What Caused These Random Password Prompts?

I'm receiving "password reset request" messages on my devices. Any idea what's going on/what to do?

    Posted: 29 Dec 2019 07:52 AM PST

I've received the following message on my iMac & MacBook Air both running High Sierra and a similar message on my iPhone 11 Pro running iO3 13:

Reset Password A password reset request was sent from a device at the location shown below.

    screenshot of same message

Not sure if it's phishing but I sure haven't requested a password reset. When I click "show" no location appears. It just takes me to the reset apple password section in settings.

Anyone experience something similar or have suggestions on next steps?

I feel the audio on my AirPods is off.

    Posted: 29 Dec 2019 06:46 PM PST

I feel that my AirPods aren't working right.

I got 1st Gen ones in July of 2018, and I loved them. My brother got his 1st Gens for Christmas, and I feel the audio on his is a lot better than mine.

More specifically, when I listen to Spotify I feel the audio isn't equal. I'm getting some vocals and audio stronger in one Pod than in the other, and it swaps. Some parts of songs feel louder in one ear; could anyone help with this? Maybe it's just me.

How do I download iCloud photos from my computer to my iPhone?

    Posted: 29 Dec 2019 03:59 PM PST

I had to sign out of iCloud on my phone because I had a weird problem with my photos but it ended up getting fixed. But afterwards all my photos were deleted. I have no idea how that happened but it did. Now Apple is making it significantly complicated to get my photos back. I tried looking it up but I can't get a simple straight answer and I have no idea what to do. It's all very confusing when I simply just want to transfer my photos back to my phone.

I just want my photos back before I signed out of iCloud, and I don't have a Mac computer, I have Windows, which is probably why everything is so difficult.

Chronically Sluggish Mac Without Any Obvious Cause: Need Help Working This Up!

    Posted: 29 Dec 2019 05:29 PM PST

    Dear AppleHelp Community,

I'm a long-time Mac user and have been experiencing issues with my iMac desktop. Essentially, my iMac has been acting sluggish for quite some time now. The curious thing is that there are no obvious problems with the hardware or software, and this all seemed to develop insidiously 3 years ago. It's been manageable for the most part, but the slowness of apps and processes on my iMac has been steadily becoming more intense. The bulk of the symptoms I'm experiencing is basically having very slow app start-up times and having frequent visits from the infamous Apple color wheel. For instance, when starting up any Microsoft Office app or Spotify or Messages, I am experiencing app start-up times of 3-6 minutes (sometimes even more) with the color wheel, which I believe should not happen, given a perfectly 'healthy' computer with no obvious hardware or software issues (to my knowledge). This also slows down other apps if I switch screens to a different process (like Safari).

Before I go further, here are the specs:

    • Model: iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2013)
    • Processor: 2.9 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5
    • Memory: 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
      • Current Storage status: 949.27 GB of 1TB free
    • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 1 GB
    • Mac OS X version: macOS Catalina (10.15.2)

I took my Mac to an Apple Store Genius Bar about 1.5 years ago to resolve this issue. They performed a hard reset and completely wiped the computer clean. I reconfigured settings and re-downloaded apps to my iMac to the way it was before the reset, and things were running as smoothly as would be expected of a 'brand new' iMac. However, the computer began to return to its sluggish ways over the next week and has gotten worse over the years. I live very far from any Apple Stores, so this is a trip I rarely have the opportunity to make in order to visit a Genius Bar again, so I thought I would ask for help here.

The confusing part for me is that I also have a mid-2012 15" MacBook Pro that runs as quickly and efficiently as the day I got it -- almost 8 years later! I'm not working on any large files with tons of data or opening up large iMovie/photo editing software that would warrant such a slow start-up time (I don't use any of the creative suite apps except for Photos). Overall, these are basic, daily processes that I feel should be operating almost instantaneously on such a computer, similar to my MacBook Pro, but are instead running as if there is a large data file that is straining my computer. Especially considering that I am not occupying a large amount of storage and my RAM should be sufficient for the daily work I need to perform, I am not sure of how to proceed. There has never been any trauma/spilled liquids or anything of the sort around this computer; I'm always cleaning out old files I don't need anymore and am downloading the latest software updates. Is this something that is just expected of an aging iMac or is there something that can be done to work up this issue safely without downloading any shady third-party "MacOSX clean-up" apps? Any advice on how to potentially restore this iMac to smooth working capacity and proper app start-up time would be appreciated! Please don't hesitate to ask me any further questions; apologies in advance if I left out any major details.

Many thanks for reading and have a prosperous New Year in 2020!

iPhone X green flashing screen issue.

    Posted: 29 Dec 2019 04:15 PM PST

Hi, I hope somebody has an answer to this because I can't seem to find one.

Firstly some basic informations and a disclaimer - I am not a native english speaker, and I am only 16 so please have patience as I am not very good at english. - My iPhone is three (3) years old and 64 gigabytes. - It is running IOS 13.3 (it is the latest I can get, since I am from Finland.) - I have around 20 gigabytes of free space.

Now let's get in to the problem:

This first started on the 25th of December, I was playing a video game and had my phone beside me. The game ended and I went to check my phone that was lying on the bed next to me, and it flashed green. The phone would not do anything but flash green, but siri was working.

After a while of just trying to fix it by force restarting I went online and found a video showing that placing a bright light over the phone and trying would fix the issue, and it did. I went to bed and the next morning it happened again, the flashing became more frequent and finally a green pixelated area took over the right side of my notch display.

Now the phone works kinda normally, but when ever I try to open the screen it flashes green, I have to press the power button around 5 times until the phone shows my screen as it should (only having the green problem in the top right) and then works fine. Also the screen starts to flash really badly when I turn the screen brightness down (I would say below 25% ish).

Everytime when the screen flashes it is green and it covers most of the screen (excluding some parts at the top of the screen locating about where the time is on the lock screen). What could be causing this, is it an hardware, firmware or a software issue? Can I fix it or do I have to call my insurance company and ask them to help me pay the repair of my screen / motherboard?

PS: I read online that this could be due to water damage but I think it's unlikely because I haven't had my phone near water in a long time.

Any help is greatly appreciated, and I hope you guys have a wonderful new year 2020!

My powerbeats pro broke.....what are my options?

    Posted: 29 Dec 2019 07:35 PM PST

I love these powerbeats pro, much better than the Airpods I've had before. However, I hadn't put them in my case and had them in shorts and accidently stepped on the right one. It still works, but is broke in half right now. (see photo) I could super glue it back, but wanted to see what my repair options were. I didn't buy Applecare+ on it, but would be willing to before I went into our local apple store (10 minutes away). Any advice would be helpful.

MB mid-2010 booted to black screen, after PRAM&SMC boot loop & distorted chime

    Posted: 29 Dec 2019 07:33 PM PST

I've got MB White Mid 2010 (A1342) in my hands. Last time I put it away (~2 years ago) it was fully working and I'm 100% sure nobody touched it since then.

Upon connecting to the charger and giving it an hour it was booting with chime & staying on black screen. After SMC & PRAM reset I've got it into a weird state: https://imgur.com/G4ooudZ

Basically it boots into white screen with a normal boot chime once, then it goes into boot loop again but boot chimes are distorted severely.

Any way to stop expired email passwords from prompting you when you open your email app?

    Posted: 29 Dec 2019 03:43 PM PST

I have an enterprise email account on my phone and am currently on holidays and my password has expired so every time I open my email app it won't stop asking me for a password. I don't want to just delete the account because instead of just using exchange my company uses this convoluted setup that involves installing all these different security apps.

Is there any way to pause that account or at least get it to stop prompting you? It's very annoying.

iTunes Matched Music Not Syncing Properly to iOS Devices

    Posted: 29 Dec 2019 03:28 PM PST

I subscribe to iTunes Match (the music I listen to generally isn't available on Apple Music, but I wanted to have my personally curated music available on my other iOS devices without having to sync all of the time), and I'm having an issue where certain albums won't sync properly on my iOS devices when edits are made on my MacBook Pro.

(Also, most recent stable versions installed of macOS, iOS & iPadOS.)

There's two variants of this issue. One is an album I purchase via the iTunes Store, which came in two separate albums and the track names were off. So I combined the two albums into one with a tweaked name & updated all of the track names. Oddly the track name changes did transfer over, but it still has the old album name and them split into two Another was an album I purchased outside of the iTunes Store and imported into the Music app. Some of the changes propagated over, but not all of them.

I've tried clicking the sync option in the Music app, but no dice on the iOS end of things. Is there any way to "force" a sync or some other method?

(Side question, but not critically important, is there any way to change the sorting option for tracks in playlists in the iOS & iPadOS Music app? I have it sorted by album -> track number in macOS, but it looks like the iOS variant uses a different sorting method I can't change.)

    Factory restored ATV3, no remote

    Posted: 29 Dec 2019 01:11 PM PST

I thought I would be able to tap my iPhone to it to set it up, but that doesn't seem to be working. (Didn't work with either of my two iPad Pros, either.) Any way to make this work without buying a remote?

Edit: solved! Downloaded the CiderTV app for macOS onto my laptop. It was super easy so now I'm up and running.

Iphone Photo & Video Import Issues-Only Some Photos Being Imported, Imported Photos Are Not Being Deleted

    Posted: 29 Dec 2019 06:41 PM PST

has anyone else had this issue? Iphone 11 Pro Max

I have tried 2x to import photos off my phone and 2x only a few photos are imported but not deleted.

Also the entire import process of importing then deleting. takes over 10 hours every time.

I dont understand what Im doing wrong. Yes I check the box that says delete photos after import.

When I connect my phone to my computer (windows 8) I perform the following actions

    Open My Computer

    Find Iphone Icon

    Right Click Iphone Icon

    Select Import Pictures and Video

I allow the computer to then discover the import items

    I select "Delete after import"

I click import, and allow the function to complete.

Once completed I check my iphone to see if the photos have been imported, and deleted; and they are not.

What is restored with an icloud backup, and what will I lose?

    Posted: 29 Dec 2019 06:40 PM PST

If I reset my phone with an icloud backup, what will be restored and what will be lost?

I'm particularly interested in whether my "notes" will be restored, and whether they'll be restored to the notes in my icloud notes app, or if they'll be restored to the notes as they were on my phone when I made the icloud backup.

to rephrase, I have one set (Set A) of notes in my notes app on icloud. Then, I turned off my notes icloud synching, and kept taking notes on my phone, so I have Set B on my phone.

Then, I did an icloud backup. If I restore my phone from an icloud backup, will I get Set A, or Set B? In other words, does an icloud backup just back up, like, an image of my whole phone and send it to icloud? Or does it back up just the individual apps that I have set to synch, and then restore those apps from the data that synched?

    Thanks!!

Is it bad for my MacBook Pro screen to leave the brightness all the way?

    Posted: 29 Dec 2019 09:41 AM PST

I recently got a MacBook Pro and want it to last a while. I was wondering if I will cause the laptop screen to lose quality quicker if I always leave the brightness of the screen all the way up?

Green flash happens every 10-30 seconds when watching a movie on iTunes. Problem happens heavily on iTunes but hardly ever on any other streaming services. This is a screenshot of green flash from recorded video.

iPhone won't make calls and is delayed on texts

    Posted: 29 Dec 2019 12:22 PM PST

I have an iPhone 6 on IOS 10.2.1. First my text messages are coming in delayed from people, for example one just came in that was sent to me 24m ago, and when I send messages usually the first will show it delivered, but if I send a couple back-to-back the others will take noticeably longer. It doesn't always happen like this, some messages come in perfectly, and other times it just delays for a long time and I get a ton of messages at once. It still struggles, but performs better when the phone is open it seems versus locked?

This has been going on for a week, and now all the sudden I can't make any calls. If I call someone, it doesn't go straight to voicemail, but it will never actually ring either. It just sits there forever basically

Texting works totally fine on my laptop for reference

Apple Watch series 3 trouble pairing with iPhone 6

    Posted: 29 Dec 2019 06:16 PM PST

I can get to the point in setup where it is asking me to update the firmware on the watch. It starts and then just immediately unpairs from my phone.

    Am I missing something obvious?

Why can’t I permanently delete messages from my iCloud storage?

    Posted: 29 Dec 2019 05:24 PM PST

I've scoured the internet for a solution to this issue, but I can't seem to find an answer. I've been trying to free up space in my iCloud storage. A huge portion of it was being taken up by messages, so I deleted a ton of conversations. However, even after completely clearing the conversations out in Apple ID > iCloud > Manage Storage > Messages > Top Conversations, it still shows me having 2.9GB of messages in iCloud. Does anyone know how I can permanently delete these from my storage space? Any help is much appreciated!

iCloud image upload is always stuck at 1% (last night it made it 54%). I’ve reset my device, turned off/on iCloud uploads, deleted 1000+ files, deleted apps, and even upgraded my plan to 200gb. Nothing is working. Any advice? Thanks!
