I’m glad Apple doesn’t allow full screen ads from outside of app. Posted: 02 Jan 2020 05:53 AM PST Few days ago, at my family gathering. My aunt asked me if I can fix ads that keeps popping up while she's using her Android phone. And then I found out, it's because "phone booster" app that she installed from Google Play ( I know this because she's knows almost nothing about tech and APK installs doesn't enable on her phone) Anyway, I appreciate this choice from Apple to protect non-tech users from this kinds of annoying thing. Posted: 01 Jan 2020 09:28 PM PST When entering a search query in Safari's address bar, a special keyboard comes up with the period key on the right side of the space bar. And the period key takes up space that the space bar would normally have. So I end up typing a bunch of periods when I google something. It is useful to have a period on the keyboard when typing a url address but I wish there was a better place for it. [link] [comments]

I don't miss 3D touch...except for the flashlight! What about you? Posted: 02 Jan 2020 08:39 AM PST I've seen a few posts and comments on here about 3DTouch and differing opinions about it missing from the XR and 11's. Honestly, going from an XS Max to an 11 Pro Max, I have found I almost never miss 3D touch. Haptic Touch is more than good enough for me. EXCEPT the lack of 3D touch means that it doesn't take much to accidentally turn on the flashlight from the lock screen. While I haven't kept notes on exactly how often, it went from me almost never accidentally activating the flashlight from the lock screen to at least once a day! What about you? How has the transition been? And for those who don't like it, just how bad is it? (e.g. you may miss it but you can get by just fine) [link] [comments]
iOS 14 really should bring back more 3D Touch support. Posted: 01 Jan 2020 06:43 PM PST I know it's a complete pipe dream, but even the 3DTouch settings panel doesn't work properly anymore. 3D Touch was a legitimate perfect addition to Apple devices, and to iOS, but basically they've ripped it out of phones that do still have it which i can only imagine with 6 to XS Max users is still quite a lot of them. They've made the convenience that 3D Touch gave to iOS now an inconvenience. What do you guys think about them just killing 3D Touch like this. [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Jan 2020 08:36 AM PST My siblings and I have been going through my mother's old things as we clear out our old house, and we've found a ton of old Apple hardware + nicknacks. My siblings are more or less okay with me taking any and all of the Apple stuff and I'm interested in learning more about some of these things. As for my closest guess, I know my parents had an Apple II at home which my dad got for business, but aside from that I can no idea. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
