Posted: 18 Oct 2019 11:58 PM PDT How can a NATIVE APP not support keyboard media buttons?! Why is Apple Music in the sidebar un-hideable? Why are we forced to have the sidebar at all?! Why does Albums view not have that nice animation that iTunes had when opening an album and instead it opens this terrible overlay? And I can't return to the albums view using the 'back' mouse button or ESC or clicking outside the album cover like it was in iTunes and instead I have to click this tiny little [ < ] button? Are they not trying any more? Are they testing how low can they go before they spot a decrease in sales? I was a long-time fan and dedicated user (since motherf. iMac G3) but now they've crossed the line and if they don't change their development strategy I'll change to Linux. Thank god I do regular backups of the system, so I can go back [link] [comments]

Early 2011 MacBook Pro, finally trying to update everything and am unable?? Posted: 18 Oct 2019 11:37 PM PDT I have an early 2011 13 inch Macbook Pro. I've had it forever, and honestly I've just never bothered to update anything. Trying to get my stuff together, and when I go to the Mac Store to try to download an update, it asks for my Apple ID and pw. I input my e-mail and password, and it says 'Update Unavailable with This Apple ID. This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled.' I tried my other e-mail address and usual password, and I get the same message. I also have an iPhone 7, and it works with no issues when I need to buy things from the App Store. Honestly, I don't even remember which E-mail I used when I first set up my laptop, and I just don't know where to go from here. [link] [comments]

How do I update to the newest version of mojave? Posted: 19 Oct 2019 02:17 AM PDT I don't want to install catalina due to the discontinuation of 32 bit support but I want to make sure my mac is as up to date as it possibly can. [link] [comments]
Favicons in Safari Bookmarks Bar Posted: 19 Oct 2019 12:34 AM PDT Are these supported yet on the bookmarks bar? Maybe in Catalina? Same idea as the favicons on the regular bookmarks. Without them it makes identifying bookmarks a bit slower than in Chrome. [link] [comments]
2015 Macbook Pro slow to download Catalina? Posted: 18 Oct 2019 11:07 PM PDT Not sure if anyone else had this issue, but I am currently running an A1502 2015 macbook pro on OSX Mojave and upon trying to upgrade to Catalina it gives me an estimated time of 7 days? I tried to x-out and re-try/restart my macbook and re-try and it still is that slow (it downloads, just very slowly). Did anyone else have this problem when downloading Catalina? Any possible fixes? Posted: 19 Oct 2019 02:19 AM PDT Tried everything, cant drag & drop, load the audiobooks into Books, then try to sync them in & nothing. Cant drag & drop cant do fuck all. Safari cookie extension / control? Posted: 19 Oct 2019 04:22 AM PDT Is there an extension that will auto-delete cookies? Or remove cookies when the tab or session is closed? Something like Cookie AutoDelete. I know a private browsing window does this, but I want to retain the history. [link] [comments]
Does Catalina improve gaming on a Mac? Posted: 19 Oct 2019 12:36 AM PDT Gamers of MacOS, So am weighing up whether to take the plunge and install Catalina on a 2017 MacBook Pro. My key concern is graphics and gaming - does the new OS improve the overall gaming experience or does it make no difference? Also does it have any impact on Bootcamp? Thanks in advance for your comments. [link] [comments]
Posted: 19 Oct 2019 12:33 AM PDT Once t2 is updated, can i still use mojave.6 or .4 on my internal ssd, or does this block mojave (this mean i can only run catalina from the update of t2)? my goal is to update t2, so to remove kernels in mojave.6, but i don't want to do shits, because once t2 is updated, i cannot go back. i tried to use .4 on an external drive connected to mbp2018, but i see the same identical kernel (only by showing me mojave.4 instead of mojave.6, this not related to backup, just by using finder). So in my opinion a clean install with mojave.4 (which would be a shit, especially with my 100 user and my 6000 application, that requires weeks before i can use it correctly, do the permission and other things) doesn't resolve kernel problems in .6. Plus i already needed to do this clean install from sierra to mojave, since all other steps that i did (and i did a LOT), didn't work. So it would be fucking annoying, considering the months that i already wasted, do all mojave - mbp2018 problems that i got in the last year (especially the transfer of the data, where the users need to work correctly after the transfer and not showing me beachball icons or see display frozen every 3 seconds, like it happened for months by using a lot of alternative and other methods). Like i wrote in another post, i never had so many problems with all my other 8 macs, even with mbp2012 in mojave. for apple is the mac ok, this is not the reallity, so they wanted to change it few months ago. even after clean install i still see frozen display or beachball (but less compared to all other methods before). By clean install i really mean clean, so by reinstalling one by one or transferring the .app, without using migration (because migration from sierra to mojave creates a lot of problems, especially related to finder, permission and I still see the frozen display/beachball). they write it too https://mrmacintosh.com/10-14-6-update-causes-kernel-panic-when-using-facetime-camera/ (about the .5 that doesn't resolve .6 problems) Have you seen kernels in catalina? EDIT: i just got another fucking kernel during cloning my internal ssd to an external by using an external ssd with mojave .4 and superduper (which mean I need to restart from 0 again). after 2.1 of 4tb my mac restarted. argh i hate all those kernels. Mojave: Issue trying to drip CDs in parallel Posted: 19 Oct 2019 12:11 AM PDT I have a large volume of CDs to rip and wish to use three drives to do it. The issue I see, and it happens so far with all of the software I have tried, is that the first disk in the first drive is fine. I tell the ripping software specifically to use the second drive, and it reads some data from it, but then tries to rip data from the first drive, causing the driver to chatter violently. I have noticed various issues with optical media on my older Mac Pro and my current iMac, where it seems to be fairly unhappy with more than one optical drive. The most common issue is putting a disk in and being unable to eject or run software against any but the first drive used. Is this some inherent bug in macOS regarding more than one optical drive? On Linux, this just works without issue, so it isn't the drives as far as I can tell. Currently, I have tried abcde, dbpoweramp, custom cdparanoia scripts, and so on. [link] [comments]
Catalina 10.15 safari dark mode and ios 13 safari dark mode Posted: 19 Oct 2019 12:06 AM PDT I have been told that ios 13 and catalina have system wide dark mode support. However dark mode on safari on both of my devices does not turn dark, any ideas? (btw IG on my iphone doesn't turn dark as well). I searched and I only found topics about auto dark mode and how to turn it on in mojave... [link] [comments]
Posted: 19 Oct 2019 03:33 AM PDT I have a MacBook Pro 2017 model. After upgrading to MacOS Catalina, switching between secondary monitor on and off, my windows have blurry fonts and Chrome becomes laggy and some hoverable elements don't show their hover effects. I have to restart the browser and all other windows that are affected in order to fix the issue. This happens everytime I disconnect my secondary monitor. Anyone else with similar issues? Catalina tip for slow machines Posted: 19 Oct 2019 02:42 AM PDT I don't know if this will really help anyone, but it's been helping me ever since I started using catalina. I have an app called Memory Diag, which lets me monitor my RAM usage when my MacBook is on. Every time I restart my mac, the cached RAM usage goes literally all the way up until I can't use up any more RAM. I found a (sort of) fix to the issue, which is to open the terminal and type sudo purge Enter your password, and then the cached ram usage should go all the way back down (for the most part) I figure this might help a few of the people experiencing some slow ass speed with their macs. Thanks for reading! Hope this helps. [link] [comments]

Is Music working worse than iTunes for anyone? Posted: 18 Oct 2019 10:27 AM PDT I can't right click on songs to get things like the metadata or file location, it sometimes refuses to close, the UI glitches (the pause button doesn't change to play when paused) and the three dots menu doesn't work for any of the songs or albums [link] [comments]
Force quit keyboard shortcut shuts down Catalina Posted: 18 Oct 2019 04:38 PM PDT My mail app was not showing up on my screen and the dot was below the mail app icon in the dock. I tried to force quit the app doing the keyboard shortcut and it turned my screen black the first time. I then pressed the trackpad and the screen came back on when I did the force quit shortcut again my 12" MacBook shut down with a message on the screen that said the computer was shut down wrong in different languages. Is anyone else having this problem? [link] [comments]
