Do any of the note taking apps have a Mac companion that syncs relatively seamlessly in real time? Posted: 25 Nov 2019 12:35 PM PST I've been using GoodNotes for a while and it's becoming ridiculously inconvenient that the Mac app doesn't sync with what I have on my iPad for quite a while (and vice versa). Sometimes I have screenshots on my laptop that I'd like to quickly be able to add to my document without having to send it to my iPad and inserting. Sure it's relatively quickly to do but becomes very tedious when I'm inserting 20-30+ screenshots and pictures a day. Do any of the note taking apps support using both apps at the same time relatively seamlessly or am I out of luck? Thanks in advance! [link] [comments]

Posted: 25 Nov 2019 02:09 PM PST She literally has trouble sending email or basic text messaging, and pressing any kind of buttons in a dialog box seems to be an insurmountable traumatic experience. I don't want to sound mean, she's the best mom in the world — but I'm sure most of us have relatives like this 😅 Anyway, I got her an iPad as a present, mainly so that we can FaceTime when I am overseas. But this iPad needs to be 100% functional when it is presented to her. All apps must be logged in, there cannot be any passwords required anywhere beyond a 4 digit PIN, and there must not be a single dialog box or software update notification — any of these will almost certainly trigger an existential system failure in her soul. So besides somehow poaching her password so that she is all set up with gmail, what else can I do to make her life easier? I'm sure that once she discovers that she can watch movies on it, or read books, she will start to warm up to it. Anything in particular that would recommend there? And are there any other apps that would be useful or entertaining for the boomer generation? She likes to draw, but I'm worried that the sketching apps are too complicated. It needs to be something that a 4-year old can use and understand. Also, this is an olderiPad Air (I think version 9.7) so I'm not sure if it works with a stylus? Any other advice that you can think of would be greatly appreciated :) [link] [comments]

Apps won't open when selecting them in the dock? Posted: 25 Nov 2019 01:16 PM PST The apps on the right side on the dock - the recently used apps - will not open if I select them. This was not the case on earlier versions of iOS. What's going on? [link] [comments]
do both an ipad and iphone have to be on the same iOS to sync text messages Posted: 25 Nov 2019 01:06 PM PST so i have iPad Pro 10.5 running iOS 10 which i use for everything. i don't have an iphone and don't think i'd need to do much with it so i was thinking of just getting a 5s or a 6 but i have a question about text message syncing? Do the iPhone have to be running the same iOS or can the iphone be running ios 12 and my ipad be running ios 13 and sms syncing would still work?? [link] [comments]
Handwriting to Text- ink to text not on my OneNote App Posted: 25 Nov 2019 07:06 AM PST hello- I just got an iPad (7th generation standard version) and the pencil. The main reason I bought the iPad is to take notes at work and convert it to text so that it's searchable. I've read how to steps on converting ink to text, but the button is not present on my OneNote screen. Has anyone else ran into this? Was the feature eliminated or is there a way to activate it? Adding an IP route to iPad iOS? Posted: 25 Nov 2019 02:15 AM PST Hi All, I have a rather weird setup at some healthcare centres which requires all devices on the LAN to have a static route to a small number of subnets which are only accessible via a VPN server. This is easy enough to do in Windows, but I can't seem to find a way to do it on the iPads. Even google isn't any help :-) Does anyone know if it's possible? Kevin [link] [comments]
App recommendations for drawing programming-centric diagrams/flowcharts/ui scribbles? Posted: 25 Nov 2019 02:29 AM PST I am looking for an app that can handle stuff like drawing diagrams, flowcharts, ui scribbles etc with the apple pencil. I'm not sure if the word "technical drawing" is what this is but I saw it mentioned before in the same context. I am an engineer and my main use case would be quickly whiteboard-like scribbling out flow charts, diagrams explaining system architecture, or ui screen sketchups on an infinite canvas, then export these if needed. On Mac I guess Sketch would be very close to what I want. So far I downloaded these apps but none clicked so far:
The 2 closest apps of what I want are Concepts and Whiteboard (Paper looks nice but you cant really try it fully without paying... ). If I don't find anything else I'll likely buy Concepts. I want to use the apple pencil to draw sometimes freehand, sometimes with an option to use shapes and objects. Microsoft Whiteboard and Adobe Sketch have the cool feature to automatically turn drawings into proper shapes (not very reliable for whiteboard though..) Snapping is and centering/aligning objects is important to me, so is drawing arrows pointing to things and so on. Are there other apps besides the ones I posted above that I should take a look at? Looking for a video editing app Posted: 24 Nov 2019 08:43 PM PST I'm making tutorial videos and need a (what I think) is a basic application. I'd like something that I can add videos together, with transitions, add arrows/lines/text/other content throughout the videos to highlight buttons on the interface. I've downloaded a few apps, but being new to iOS, I'm wondering if there's a good app to fit my needs [link] [comments]
Brydge for 2018 Pros, how has yours held up? Posted: 25 Nov 2019 07:40 AM PST I feel like I have read about a lot of people returning theirs shortly after receiving it. Reading amazon reviews, it seems like there's a bit of quality issues over time. Those of you who have held onto your Brydge keyboard, what's your experience been like? [link] [comments]
Can an iPad replace an old MBP? Posted: 25 Nov 2019 04:22 AM PST Hey all, I have an early- 2011 MBP that has lost OS support with Mojave and now even other apps won't update because of this. I see some deals on all sorts of iPads (Air, older Pros) and was wondering if an iPad with keyboard is a possible replacement if all I do is basic computer stuff e.g. word processors and internet? IPad OS seems to have made the iPad more functional but I'm concerned about the lighting port on older iPads as a connector to peripherals, downloading using torrents and general memory space limitations. Thanks for any input! [link] [comments]
need a screen replacement, what are the best places to buy from in australia? Posted: 25 Nov 2019 03:13 AM PST i have a broken mini 4 that i picked up off gumtree, everything works but the screen has a crack going right though the middle of it, looking to replace it myself. [link] [comments]
Network engineer looking for a whiteboard app with image/stencil support Posted: 24 Nov 2019 03:14 PM PST I am a network engineer looking for a whiteboard app that has support for either stencils or images I can load into the app. This is for presentations and sometimes quick sketches with co-workers. The reason I am looking for stencil support is network diagrams with poorly drawn routers/switches can really muddy up the entire presentation. An example of what a network topology looks like for reference. https://i.imgur.com/npLsNcf.png It would be nice to just drag an image/stencil over and start drawing. I was looking into the two most popular note taking apps, Notability and Goodnotes if they support such a feature or at least close to it. [link] [comments]
Where can I get an uncompressed short 4K video clip to fully view the ability of my iPad screen? Posted: 24 Nov 2019 04:31 PM PST If uncompressed isn't necessarily possible, then maybe one that isn't trashed by YouTube's compression? [link] [comments] |
