iTunes Expected to Be Retired After Over 18 Years Posted: 31 May 2019 07:06 AM PDT |
Posted: 31 May 2019 01:26 PM PDT I've been searching for a used iPhone X (switched to Android 2 months ago, I hated it, and going back to iPhones). Found this one locally, and paid. The ad showed it was a clear phone, but on AT&T network which would have been fine with me. No IMEI listed, however it was a good price and bought it so no one else would grab it. He sent me the IMEI afterwords. I checked AT&T's website (https://www.att.com/deviceunlock) and it shows phone is not paid off. He claims it's no big deal, however if the person who bought it eventually stops making payments (or already has), I would have had a bricked iPhone. Luckily he refunded immediately. Communications below were on my work phone. https://i.redd.it/zmljqxsbrl131.png https://i.redd.it/vl01f1tbrl131.png [link] [comments] |

Screen Time saved me from a cheating accusation. Posted: 31 May 2019 06:39 PM PDT Okay this was actually my sister but she doesn't have a Reddit so I'll just post for her. Also delete if not allowed. Yesterday my sister was accused of cheating on her test when she glanced at her phone to check the time because the clock in the room didn't work. Of course the teacher caught her at the exact moment when her head was down. Long story short her teacher wanted to report her for cheating and put it down on her academic record which would've been devastating to college prospects. My sister admits looking at her phone might not have been the smartest choice but she wanted to know the time to pace herself through the test. Anyways using the screen time feature my sister was able to prove she was not on any app between 2-4PM that would assist her on the test. The screen time not only showed time spent on safari but also the individual time spent on different websites which I think is a very neat feature. I just wanted to commend Apple for this great feature and it really saved my sister from a massive headache. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 31 May 2019 05:02 AM PDT Just read in a post and saw on YouTube that iPod touch 7th generation now supports raise to wake (because of A10). I am curious whether there are other features made possible by A10, like - always-on „Hey Siri" (this feature requires at least an A9 Chip (however 12.9-inch iPad Pro 1st gen and 9.7-inch iPad 5th gen did't get this feature); might the single microphone of iPod touch be a limitation?) Processor-wise iPod touch would qualify for this feature (9.7-inch iPad 6th gen supports it with its A10 chip) - Live Photos (also available on most devices with A9 Chip and on all with A10 chip or later; although Apple didn't update the camera hardware; however I'm quite sure that both 9.7-inch iPad 5th and 6th gen supporting this feature do have the same 8MP Camera of iPad Air 2; and I think iPod touch hast the same 8MP Camera since its update in 2015; so hardware-wise they must be the same) - Retina Flash (depends whether the display controller responsible for this is in the A10 and iPod touch's Retina Display supports it. Actually iPod touch 5th has the same 4-inch display as iPhone 5. And the display of iPhone 5 is used in iPhone 5s and iPhone SE, and iPhone SE supports this feature because of a new display controller ) Unfortunately the support support documents haven't been updated yet. Does anyone already have the new iPod touch or knows about the availability of these features on the 7th generation iPod touch? [link] [comments] |

Will there even be 3D touch support for compatible devices in iOS 13, or iOS 14? Posted: 31 May 2019 08:51 AM PDT I know everyone is talking about how the new iPhone almost certainly won't have a force sensitive display, and yes, this is frustrating to us 3D touch enthusiasts. What I fear even more, however, is that apple cuts 3D touch out of new software updates, so that if I update, say, a XS max, 3D touch will no longer be available. Does anyone else have this fear? Would this be an "apple" thing they would do? After they removed the headphone jack, I feel they have no qualms about removing tech they consider 'outdated', which is seemingly how they feel about 3D touch. Please let me know what you think. Posted: 31 May 2019 02:26 PM PDT Like many of you here, I didn't really like Apple News in the beginning. I wasn't getting any relevant news, articles were posted too late, I wasn't on top of the news as one should be when using a news reading service. But for the past week I find myself constantly checking the app and finding something to read. I've actually read more articles in these few days than in the past few months. It feels like the algorithms are starting to understand my preferences better and the flow of articles is getting really big. So, maybe we should stop hating on this service? TLDR; Apple news has actually improved a lot and I'm happy with it. [link] [comments] |
Has anybody had a negative experience with the iPhone XS Smart Battery Case? Posted: 31 May 2019 01:06 PM PDT I recently purchased an iPhone XS and and iPhone XS Smart Battery Case. For a few weeks it seemed to work properly but lately it is not working properly and I'm wondering if anyone has encountered similar problems. Below is a summary of my experience. When my phone is inside the fully charged case, half the time it shows that the case is charging the phone and half the time it shows that the case is not charging the phone. I know this happens frequently throughout the day as every time the phone recognizes the case and begins charging, it gives a little vibration buzz. I get multiple buzzes throughout the day and even minute-by-minute. This is extremely frustrating as I keep thinking I have a new text message only to pull it out of my pocket and see that the case is now charging the phone. Rinse and repeat minutes later. It's also frustrating when I pull my phone out and it says it's at 10% battery when it's inside a fully-charged case and hasn't been charging all day. I've even taken a pressurized air can to blow out the connection port to no avail. I haven't seen any posts about this so I'm curious, has anybody else encountered similar problems? Posted: 01 Jun 2019 12:25 AM PDT Hey! I'm Kervon a 22 year old developer from the Caribbean. I recently launched WWDC Connect, a free, app that offers an easy way to share contact details instead of using physical business cards. The app leverages fun Steve Jobs QR codes to trade contact info and includes a message board for users. You can also add custom notes for new friends to help you remember them. WWDC Connect is available for free on the App Store - go check it out! It was also featured in 9to5mac! If you experience any issues or have any questions, please let me know and I'll do my best :) [link] [comments] |

PSA: Basic HTML file uploads are broken in iOS Posted: 31 May 2019 03:32 AM PDT If you are using your iOS device to submit a paper, resume etc there is a chance that the file will not be received, and an empty file will be submitted instead. If you take a while to fill in the form after picking the file it is almost certain to happen. When you submit a form containing a standard HTML upload field from an iOS device, the contents of the file are sometimes not sent and a 0 byte file is received at the other end instead. The chance of this happening seems to increase with the length of time between picking the file and submitting the form - if you wait 90 seconds it appears to happen nearly every time. You can easily test this for yourself using any public web service that uses a standard file upload field, for example http://www.azurespeed.com/Azure/UploadLargeFile , http://filebin.ca . http://checkfiletype.com/ (the latter two are smaller sites, be gentle with them!). I have tested this on an iPhone running the latest iOS (12.3.1) and an old iPad running iOS 9.3.5 so this would appear to be a longstanding issue that will affect increasing numbers of people as more people using iOS devices for productivity. Yes, auto-uploading files are more common these days but Apple really needs to fix this. [link] [comments] |
