HDMI CEC and Apple TV 4K Posted: 23 Nov 2019 06:37 PM PST I have a Sony KD75X780F/C 4K Television, a Sony STR-DH590 4K Receiver, an Anthem MRX-700, an Apple TV and a new Apple TV 4K. When the Anthem receiver was hooked up to my Apple TV with the same television, CEC worked fine and turned off my TV and the receiver when I put the Apple TV to sleep. Now that I have the 4K Apple TV, I decided to get a 4K receiver so I got the Sony which is supposed to support CEC. Unfortunately, the receiver doesn't turn off when I put the Apple TV to sleep and the TV doesn't sleep either now. Should this setup work and what should I try to get this working? Apple TV refuses to work with my new Soundbar Posted: 24 Nov 2019 01:08 AM PST So I just bought a Samsung Q70R soundbar; it sounds amazing but it refuses to pass through video and audio from my Apple TV 4k. If I plug the Apple TV directly into the soundbar (HDMI in port) and then run a cable from the hdmi tv out port to the hdmi 1 port (tv in) port on the tv (Samsung 55" 4k that I bought in 2015), I get no audio or video. If I connect the soundbar with the Apple tv plugged in to it over to hdmi 3 (arc) on the TV, I get only audio and not video. The only way this setup works is to separate them. I tried resetting the Apple TV and going back to non beta software but that didn't work. I was thinking maybe it was the soundbar that was bunk but it was able to pass through video and audio if I connected my Xfinity box to it. I've scheduled a support call with Apple in the am but I'm at my wits end 😔. Been dealing with this issue since I bought this thing on Friday. Siri remotes not working on Apple TV 4 Posted: 23 Nov 2019 12:59 PM PST My cousins have an Apple TV and recently it stopped working, only the volume buttons worked. This happened to me before on my Apple TV, and it was resolved after charging the remote for a while, so I did that for theirs, but it still didn't work. So I brought their Apple TV and their remote to my house, hooked it up to my TV, and tried my remote on it (my Apple TV was in another room so my remote didn't turn it on) and it still didn't work. I tried having my Apple TV learn their remote, it kind of worked, except the up and down buttons were the volume up and down buttons, and there were no left and right buttons. Their Apple TV itself still works, turns on, goes to the screensaver, all that. I tried using my iPhone as a remote, didn't show up in the list. At this point, I don't know what to do, and I think it's the Apple TV that has the problem, but I don't know. Does anyone know what I should do? Picture issues Posted: 23 Nov 2019 02:46 PM PST Sad to say I'm having picture issues with my ATV 4K on my Vizio 55 inch tv... When we first got this tv as a gift, we had these same issues with darker scenes on apps like Netflix. Any dark colors on screen would come out extremely grainy, almost like a bit of a static effect on the shot. The brighter the colors, the better looking the picture. I messed around with video settings on my Apple TV as well as the tv settings itself and was satisfied for several months. Recently we switched from Hulu Live to YouTube tv and had some picture quality issues there as well. Changed some of the settings to 4K SDR, match frame and content rate on my Apple TV and adjusted Vizio settings as well. YouTube tv picture looks better now, but I'm back to my original problem of grainy and blotchy looking picture quality in dark scenes of anything I watch on other streaming apps. harmony remote - using the numbers 0-9 Posted: 23 Nov 2019 04:20 PM PST I have all apps set with a password to keep the kids from watching ATV before and after school #latchkeykids but those sneeky little kermungons keep trying to look at the password. by having to use the directional arrows they can see what it is. Posted: 23 Nov 2019 09:57 AM PST I have seen it autoplay next episodes on Futurama (Complete Series) and the seasons of Rick and Morty. But on Seinfeld (Complete Series), it does not autoplay and just goes back to the episode screen at the end. Is this a setting or a new feature being rolled out?
