    Do Not Factory Reset Devices - Built In App Bug

    I performed a factory reset on my iPhone this evening hoping to fix a bug I was having. After restoring from my iCould backup, all of my apps and setting downloaded except for certain built in apps such as:

    • Mail
    • Calendar
    • Music
    • Watch (big problem)
    • Activity
    • Stocks
    • Measure
    • Many more

    Some of these apps show on the home screen with the download/cloud arrow next to the names.

    When I go to select the app to force the download I receive the error: "Unable to Install "Mail" Please try again later"

    I replicated this issue by deleting "Stocks" on an iPadPro signed into the same iCloud Account and an iPad signed into a different iCloud account.

    After a lot of searching, I finally bit the bullet and contacted Apple Support (the support app installed fine). According to the Support Specialist:

    • This issue has been known since yesterday
    • They are working on a fix
    • No timeline is available
    • They will hopefully be updating their status page sometime today

    So now I am stuck for an indefinite amount of time without my mail, calendar, or most importantly, my watch which I wear daily and can not pair with any device since no device can download that Watch app.

    Note: I would not have done the initial restore on my phone, had any news been posted by Apple about this issue that they seem to have known about since yesterday (1/14/20)

    TL;DR: Do not perform a restore on your iOS device if you want to use basic functionality on your device.

    Update 1/16: I just tried and the apps all downloaded.

    Broken Apple ID, had to ditch my 10 year old Apple ID & create a new one

    Broke my Apple ID. Had to give up on it after trying different things.

    I did a factory reset of my phone today, after the reset when I was setting up the phone with my Apple ID it asked me to enter the old passcode to decrypt the keychain & iMessages backed up on the cloud. I entered that, it didn't work, after trying multiple times I choose the option to reset encrypted data. This is when my Apple ID broke. The setup never completed & my I was stuck on "This will take a few minutes" screen. I restarted the phone, tried to login again, still same issue. After hours waiting in the "This will take a few minutes" screen I just gave up & created a new Apple ID. Luckily I was able to login to iCloud.com & download my backed up photos. Now I should re-upload them to my new ID. I have reset my phones multiple times in the past, changed phones many times never faced this issue. Had to let go of my 10yrs old Apple account. It's just sad.

    Anyone else faced something like this?

    [HELP] iPad Pro Stuck in Bootloop aufter 13.3 Uppdate - no backup

    Hey Redditors!

    i have an iPad Pro 12.1 Cellular

    Since an Update to iOS 13.3 it wont boot anymore.

    I have no backup, so i cant restore it as there many important files on in.

    i cant update to 13.3 again either

    so my question is if i can install the Beta 13.3.1 ipsw (so i will write the firmware again) without dataloss.

    i have seen some online articles that says its possible via iTunes to install the .ipsw (Beta)

    but is it going to wipe my stuff?

    What is the best dictionary app?

    I like to have a dictionary app to look up words while I read.

    I've been using Dictionary.com but the ads are just too invasive. Many of the dictionary apps are free with pro/ad IAPs for full featured use.

    I get that a dictionary (service) is very complicated and intensive to create and maintain, so I'm not mad that they're not free. It's just that there's so much garbage to sort through, with a lot of really slow or buggy apps, even among the big names.

    Does anyone have recommendations? What works for you? This is def a tiny issue but looking for advice. Thanks!

    [Bug] Has anyone else had this issue?

    Every time I unlock my phone the pop up with my headphones that are connected also appears & needs swiped away. I did forget device & removed from iCloud & reconnected. This is very annoying is there anyway to fix this?

    Hey,

    I had the popular app "Holla" on my phone, deleted it by accident and when I went to reinstall it said not available in my region... I am in the USA, and have checked all my settings and they all set for America.

    What could be the issue?

    Edit: I'm on iPhone 11, latest update.

    What’s the difference between having background app refresh on WiFi vs Data?

    I decided to put it on WiFi only and I do have an unlimited data plan so I'm not worried about using my data with the refresh but will this help battery? My battery health is at 89%. And it only last like 2 1/2 hours screen on time. I'm trying to find ways to make it long as possible. And what will happen if I were to put it on WiFi only will that mean I won't get like notifications from Instagram or Snapchat or emails unless I connect to WiFi?

    iPhone 11 user, and I have a yahoo email account. I work for a transportation company that will daily release a list of available jobs. An email is sent out to all drivers on a first come first serve basis, first person to claim/request the job, gets the assignment. However I have noticed a delay in my notifications of new mail, sometimes 10-15 minutes all the way up to 30 mins on occasion. My phone is connected to WiFi and yet I still see these delays. Does anybody know if this is a yahoo thing, or an iOS thing. That 10-30 minute delay results in other drivers getting the jobs before I even know they are available.... any insight would be great!

    Alarms aren't going off on my new 11 Pro

    So I recently upgraded from a X to an 11 Pro last weekend. Since then I've continued to use my phone as my alarm in the morning like I always have done.

    I have an alarm at 5:55am, and then an alarm at 6:45. On Monday and Tuesday the 5:55am failed to go off and this morning the 6:45 failed to go off

    Anyone else had this problem, or is this problem related to the new device I've got?

    Today in Reminders app missing

    I came across what I think is a bug and it's driving me nuts. I'm on the public release of 13.3 and I noticed now in the Reminders app when you add a new reminder and you select "remind me on day" it doesn't highlight TODAY like it used to (or was it always like this). It was helpful especially when scrolling up and down various days... however when you select "remind me at a time" TODAY pops back up.
