    So I've been on the iOS betas on my iPhone X since the first and it's been great except battery life so when the final release came out then 13.1.2 etc I thought hmmm this is not getting any better so before the signing window closed I downgraded to iOS 12 and my battery is much, much better with the same usage. On iOS 13.1.2 the best I got was 4.5 hours screen time with 6% remaining and on iOS 12 I'm now getting, 6.2 hours screen time with 8% remaining which is a great improvement and about 18 hours standby.

    Next problem. My Apple Watch series 2 which I love is on Watchos 6 beta so I couldn't use my watch anymore which pissed me off because you can't downgrade.

    After looking online and being on to 2 Apple support advisors they said they would send a box to me to put my watch in and send back to perform the downgrade. 4 days later I got a email saying they are sending me a replacement which I thought was strange for a downgrade but I thought cool a brand new watch, my s2 is the stainless model so the screen still looked new anyway but still a new watch, new battery etc is cool. Anyway today the parcel came and I opened it to find a brand new Apple Watch series 3 stainless cellular model.

    I don't know if it's a shortage of series 2 or not in stainless but I'm very happy because I've got a new watch and a free upgrade and it it pairs with my iPhone X again which's battery life lasts me all day again. So I guess apples not all that bad. This will last me until the iPhone 12 redesign now. Well chuffed.

    S5 SBSS 44mm with cellular, noise, and AOD activated. Watch has currently lasted 7.5 hours, with a workout and an easy hour of navigation, and is now at 88%, averaging at 1.6% an hour. Before the updates it was around 2.5-3.5% an hour.

    Notification in your Watch if you get far from the iPhone

    Have you ever wondered why we get no notification in the Apple Watch when the phone goes far or out of range? For example, what if you leave the phone on a restaurant table and leave? Or it drops out of your pocket on the bus? It kind of feels like a missing feature, doesn't it?

    So me and two friends tried to find a solution with an app! And we would love to have your feedback. We just updated the app, WatchIt, and made it a bit easier to use, but we don't know many Apple Watch users and we really want feedback to improve it.

    Here's the scenario we imagined (and which we managed to make a reality!):

    ​

    1. Open the app the first time
    2. Calibrate for your watch
    3. Choose a notification distance
    4. Turn your app on. "Lock your phone"
    5. Forget about it until it (hopefully) saves your iPhone

    The app lives in the background for days: currently, I have had it turned on for 3 days and still going, notifying me whenever I leave the room and forget the iPhone.

    Battery usage is less than 1%, it literally never even appears in the Battery Usage graph.

    We just updated it and fixed some bugs and improved reliability (you now get notified if iOS is closing the app, so you can never be "not covered" and not know it), and it is working great on all of our devices, but we would love to have some more feedback from the community.

    Please, be as harsh as you think is needed in giving us feedback, we really want this app to work for you: we developers are also the target user. What we know so far, when it comes to problems, is that if you tend to have your iPhone in your pocket, your body blocks a lot of the bluetooth signal thus causing some false positives. We are trying to work around this issue and we are thinking of implementing a "pocket mode" that you can turn on if you tend to wear it in the back pocket, or maybe we could calibrate directly in the pocket and do all our math based on that.

    Overall, though, we feel it's better to have a few false positives than just completely miss an out of range notification, since the latter is quite a bit more expensive than the former. I'd rather not lose my iPhone than be annoyed every once in a while by an extra notification! What do you guys think?

    I sent my Generation 1 in to replace the battery because it swelled up. It got shipped to a repair facility today, and they say the will replace the product. What do they mean by that? What replacement watch will I get?

    Hi,

    Since my first AW Series zero I've always had my watch constantly on silent mode and haptics be my main form of notifications.

    Well since 3 days ago I turned off silent mode (on Series 4 now) and I'm amazed by all the different sounds (hourly chime, health notifications, etc). Watch feels new again. Even when I went to go use my MacBook, usually my watch unlocks it and I feel a haptic, but this time the watch made an actual padlock unlock sound. pretty neat.

    Just wanted to share for all those that are constantly on silent mode and have not really experienced the unique sounds much.

    TLDR: Always had silent mode on. Turned it off and impressed by all the unique sounds.

    Pairing failure with update

    So recently I upgraded my phone to iOS 13, and along with that I need to upgrade my watch to the new os. When I tried doing this, it completely unpaired my phone and Apple Watch and now they won't pair, I try doing it manually put that doesn't even work. Why is this happening?

    Question: I got series 5 w cellular, and I’m ok AT&T. Do I need to get a physical sim from ATT store to activate it?

    I've tried twice to activate from the phone and both times I get errors that order could not be completed. First time I called ATT support and they said they fixed it and it would be a few hours and work. It didn't.

    Upgrading to Apple Watch from Fitbit

    I will be upgrading to the Apple Watch S5 shortly from my 2 year old Fitbit (charge hr 2). I know they're quite different products but is there any major changes and/or differences between the two that I should be aware of? Also I've never had an Apple Watch before so other than reading and about it online I've had no experience with it.

    ive been wearing my watch for about 2 weeks now, and my skin is somewhat irritated from it. i know there has been a few concerns regarding nickel present in the sport band, but this is caused by the other side of the band with no pin, does anyone have any idea why? & should i purchase a sport loop?

    Battery on S5 at 98% after 7 hours of wear. Significant improvement in battery life. Software still on 6.0.1.

    I just noticed, that my battery indicator is at 98% after wearing the Apple Watch S5 for 7 hours today. Settings were not changed. Always On is on, noise meter is on. Why the drastic improvement? Is there an issue with zhe battery indicator? What is going on?

    Need advice before I upgrade (S2 to S5)

    I'm going to be upgrading soon to a Series 5, but I'm trying to decide which one. I have the Series 2 Aluminum Space Gray watch and it's in pretty rough shape (see image).

    No cracks on the screen, but it's pretty scratched up. I was wondering if it might be worthwhile to get a stainless steel or titanium edition to get the sapphire screen. How durable is it compared to the sport? How well does it hold up?

    The second issue I had was with the casing. The space gray coloring is chipping off in some places like around the mic where I sometimes bump it. How well do the new aluminum cases hold up compared to the Series 2? Have there been any improvements? How does the black stainless steel case fare against scratching? Would it be better to go silver for the aluminum case? How durable is the titanium case been so far?

    Last question is general advice/opinions. If the edition watch lasted twice as long as the aluminum watch in terms of durability, would you rather get the more durable watch or upgrade twice as often? I'm leaning toward the latter and getting the aluminum model again, but if the edition will physically be more durable, maybe it's a better choice... Help! Thanks!

    ECG questions

    Hey guys, good morning (atleast from where I am)

    So it all comes down to ECG, a great great feature to have on the watch and it's an absolute bummer for the watch not to have this feature (bought in an unsupported country)

    this works

    1) going to a supported country (phone has to be from a supported country too but it needs not to be the same country)

    2) buy the watch there, get that country's SIM, pair the watch to your phone and WALA

    3) go back to your unsupported country and still continue to enjoy the feature

    BUT what happens if i unpair my watch in my unsupported country? do i need to go back to a supported country and buy a sim and pair them again?

    OR

    the ECG activation is a one off thingy, where once activated it's gonna be activated forever and ever and ever (until maybe an update? since Apple patched geofencing, they could probably come up with another update too to patch this too)

    Amber alerts
