Should I return my MacBook ? 2018 13’ MBP vs 2019 13’ MBP Posted: 01 Sep 2019 05:56 PM PDT So I just bought a MacBook Pro (8 gb ram/256 go storage and 4 thunderbolt 3 ports )from Best Buy today , it was on sale for 1399 and I got an addition student discount for 100$ so I essentially bought it for 1299 (1436$ USD after taxes) but I didn't realize until now that it's actually the 2018 model and not the 2019 model . I was looking at the specs and they're essentially the same except the 2019 model actually only has 2 thunder bolt 3 ports and apparently an improved keyboard . Both have quad core processors except the one I got is 2.3 ghrtz. Now my question is , is the 2018 model keyboard really bad to the point where the 2019 version is justifiable to drop the extra 200$? Everything points at the 2018 version being better except the keyboard and the 2019 one being slightly faster but that doesn't bother me that much . Should I return it or was the deal I got justifiable ? [link] [comments]

Posted: 01 Sep 2019 04:49 PM PDT new macbook pros have a touch id. Does that mean ill have to use fingerprint to unlock it? is this a good safety measure? If my macbook gets stolen then thieves cant use it? [link] [comments]
$500 MacBook upgrade choices: 2014 13" Pro, or a 2016 12" MacBook? Posted: 01 Sep 2019 04:44 PM PDT Right now I'm typing this on a 2011 MBP with all the upgraded bells and whistles. It's certainly still fast enough to do pretty much whatever I need to do, but it's not exactly portable by today's standards. And I'm really starting to wish I had a Retina screen. So I've been looking to upgrade. Sometime next year I'll be buying the new 13" MBP, but until then I'd like something to hold me over. My budget is about $500. Checking around, I can buy an 8GB i5 2013 or 2014 MBP in decent shape. Or a neighbor has an m7 12-inch MacBook with 8GB RAM and a 256HD for $560. Form what I can tell from GeekBench, both are slight upgrades via benchmarks. Are there any pros or cons I may be missing? Pros, MacBook Pro: 13-inch Retina, more powerful Cons, MacBook Pro: Shorter battery life, bigger unit Pros, MacBook: 12-inch Retina, Way longer battery life Cons, MacBook: Wimpy processor, smaller screen [link] [comments]

Battery managing software/app? Posted: 01 Sep 2019 03:35 PM PDT Is there an app for the Mac where it can manage the macbook's battery? Not just an app that "monitors" the battery life. Specifically, I want to keep the Mac at a specific charge while plugged in. For example I want my Mac to be maintained at 60% charge while plugged in. Purpose of this is to extend the battery's longevity. Something like Dell's Power Manager software. [link] [comments]
MacBook Pro 2018 vs MacBook Pro 2019 Posted: 01 Sep 2019 12:09 PM PDT I'm a little confused. Want to buy new MacBook Pro. I choose between two versions: 2018: Intel Core i5-8259U – 2.3 GHz - 3.5 GHz. Intel Iris Plus Graphics 655 2019: Intel Core i5-8257U – 1.4 GHz - 3.9 GHz. Intel Iris Plus Graphics 645 On the paper 2018 model looks better, but on the Benchmark, 2019 model shows better score. Also, the 2019 model is $80 cheaper. [link] [comments]

Things 3 is a bit pricey; what are some other great alternatives? Posted: 01 Sep 2019 05:43 AM PDT Hey, Things 3 looks very good, but it's a bit pricey at ~50$. Now I'm trying to find a personal wiki/notes taking app, but also an organiser/todo app. If I don't find anything that looks good as an alternative then I'll probably go with things 3 but I thought I'd ask you first what are some alternatives you know of/are using? Thanks! [link] [comments]
[Please help urgently] Macbook Touch Bar 2018 is not able to power off completely... Posted: 01 Sep 2019 04:14 AM PDT Hey guys, i own a Macbook Touch Bar 2018 13", i7, 16GB RAM, 512GB. I've been experiencing this issue frequently - I'm not able to power off completely. So let say, I've turned off my laptop right now, a couple of hours later when I'm open up the lid, its already on and it shows me the lock screen without going through the boot-up process (that shows Apple logo) I've encountered these issues a couple of months back, sent for service at my local Apple store for 3-4 times. The first and second visits they told me everything was NORMAL and reloaded the OS told me everything was OK. But heck, they didn't understand my issue. The 3rd time that I sent back for servicing after so much of narrating the whole situation - they found out that the laptop had this issue of not being able to power off completely and had replaced my motherboard. I thought my nightmare was over... but the issue persisted again. The 4th time I sent it back and they reloaded my OS, told me everything was fine and asked me to monitor it. They told me not to restore my BACK UP, but no, ... I don't restore my back up. I have a habit of setting up as a brand new computer. I was so tired of dealing with it and I let it go eventually. Currently, the issue has resurfaced and it's annoying me so much. I'm so afraid that I'll overheat and strain the battery but I've no idea what should I do... I need my laptop for school, and I honestly have no luxury of time to send in and go through the whole servicing process over and over again. Am I the only who experience this issue? May I know how do I resolve it? It's so annoying that I have the urge of getting a brand new set... Your help is really appreciated... ): [link] [comments] |
