Workarounds for volume control not working on Siri Remote? Posted: 20 Jul 2019 01:14 PM PDT So I got a TCL on Prime Day (RIP Optimus) to replace my 9 year old plasma. Got everything set up only to find that the TV was not responding to volume control from Siri remote (works fine using the tv remote-as is to be expected). Do the troubleshooting: turn on HDMI CEC, enable all audio and power options. Nothing. Try "Learn Remote", Apple TV doesn't detect signals when depressing TV Remote buttons. Turn off CEC, try "Learn Remote" again, no signals detected. My guess is that the remote isn't IR but actually RF, even though it shouldn't matter. I've since turned the CEC back on and at least the TV turns on and off with the Apple TV now. I am fairly certain that I have tried everything. I've resorted to using HomePod for audio just so I don't have to use an additional remote. But this is not ideal. So the question remains: what workarounds have you guys come up with to deal with this? Universal Remote? I think I also read that a universal remote could be used to first learn the TCL remote, then use the universal to train the Apple TV. Seems crazy but I might just do it. Edit-problem solved. Remote goes into IR mode when a battery is removed and replaced. Those precious seconds were enough to train Apple TV to control volume. Thanks guys!!!! [link] [comments]
Showtime Anytime App Fails to Load on tvOS13 Posted: 20 Jul 2019 11:19 PM PDT Using tvOS 13, which I believe is a beta. I have a verified Showtime subscription. 30 preview loads and plays just fine, but after that it just sits there on the Showtime logo. My connection is very good. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app. Disconnected and reverified my subscription without success. Anything else to try, other than presuming that it's a bug related to the beta? Posted: 20 Jul 2019 02:48 PM PDT I have an older Apple TV. Not sure which model, but it has that old layout and the old remote style. I am trying to sign into my ITunes account to watch movies and stuff, but every time I do, it says that I can't sign in, and a verification code shows up on my phone, but there is no way to enter it on my Apple TV. What can I do to sign in? Thanks. [link] [comments]
Anyone have a suggestion as to why my apple TV 4k abruptly stopped using 4K 60 HDR? Posted: 20 Jul 2019 09:05 PM PDT I've been using this setting fine while connected to my Sony VPL-VW285ES projector, but I've just noticed the Apple TV will only allow 4K 60 SD. Every time I try and connect to HDR, Apple TV returns the message "we switch your tv back to its previous format". [link] [comments]
