave.

    New Mac Book Air

    Hope I'm in right place. New MacBook replaced 5 yr old Dell laptop. I copied all my music off the Dell onto an external drive, leaving the folder structure intact. Most of the music is mp3. Some is lossless. What's the best way to recreate a library on Catalina?

    How to downgrade from Catalina to Mojave/Sierra?

    I have a Macbook Mid-2012 with Catalina right now and it is incredibly slow. Is there a way to downgrade from Catalina to Mojave or Sierra WITHOUT a full reformat? Thanks.

    Photo editing software for MacOS, beside Adobe PS?

    Hello, I am looking for a photo editing software where I can make YouTube thumbnails and create collages (like starter packs).

    I have tried many softwares from App Store but I couldn't find anything to suit all my needs, for example some of them did not have the option for layers, or the one to add text, or the option for axes to help me position something in the middle of the picture for instance.

    The reason I said "beside Adobe PS" is because the price is outrageous and I am not willing to pay that much, even tough I, most probably, don't have many options.

    Do any of you use something else than Adobe PS that these basic features (add text, axes for positioning and layers option)?

    wifi connects to extender but struggles to connect to nearby router

    I have a Macbook Air I upgraded to Catalina but since doing so the wifi connection defaults to the extender at the other end of the house (weak signal) rather than the router only metres away on the same network (in fact it often wont connect or drops it after being connected even though the router signal is much stronger). Any ideas? Thanks :)

    Popup that lasts 1 frame? Catalina

    Has the privacy/security icon, and text says: Verifying "8efbe100029n49f4f01jr1" or whatever random string of letters/digits

    Had to record my screen to see what the popup even said

    Anyone have this issue? Seems like it started after I installed Catalina.

    I'm on Mojave and had a water-inside-mac issue that led to see it rapidly power cycle a few times before I could convince it to stay off, before disassembling and drying gently with a hairdryer for the next hour or two. I already had the Torx screwdrivers handy and getting inside a 2015 MBA is fairly quick. So a day later it's all working and the press-D-during-reboot hardware diagnostics says it is fine, but my hard drive is corrupt enough to mean that regular development work on the Mac is interrupted once every 90 mins or so for another freeze and reboot. That itself is probably making the issue worse.

    So if I press command-R during boot, I get to a recovery side of the Mac and can launch DiskUtility there where it pretty much has the whole (albeit reduced) system to itself. And inside DiskUtilty, I can mount the main SSD volume, do the FaultVault2 auth, and then run first-aid on it. Observations:

    1. The progress bar doesn't progress. Delete it from the UI Apple if not rejuvenate it.
    2. There's use of the word 'snapshot' in the logs as FirstAid is doing it's stuff. If that is a TimeMachine snapshot the text should be changed to "TimeMachine snapshot" explicitly.
    3. Message "Restoring the original state found as mounted" could be renamed to "remounting the volume" if that is what is meant, or to "restoring the mounted volume to original state" if that is what is meant. Because it is not clear as is.
    4. A green checkmark to for "Done" signifies completion, yet there are still errors in the volume. Some other visual for complete-with-remaining-errors please? Errors are "directory valence check" type (see screenshot). However many times I reboot and redo FirtAid those errors are still there.
    5. Error output could include easy to type URLs for folks to go and read more.

    In my case, I'm most likely doing to have to wire, reinstall from TimeMachine. I'll lose nothing but time, as I can still do a manual backup of my home folder now.

    Xbox Wireless Controller wrong button mapping on Catalina

    Ever since I've upgraded to MacOS Catalina, my Xbox One S wireless controller has incorrect button mapping on my Macbook. It connects fine with bluetooth, but X thinks it's Y, Y doesn't work, the right stick isn't going in the correct direction, etc. Has anyone else experienced this?

    Old photos library won't sync to updated MacBook

    So, I was running a beta of macOS Catalina and backed up all my photos to my iphone. After that I wiped the hard drive and installed a fresh version of Catalina.When I went to sync my photos back to the photos app, it said it had to delete them and start fresh.

    Is there any way I can pull the pictures from my phone and save the live photo data?

    Help with mail split screen issue...

    Whenever I have any window full screen mail periodically (regardless of if I have new mail) splits the screen and displays my mailbox. I have turned off 'prefer opening messages in split view when in full screen' in mail preferences but it keeps happening and is driving me crazy.. anyone else had this issue?

    AirPlay and Remote

    Just got my first Mac. I think it's strange that you cannot AirPlay from iPhone to MacOS like to Apple TV. I know you can mirror but it's not the same. And I think it's weird that you can't control MacOS with iPhone like with Apple TV. And strange you can only unlock Mac with watch and not iPhone. Am I missing anything here?

    M.2 and enclosure compatible with MacOS and Windows 10

    Hello! I'm looking to upgrade my girlfriends workstation editing setup by replacing her current external Hard drive which holds her photoshop catalog and other necessary files by getting an m.2 with an enclosure using either usb-C or usb 3.0 Does anyone have any success with something like this? I want to get a 970 evo and just be able to format it to her MacBook while being able to retain as much data transfer speeds as possible.

    Side note she uses her MacBook on the go for photo editing and my PC for intensive editing but she finds her photos on the harddrive load very slowly (Seagate HDD) I believe an m.2 would be able to future proof her for a while at least.

    iWork updates?

    Any way to turn off updates for iWork on OS Mojave (10.14.6)? This stuff like numbers and keynote and all that I've literally never used, but hate to delete them just so I don't get spammed with updates. Garage Band is another, so think it's an app store setting, but looks to me like I have auto updates unchecked in there, so not sure where they are coming from.

    I want updates on for OS-related stuff, though, so don't want to globally disable updates.

    HDMI scaling issue

    I just bought a mac mini yesterday and I'm having some scaling issues. For now, I have it hooked up to a 24" 1080 monitor but the icons in the dock are cut in half, and the menu bar at the top is just off the screen but clickable. There are no scaling options on the monitor, and I can't find any in the settings on the mini. Any Advice?

    Used patch to upgrade 2011 Air to Catalina, but want to go back to High Sierra. How?

    I used dosdudes patch to upgrade my 2011 MacBook to Catalina. I'm finding that my MacBook is a little sluggish on Catalina.

    How can I revert back to High Sierra (the last supported release for my 2011 Air)?

    Can I just reinstall High Sierra by booting into recovery mode and reinstalling from there?

    Catalina WiFi Disconnect

    I've seen a number of posts and threads about WiFi problems with Catalina, and I have tried all the fixes to no avail. New network name in System Preferences, Deleting plist files, etc. I was starting to suspect my MacBook itself was the problem but before throwing in the towel I did a clean wipe and re-installed Mojave from scratch and now my WiFi is working perfectly...so Catalina has to be the culprit.

    Has anyone else had the pesky WiFi bug and not been able to find a fix?

    Has anyone had similar experience and found a magic fix?

    Do I need to reinstall Bootcamp Windows if downgrading from Catalina to Mojave?

    My mid-2014 15" MBP is currently on Mojave and I'm also using an eGPU (Sonnet Breakaway + RX5700) setup. The configuration works flawlessly on my Bootcamp Win 10 as I never encountered any error 12 problem.

    However, in order to use RX5700 on my Mac OS I'll have to upgrade to Catalina, which worries me as I've seen some posts regarding Bootcamp Win 10 being broken after the Mac OS upgrade.

    My question is, if I'm not happy with Catalina and decide to revert back to Mojave, can I still keep my Bootcamp Windows intact?

    Bonus question, can someone explain usually what happens to bootcamp Windows after major Mac OS upgrades? I know sometimes the Windows has to install newer version of bootcamp drivers but do not really know what will happen under the hood.

    Stuck on internet recovery globe

    Hi guys,

    I've been using MacOS multiple desktop feature for a time but I have an issue that I could not solve so far. When I want to use same app in different desktops, it keeps switching when click the dock icon.

    E.g: Let's say we have 2 spaces(Desktop 1 and 2) and 2 windows of same app, Safari(S1 and S2). I want to keep current desktop as my main desktop. I do not want to switch with clicking app icon. If I click to safari icon on Desktop 1 it means I want to open safari window on this desktop. But if I had minimized S1 on Desktop 1 and want to open the minimized window(S1) with clicking icon, it switches to Desktop 2 automatically. But I want to work with this window on Desktop 1. I already use touchpad or keyboard shortcuts for switching between spaces. I just want that all spaces do their job if the space is active. I do not know if there is a feature like keep all spaces independent from each other, but if there is please let me know.
