Are there any great music players besides Itunes? Posted: 05 Dec 2019 09:46 PM PST Hey all, i really need a FREE music app that can play FLAC files without having to convert it to ALAC (really starting to annoy me the fact that i have to convert it first). I also want it to have a UI that's good to look at, if any of you guys know a music player that matches the description above please do tell, thx. [link] [comments]
2019 16" MacBook Pro won't start up Posted: 05 Dec 2019 11:31 AM PST It was working fine yesterday morning. I installed an application and it wanted to restart, which I did. I left for six hours and when I got back:
I am assuming at this point it is fried somehow. Not sure how. If it was restarting, it did not boot into the operating system because I have FileVault on and it would have been waiting for my password. Definitely could not of been running any applications that would've caused it to "burn out". [link] [comments]
Properly connect and disconnect external monitors Posted: 05 Dec 2019 07:02 PM PST Currently my method to safely connect/disconnect me (1)HDMI and (1) Thunderbolt to HDMI on my late 2013 Catalina Macbook Pro is to do so when the mac is on sleep mode. Almost everytime I disconnect those when the mac is on sleep mode the screen starts glitched then eventually corrects itself. I have noticed recently that the mac book screen doesnt adjust at all and just stays black when lit up (sometimes). Is there a proper/safest way to go about connecting/disconnecting my external monitors. On external monitor is a tv and the other is a proper monitor if that helps. Thank you [link] [comments]
Posted: 05 Dec 2019 03:00 PM PST The new MacBook pro 16in seems to chew through battery fairly quickly, even a simple youtube video will prompt discrete graphics use. I'm looking to force integrated graphics use for daily tasks but gfxcardstatus hasn't been updated in forever and won't work anymore. Any suggestions? [link] [comments]
16 inch Macbook popping audio isue Posted: 05 Dec 2019 05:33 PM PST Noticed this on my 16 inch but only in certain applications like Final Cut Pro and Logic X. When I play audio tracks I get a popping sounds when the volume is above 60%. I don't get this from Youtube videos or MP3s so its odd.... If I remember correctly this happened on my 2013 MBP and was fixed with an OS update. Anybody else noticing this behavior? [link] [comments]
Why does Apple still sell the Air models? Posted: 05 Dec 2019 05:28 PM PST They still sell outdated tech like in the Air models, or original iPads and the Minis. Why not just discontinue them all and do it more orderly and easier? A normal version and a pro version for every product. iPhone and the Pro MacBook and the Pro AirPods and the Pro iPad and the Pro Like this it's simplified and more orderly and also keeps the whole product lines easier to navigate and it would look awesome on their website. More premium-like. [link] [comments]
Posted: 05 Dec 2019 03:37 PM PST Am I the only one who is fine with the keyboard and never had a problem with it? Interested to know if I'm an outlier. [link] [comments]
Has anyone tried replacing old butterfly keyboard for free after you did third party work on it? Posted: 05 Dec 2019 03:13 PM PST Went to third party to replace water damaged board. Apparently with ultrasonic cleaning the old marks wouldn't be there anymore? But now my key from the keyboard is falling off after my repairs.. and it costs another 350 to replace the entire keyboard even though only one key is affected wtf. Does anyone know if I can I still use the keyboard replacement service by Apple for free? Anyone had this situation before? If no, I'm going to try in an Apple store and leave updates if anyone's interested. [link] [comments]
Posted: 05 Dec 2019 02:45 PM PST Hello, I recently installed Windows 10 on my Macbook via Boot Camp and have been experiencing some issues. Firstly, the battery indicator continuously shows "plugged in, charging" even with the charging cable disconnected. Second, when I put the laptop to sleep or close the lid, the next time I wake the computer it takes me to the Boot screen where I need to select which OS. Are these issues due to how new the 16" is or should I re-install my Windows partition? Thanks. [link] [comments]
Posted: 05 Dec 2019 02:09 AM PST Is there a way to stay constantly connected to my iPhone's hotspot? I mean, literally stay connected, the same way as it stay connected to the WiFi router. I have a flat rate 4g on my phone and if Mac goes to sleep it disconnects and then sometimes I have to click joint few time after it successfully reconnects again and it is frustrating as hell. Posted: 05 Dec 2019 02:02 PM PST I am currently using a Surface Pro 2017. I want to switch over to MacBook but did not want to purchase a new MacBook. I was looking at 2017-2018 MacBook air models. How well do they hold up now and how long would they get updates for? At this point everything I use is Apple and I want to convert my laptop. [link] [comments]
Planning to upgrade my old Macbook (2008) HDD to SSD. Will this drive work (mx500)? Posted: 05 Dec 2019 01:35 PM PST I'm planning to upgrade my old Macbook's HDD. It's only about 150gb and quite slow so it seems about due for an upgrade. I'm wondering if the Crucial MX500 1TB 3D NAND SATA 2.5 will work or if it's incompatible. I understand I may need to take the old Macbook drive apart when I replace it. Also for cloning the old HDD to the SSD, can I just use a USB to SATA or will that be incompatible with this Macbook? Thanks for any help you can give! [link] [comments]

please help me recover 2011 memories Posted: 05 Dec 2019 11:07 AM PST bear with me im horrible with computers, i gave yall a disclaimer so you're legally not allowed to roast me. so this laptop is from 2011, i had it for maybe 3 years before i dropped it ON the charging port and its been dead ever since. its been a while since i looked at it and i want to see whats on it before the end of the year. the thing is its so expensive to get the files extracted bc i have to ship it to an apple warehouse. i was wondering if its possible to just take the hard drive out and put it into a different macbook, and if so, which macbook can i put it in? its old as shit so its a core duo 2 im pretty sure, serial number is W8945JXF8PW (?i think) or maybe even if theres a way i can open it up and charge it?? jeez, idk lol anything is helpful idk wtf to do:))))))))) edit: even if theres a better subreddit to post this in, let me know [link] [comments]
question regarding MacBook tradeins (benefit, value) Posted: 05 Dec 2019 11:06 AM PST note: this is not meant to be a rant, quibbling, or derisive in any way. I have an honest question which is basically: why? And I really just want to know if there is something that I am not accounting for. I am noticing that the trade in offered for my MacBook Pro is not what I was expecting. When I configure a search for auctions on eBay for used items matching my 2018 macbook pro, I see completed auctions in the range of $1800-$2600. There are only 3 of 18 results below $2000 in the past week. But when I look at the trade in value, apple is willing to give me only $1400. Is there some reason why apple would not match the going rate? Am I better off just selling it on eBay, or is there some added value/convenience in the trade in (beyond just immediately applying it to my new purchase)? [link] [comments]
Posted: 05 Dec 2019 09:00 AM PST I took out (upgraded) an old 500GB SSD from my Macbook Pro Mid 2012 13". I recently acquired a Macbook Pro Mid 2012 15". i'm having trouble with internet recovery. original spinning HD was "wiped". it freezes after entering wifi pw at the spinning globe part. i tried to put my ssd with high sierra into the 15" and the folder ? shows up. is the problem the computer or HD? or do i need to wipe the SSD first? New mac owner (windows for decades) - Port buying advice please Posted: 05 Dec 2019 07:40 AM PST Very happy with my first mac. Its a mac book air 2019. So obviously I need more ports. I connect the mac book air to a monitor that uses a display port. So got the simple cable converter that goes from the mac to display port. Now I bought a wireless mouse that requires a usb dongle (receiver) and so now both ports are used up and no spare port to charge my mac at the same time. I want to buy the (cheapest) dock that allows me to : use the mouse, monitor and mac power cable at the same time. I do not want to decrease the quality of the image I get from my monitor because it looks amazing. I mention this because I have been let down before with windows hardware. Thanks for any advice. LCD damaged on MacBook Pro 2015 retina 15" - refurbished original screen but reproduction chassis? Posted: 05 Dec 2019 02:14 AM PST Hi, I clumsily damaged the LCD on my MBP after years of obsessive care, and I've brought it in for repair (famous repair shop in London). They had a refurbished screen in stock, but they explained to me that even though the LCD and cameras are Apple original parts, the aluminium chassis of the lid is not. Is this legit? I'm not too fussed about the chassis as long as the LCD is exactly the same as the retina OG. Looking for some opinions/experiences, thanks. [link] [comments]
Bought Open Box Macbook Pro 16 - Has a deep scratch Posted: 05 Dec 2019 04:40 AM PST I bought an open box Macbook Pro 16 to save some money. I don't mind openbox items and this one doesn't really bother me. However, there is one bad nic on the side and I'm just curious to how it got there and see if it's something I should be concerned about. There are some light scratches on the cover and some nics on the very top of the lid. I know no one can tell me for sure how they got there, but the nic on the side is concerning. I don't think it was dropped. The screen and keyboard look amazing and brand new. I feel like if it was dropped, it would be much more evident. Do these thing just scratch very easily? Trying to decide if I should take it back and just get a brand new one. Edited to say: There are zero dents in the macbook pro and seems to be working great. I'm really glad I bought it. I have a crazy gaming rig that I wanted to upgrade, but decided to get this so I can have something I use around the house and will most likely start using this as my main pc. [link] [comments] |
