New "Find My" app. Never refreshes.

    Posted: 24 Nov 2019 12:51 PM PST

I use the Find My app (the old Find My iPhone app) to see where family members are to check on their safety and figure out when they'll be home. For example, I want to see how far they may be away when grocery shopping so I can get ready to get up and help them carry them in and put them away.

The irritating thing is, the app will show me where they are, but you cannot refresh the location. I've found the only way to do it is to fully close the app and reopen it.

Is there another way to get the app to refresh?

My girlfriend is asking me what I want for Christmas and I thought about getting a bike mount for my 11 pro. I've looked at the Quadlocker model but was wondering there were any other options that people could recommend? It mount in both a road bike and a mountain bike. Thanks in advance!

Is there a CarPlay like app on the iPhone?

    Posted: 24 Nov 2019 07:35 PM PST

I'm just wondering if anyone has used any apps on the iPhone that's like CarPlay? I have a wireless charging car mount but my truck is older and not compatible with CarPlay and using the hands free would be great for my commute

    Thanks

Leather cases for the iPhone 11?

    Posted: 24 Nov 2019 11:48 AM PST

I'm trying to find a good leather case for my white iPhone 11, but can't seem to find one that comes close to the original ones by Apple. I would love to read any recommendations from those who bought one for their 11s!

iPhones that got replaced by Apple (Model Number starting with N) - are they refurbished ?

    Posted: 24 Nov 2019 04:59 PM PST

Someone is offering me an iPhone X for a decent price right now which has a model number starting with N, meaning it is a replacement device which got issued by Apple. Are those devices expected to be refurbished ?

3utools reports that the rear camera got replaced once in the phones lifetime, I wonder if this has been done by Apple or a 3rd party repair shop.

Can someone with a N-model please run 3utools and check what their device report says ?

iPhone X repair one day out of warranty?

    Posted: 24 Nov 2019 07:28 PM PST

I have a 64GB iPhone X. Bought it on 11/23/18 in the USA through Walmart and on a payment plan on Verizon.

When I record video, there is a bad stutter and audible clicking in all videos. I contact Apple support today, one day after my manufacturer warranty expired. They say I have to bring it in for a repair. I'm going in tomorrow to an Apple store.

Is there any chance that they cover this as a warranty repair even thought I am one day out of warranty or are they pretty strict about it?

About to travel with my iPhone 11 esim, how to use it without incurring high call costs?

    Posted: 24 Nov 2019 06:02 PM PST

So I will have my UK esim and the physical sim slot will be used to put a local sim in so I can get a local data package for cheaper data rates compared to the price of UK data roaming at 50p per MB.

I will leave my UK esim activate to receive any business or family calls to my UK number, but I am wandering, is there a way to know, when somebody is phoning me, if it's by Facetime or to my actual UK number...

I think it's free to receive calls and texts while away but it's like £1.80 per minute to phone UK numbers from outside of the UK and the EU, so don't wanna accidentally be on a 60 minute call with £100 bill.

Can I block myself from MAKING calls and texts on my UK number and instead ONLY RECEIVE them....

It all feels like a con to be honest nowadays having a phone number that is separate to our data prices, I mean £1.80 per minute for calls when I can just use WhatsApp for free... But hey, all the banks and online accounts want our number for security now so they can text you the codes.

Am I the only one noticing burn in on my XS Max?

    Posted: 24 Nov 2019 05:29 PM PST

I've had this phone since October 2018, and I have noticed burn in now... nothing crazy like on the Samsung phones but on the top left and right edges of my screen I see a faint shadow of the icons on my status bar... couldn't find anything else but just the status bar icons on the notch ears staying there. It's not noticeable until you look closely and right at it.

I have an Apple TV 3 gen. Let's say I want to watch Disney+ from my iPhone to ATV, I can stream no problem BUT can I still use my phone to text, or browse on my phone while the movie is playing or is it going to show everything on my phone?

Is there a trick or nope?

    Thanks!

    Mouse help (please!)

    Posted: 24 Nov 2019 10:35 AM PST

Hello, I have an iPhone XS Max running the latest iOS non-beta (13.2.3), and what is a good, inexpensive mouse that will work with it? I've looked up Bluetooth mouse and Bluetooth mouse for iPhone on amazon and online retailers but can't seem to find any that say if they'll actually work or not. I'd like to stay $15 or under, as I'm very limited by budget. Thank you

Access eurosport app in ios Appstore?

    Posted: 24 Nov 2019 10:41 AM PST

I subscribed to Eurosport while on sabbatical in the US. Now that I'm back in the UK I don't get the option to download the Eurosport app in the ios Appstore, because it thinks I'm still in the US. Anyone know how to get the Eurosport app in the ios Appstore when you originally registered your iPhone and Eurosport subscription in the US?

Being told iPhone 11 should not be left cord charging overnight

    Posted: 24 Nov 2019 09:34 AM PST

I'm having a hard time believing that in 2019, if I leave my phone plugged in it'll damage the battery. Sales rep is insistent that if I leave the phone plugged in overnight, it'll shorten the life of the battery. Told us that it would be fine to leave it on a wireless charger overnight though, since they shut off automatically. It got me thinking about why a $1k device couldn't stop charging automatically as well.

I read some posts on here regarding it, but they were a tad older. Wasn't sure if the iPhone 11 is special in some sense. It sounds like it's all bunch of BS, and I have NOTHING to worry about.

edit--Thanks everyone for responding. You've all been a tremendous help.

Future of mid-range iPhone (XR, 11, etc.)

    Posted: 24 Nov 2019 11:36 AM PST

Does anyone else think it's time for Apple to re-think this line of iPhone? Sub-1080p LCD in 2020 is a bit lacking, especially considering the phone's large size and weight. Apple's LCDs look good but by now I expect more. I expect OLED.

Ideally I'd like to see Apple upgrade the 2020 mid-range device to the Super Retina display and trim the body down to that of the Pro line. Give it a dual camera, instead of triple or quadruple. I wouldn't mind losing a few features for these improvements. I also wouldn't mind a $50 bump in price. This would basically be the XS with newest internals. The rumored SE2 should be a compelling device at the entry level.

    What are your thoughts?
