I am in the difficult position of being a 35-year-old man who is about to spend a week in a three room cabin with his parents over the Fourth of July. I will be staying in this isolated cabin with no Internet, of course. Just my mom and 16 hours of daily jabs about not having kids or forcing my fiancé (of 12 years lol) to accompany me for this week-long torturefest. Please save the "go out and enjoy the natures" speeches for r/phonesarebad. A week with my parents is not the type of trip you "enjoy". The little enjoyment I will get from this trip will be the few precious hours I pretend to go to sleep so I can play iPad games silently in a connected bedroom separated from my dad snoring and farting by a cardboard-thin door. Jokes aside, my hope is basically this: I'm looking for any suggestions of iOS games that have a certain level of "spectacle" or atmosphere to them. A game(s) that will really give me something to look forward to each night. A continuous story might be great, or just a beautiful atmospheric puzzle game would be fine. I just want engaging gameplay that will keep me coming back for more. Cost is no object. I only ask because I find discovery in the App Store to be an absolute slog, with Apple being concerned about showing you games they want to sell rather than games you want to play. (Harry Potter, BTS world, really?) Thanks so much for the help! Just looking for any good suggestions since I don't game on the iPad very much. I also like twin stick shooters, platformers/metroidvania, action rpgs, novel puzzle games, and rogue-lites. Pretty much anything as long as it stands out. Some past favorites (and great games if you are looking for one) are: Epoch, Tiny Bubbles, You must Build a Boat, Inferno 2, Sky Force, Data Wing, Death Road to Canada, Soul Knight, Leap of Fate, Ticket to Earth, Ordia, Dark Echo, Out There, FTL, The Executive, Llamasoft games when they were still a thing. The animation style was simple 3D models in with a mostly overhead camera. All grey and white except for the paint. If anyone remembers the name I'd appreciate it, can't find anything online so far.
