A list of some big name games coming in 2020

    Posted: 15 Jan 2020 03:24 PM PST

Just the other day I realised how many big name mobile games are coming out in 2020. I thought you might like a peek. It's wild seeing these games on a list for mobile release. It's going to be a good year!

(NB: Links take you to the official mobile game landing sites, official news release or main game site if you see a '\')*

That good year starts today! The first game has just released...

Pascal's Wager - It looks a lot like Dark Souls for mobile, and I am so IN.

    -----

Then we have a triple offering from Riot...

Teamfight Tactics - Autochess game from Riot Games with League of Legends IP

Legends of Runeterra - Collectible Card Game from Riot Games with LoL IP

Wild Rift - Mobile MOBA from League of Legends' dev Riot

    -----

...and more than a couple of household names making their way over from PC town.

Devil May Cry - Hacky Slashy adventure time is going to warp my back to my early teens

Eve: Echoes - Hugely popular space MMO gets a mobile version. I hope the scale is as daunting as its PC predecessor.

Diablo Immortal - The revered Blizzard dungeon crawler got a second showing at Blizzcon and what a difference a year makes! Looking forward to try it, but will it be any good in the long run?

Path of Exile Mobile - Fans of dungeon crawlers have not one but two games to look forward to. I've only played Diablo 3, but I'd have more time to play on mobile. Devs have promised a full-game experience.

    -----

And it's not just PC games making the jump to mobile, console franchises are inbound.

Tom Clancy's Elite Squad - Squad building game for PvP battles. Includes Sam Fisher from Splinter Cell. Not really sold on this but guaranteed to be F2P.

Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles Remastered - Team up with up to 3 mates and take your crystal caravan through a multiplayer Final Fantasy quest. A Gamecube classic to be sure, I hope it holds up.

Forza Street - Microsoft racer comes from Xbox to your pocket. Forza Street was announced in April Last year and looks pretty good for a mobile racer. Will it replace GRID on my phone? Probably not.

    -----

These mobile classics are returning and should look better than ever before...

Shadowgun Wargames - This is looking a lot like Overwatch for mobile. Please don't let it be crushed by expensive non-cosmetic IAP.

*Plants vs Zombies 3 - I love PvZ but let's face it, Popcap/EA sucked the life out of PvZ2 with monetisation (colour me surprised). With a new instalment, there's always hope... right? It's still in early testing so not a whole lot is known.

Tom Clancy's Elite Squad - Squad building game for PvP battles. Includes Sam Fisher from Splinter Cell. Not really sold on this but guaranteed to be F2P.

    -----

And a whole bunch of other games are rumoured/confirmed/alleged to be in development... who knows if we'll see them in 2020.

*Apex Legends Mobile - More than a rumour, just not by much. Announced at EA's Q3 Earnings Call with little noise since. Maybe we'll hear and see more at E3. Fortnite and PuBG are out there, I guess.

*Dauntless - Just discovered this game on Switch - multiplayer PvE monster hunting. Like Monster Hunter without the extravagant depth, which isn't a bad thing. Fast battles, good fun. All we know is it's in the works. For that, I hope 2020 isn't too much of a stretch.

*H1Z1 - This has been on people's lips since mid-2018. Who knows, maybe 2020 will finally be the year for this Battle Royale game from Nantworks, who're also looking to bring Everquest to mobile too. God knows we need another Battle Royale game on mobile. /s

    -----

Thanks for reading, I hope you found out about one or two games coming this year you didn't know about before. For sure, some of the best games in the year ahead are bound to be complete surprises. Can't wait.

What other games are you looking forward to in the year ahead?

Posting your own articles or whatever should only be allowed on saturdays, like with games.

    Posted: 16 Jan 2020 03:38 AM PST

This is a gaming sub and games > discussions > whatever should be what priorities look like.

Yet people can promote their other stuff besides games daily if they want to. This makes not much sense imo and should be stricter to improve the quality of this sub further.

is it just me that thinks this way?

Best way to mirror screen to Windows PC?

    Posted: 16 Jan 2020 08:40 AM PST

Have tried several softwares, but nothing comes as close as directly plugging in your device via HDMI.

Any suggestion? Preferably using the Lightning Cable.

Do you know any productivity/game crossovers similar to Forest?

    Posted: 16 Jan 2020 04:22 AM PST

For the uninitiated, Forest is an app that lets you grow a small garden as long as you don't unlock your phone. I also remember an RPG where your character gains exp based on daily tasks that you accomplish (anyone know the name?). I am looking for similar games where your progress is tied to certain tasks doing in real life or not looking at your phone, because I find my phone extremely distracting when trying to study/read.

Edit: the game is called Habitica

Why are people against game streaming?

    Posted: 16 Jan 2020 04:18 AM PST

I get downvoted everytime I bring up my iPad gaming set up on here or when I say that the AppStore has lackluster games.

I use a streaming service to play actual video games on the iPad. I thought people may enjoy that. The ability to play the very same games you play at home, on your mobile device, Not a cheap imitation, I thought would be something this sub would enjoy.

Am I on the wrong sub, because I personally enjoy 0 App Store games. Maybe sonic the hedgehog. But that's a console port and dated. Personally, I enjoy having that gaming experience while on the go.

That's what I thought this sub was all about.

If a moderator can chime in, that'd be lovely. I joined the sub with the intention of finding new ways to play games and options that the iPad provides. Then I log on and see everyone talking about oceanhorn and Apple Arcade. In my opinion Apple Arcade is a scam. Shit games with nice graphics.

    I'm a borderlands kinda guy.

A forza kinda guy. Far cry, Fall out , Halo. Sonic adventure 2. War frame. Dark souls.

And we all know the newer devices have the capability of running games of this caliber.

I personally feel ios"gaming" needs to move towards that direction. Less paywalls, less Re skins of bejeweled, less short games with no story, and most importantly, more fun!

I understand mobile gaming is a niche of its own where you play a quick 10 min sesh on the train.

I'm talking the big picture here though.

I just posted a screenshot of a twitch stream with an overlay and everything, running a triple A game on an iPad with no latency. But this got downvoted.

So again I ask. Am I on the wrong sub? Is this sub dedicated strictly to App Store games and no innovation?

Personally. Idc about karma here. I just want to discuss new ways of gaming and streaming, tweaks, capabilities, workarounds all that good stuff that you typically look for on a reddit sub. Discussion.

I've seen very little on the sub in regards to game streams like stadia, shadow, Xbox's version, etc.

If this is not the place for that. Please let me know. No offense to anyone. But I did not join to for the love of the games that are on the App Store. They're pretty disappointing for me.

    Season strategy or rpg games

    Posted: 15 Jan 2020 01:26 PM PST

Looking for a game that has seasons like in path of exile, it lasts for 3 months then a new season starts, rather than something that you play for X amount of hours and then its done. No reset persistent types also suck cause you will never catch up to the ones that started ages ago like Torn.
