Mail opening in split view whenever I watch full screen videos on Safari. Posted: 06 Oct 2019 07:06 AM PDT Absolutely no idea what causes it or how to go about stopping it. Any ideas? [link] [comments]
Maps Shopping Icon Black on Touchbar Posted: 06 Oct 2019 07:15 PM PDT For the longest time, the shopping icon on the Maps Touch Bar menu has been black, whereas all the other icons are white. This has been the case for probably a year or so, I've just never really had any motivation to actually do something as I figured it was a bug that would be fixed in an update. Any advice? Here is a screenshot. [link] [comments]
Posted: 06 Oct 2019 06:18 PM PDT I have a gaming PC and an iMac. I have the PC hooked up to the monitor using the monitor's 1 display port, and the mac is hooked up through a mini display port to HDMI adapter, with an HDMI cable coming from the adapter into the monitor. The problem is that I can only do 1080p@60h on the monitor that is rated at 1440p@155hz. How do I get it to to 1440p? [link] [comments]
Homebrew Cask not upgrade outdated programs Posted: 07 Oct 2019 02:47 AM PDT Hi, why doesn't Homebrew cask list and upgrade outdated packages? I installed visual-studio-code with cask and every time I run the terminal-command: brew cask outdated it lists nothing. Then I open VSC and it says update available... I thought homebrew cask is a package-manager and upgrade outdated packages, when I run the command. [link] [comments]

Posted: 07 Oct 2019 01:05 AM PDT Hi guys, so I just installed Catalina from scratch, and I'm getting an issue with blank thumbnails on all .rar files. After I install TheUnarchiver, instead of changing the icon to the rar icon it should, it just defaults to blank. When I 'change all' to VLC for example, it shows the right icon. I've tried resetting all the icon caches, reinstalling OS X from scratch, and no matter what I do, it always appears like this. The only thing I got to work temporarily was going inside the package contents of TheUnarchiver app, and duplicating the rar.icns file, renaming the old, and renaming the duplicated one back. When I entered safe mode, the .rar icon appeared for my files, but any new downloads from Safari for example, would end up all white. I've attached a screenshot, and any help would be appreciated. Surely this can't be a beta error? I've tried various decompression apps, but none seem to work to change the default .rar icon. [link] [comments]
Is macOS Catalina getting macs louder? Posted: 06 Oct 2019 11:53 AM PDT Hello, I noticed that over the last updates my MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2017, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports) is getting louder and running hotter, its fans spin all the time, even when idle. I remember that on High Sierra I could see them at 0 rpm when browsing the internet or doing light tasks, but it seems that now the min speed is around 1500 rpm. Right now I am literally using Safari plus Apple music and fans are sitting at 3780 rpm... A simple FaceTime video call gets the fans at around 5000 rpm. It's not only the noise it makes, I can't get more than 3 hours of battery while using only Safari. I am using Catalina beta 10 Thanks! [link] [comments]
Posted: 06 Oct 2019 09:40 AM PDT I'm looking at getting an iPad Pro, and I think I'd use sidecar every day. I currently use a dongle on my MacBook Pro which uses both available usb-c ports. The USB-C ports that are on the dongle are in use already, so could I plug my Mac into one of the usb 3.0 ports on my dongle and use sidecar? I know I could use sidecar wirelessly, but I like the idea of the more reliable connection and charging the iPad whilst in use. [link] [comments]

Posted: 06 Oct 2019 01:18 PM PDT Just this. ive bought my MBA around Febraury 2019 as a brand new and Ive been using it following the scheme: charging to 100% > unplug cable & use it till battery is around 2% > charging it again. Following this scheme strictly, today my MBA lasts around 7 hours on battery (compared with 10 hrs as a brand new).

How do I leave email message on server using Mail on Mojave? Posted: 06 Oct 2019 04:34 PM PDT This was always an option in older versions of MacOS in the Mail preferences under the accounts tab, but now I can't find it anywhere and every google search points me to a "how-to" for older versions. Does this option still exist. I'd like to take 10,000 gmail emails off of Mail, but still have them accessible on the Gmail site. Thanks so much. [link] [comments]

Downgrade from Safari 13 to Safari 11 on HS - is there a working way? Posted: 06 Oct 2019 06:03 AM PDT I've been trying to downgrade Safari 13 to 11 by disabling the SIP and replacing the file from combo update for 14.3.4. Everything went fine except that I wouldn't be able to open Safari preferences pane to set it up. Its version did display v.11 however I just couldn't reach the settings and everything which is on its menu bar. The time machine backups that I have unfortunately have Safari 12 on them so at the moment I'm really stumbled as to what to do. I just want my extensions work. I also tried to find the installer pkg for Safari 11 over the web but haven't succeed so far. I would really appreciate if people that know how these things work better than me could give a hand. Safari 13 is a disaster for me. And 12 wasn't much better. I really want to jump back on 11.. [link] [comments]

Using networksetup to change service order in Mojave Posted: 06 Oct 2019 07:06 AM PDT On a 2018 21" Retina iMac running Mojave (10.14.6), when I run this command from the terminal: networksetup -listnetworkserviceorder I get this output:
Then, when I try this command:
I get an error:
That looks like a valid command with the correct number of network services. Any ideas as to what I have done wrong? [link] [comments]
