Keyboard keeps acting up after computer is rebooted or wakes up from sleep

    Posted: 21 Sep 2019 11:23 AM PDT

[X-post from r/mac, let me know if this isn't actually allowed]

My MacBook Pro 2018 thinks there is an input from a key every time I reboot my computer or wake up from sleep. It prevents me from typing or using my trackpad (because it thinks I am always right-clicking). None of the keys are physically down or stuck or anything. The only thing that solves the problem is to turn off the computer and perform an NVRAM reset*. But then whenever the computer goes to sleep or I need to shut it down and turn it back on, the problem occurs again. I have not spilled anything on the keyboard nor have I dropped it. It started happening literally as I was typing something and has been occurring ever since.

Does anyone know what the issue is? Can I solve it in any way that does not require me to give up my computer for weeks (need it for an important project soon and although I could backup the data, I don't have a back-up computer) ? Although NVRAM reset seems to work, it's annoying having to do it all the time and is obviously not a permanent solution :/

    * The first time it happened, I tried SMC reset, and it worked. Since then SMC reset won't work and only NVRAM reset will work. I don't quite get why that is. I have this fear that NVRAM reset will stop working, too at some point

    Multiple iTunes account question

    Posted: 21 Sep 2019 05:35 PM PDT

Im new to the mac world so I apologize if this is a silly question, but just looking for some input if possible.
Just purchased a macbook air for my wife and was curious if its possible to manage two iTunes accounts from the same macbook? Like basically I want to be able to update my phone on my account and hers on hers but using the same macbook. Is that possible? Thinking about getting rid of my laptop and consolidating down to one laptop if we can.

Suddenly CloudApp not working - driviing me up the wall

    Posted: 21 Sep 2019 07:03 PM PDT

    Hi,

I have this app called CloudApp for taking screenshots and screencasts of things on my laptop screen and suddenly it's not working. It usually is docked in the top menu however now when I try toopen it - it doesn't even appear (before it would appear but wouldn't work). I don't know what's going on. What can I do? I tried to re-install it and that doesn't work. Is there a way that I can uninstall EVERYTHING about it? Like not just from the applications? What do I do?

    Thanks

Is 4GB of RAM actually enough?

    Posted: 21 Sep 2019 04:09 PM PDT

Is it possible that there is a group of people that never have a problem with 4GB of RAM on a MacOS? My wife has been running 4GB on her MacBook Air (late-2015) for over two years and she had never complained about performance.

I purchased a base MacBook Pro (mid- 2012) with only 4GB of ram and that was the first upgrade I had to complete. It was maxing out the system ram just idling. I ended up splurging and purchase 16GB to replace it. I've noticed it never seems to go over 8GB usage though. As a side note the biggest upgrade was when I swapped the HDD for an SDD.

I guess I'm just wondering your thoughts on non-power users being satisfied with only 4 GB of RAM.

MacBook Pro stranded in Houston, damn you Imelda!

    Posted: 21 Sep 2019 06:37 PM PDT

I need some advice: my 16gb RAM, 512gb SSD MacBook Pro arrived at the Apple Store in the Houston Galleria. I was supposed to pick it up on Wednesday, but was delayed, and now this damn tropical storm has made it next to impossible to make it to Houston in the foreseeable future (I-10 is basically shut down for the next few months). I need to know what would be the best way of getting my MacBook as soon as possible. Should I get a family member to pick it up and ship it to me? Should I cancel and reorder, this time having it shipped home?

    Question about my battery.

    Posted: 21 Sep 2019 11:48 AM PDT

Hello. I just bought the new 13" MacBook Pro about 3 weeks ago. While I was using it today, it randomly shut off at around 40% battery life and when I plugged it back in it was at 0%. And now when I click on battery life it tells me to service my battery. I even looked at my system settings and it's only had 4 cycles on the battery. Is this just a software bug or do I have a bad battery? Thanks for any help!

PowerBank for 13" Macbook Air from 2015

    Posted: 21 Sep 2019 11:38 AM PDT

    Hello,

I'm looking for a power bank I could use while traveling for a Macbook Air from 2015. I did some research, and it seems like there's no way to use the USB-C to Magsafe 2 converter, and from what I understood I need a DC to Magsafe 2 (bought this one: https://www.amazon.de/dp/B06XSX97K2/ref=pe_3044161_185740101_TE_item) converted plus a powerbank with a DC-output. I'm having real trouble finding something decent and portable (I'm located in Europe). Can you recommend something small'ish approaching 20000 mAh? Are there any other parameters I should be looking at other than the DC-out port?

    Docks with two Displayports?

    Posted: 21 Sep 2019 09:22 AM PDT

    Hello,

I currently have a Dell with a TB16 dock that works great, it has two displayports that can do 4k 60hz or if I want it also has HDMI and VGA, plus ethernet, UBS, ports etc. Unfortunately it does not work with Mac OS, and I am looking for a dock that will support both Dells and the Macbooks in my house. From looking through Mac compatible docks I am not finding any that have 2 displayports on them, most seem to say to add a displayport dongle for the second port, which seems a little silly.

Can anyone point me to a dock that works well for them with two displayports?

    Thank you!

    Help me choose

    Posted: 21 Sep 2019 09:07 AM PDT

Hello, I'm about to buy a new MacBook Pro but I'm not sure which model. I'm split between MacBook Pro 13' with 4TB ports 16 GB RAM 512 SSD (2200€) or MacBook Pro 15' 16 GB RAM 256 GB (2400€). Because I'm student 13' laptop would be much easier to carry around, lighter and smaller wich would be perfect. But for 200€ more I could get the more powerful 15' which it's a bit heavier but it has 6 cores, a dedicated graphic card and a bigger screen. The battery life is also important for me. You could also offer windows laptops if there's a better option. Please give me your advise or tell me about your experience with those laptops. Tank you. Have a nice day

    Storage on MacBook Pro

    Posted: 21 Sep 2019 06:07 AM PDT

Hello. So, I have a 2016 MacBook Pro with all the latest updates. I'm running low on storage and I deleted a lot of things, but I've noticed that I have 86GB of Documents. Well, 80GB of those documents are from the Photo Library, which ALSO occupies 80GB. How do I manage this? Can I delete the Photo Library in the Documents without losing all my photos on the app itself? Seems to me every photo document is being counted twice. Thank you.
